This catalog features Cincinnati Preschool Promise’s professional development offerings for the 2025–2026 program year, including both asynchronous learning opportunities and monthly live and online sessions. Additionally, you’ll find a variety of professional development sessions available through the Ohio Professional Registry, as well as information on local and national conferences.

POSITIVE EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION ONLINE COURSE (PECE)

Using the Positive Early Childhood Education online module series, participants will be introduced to a set of strategies to build children's social and emotional skills and help children learn and behave in their early childhood setting This training consists of access to four, online self guided modules. Participants will complete each of the modules a their own pace and will use reflection, goal setting and homework to put strategies into practice.

DEVELOPMENTALLY APPROPRIATE PRACTICE: THE DAP WAY!

articipants will learn to implement the 5 uidelines of DAP (community of learners, teaching, curriculum, assessment, and families) from the book, “ The Basics of Developmentally Appropriate Practice”

CARE: CHILD ADULT RELATIONSHIP ENHANCEMENT

C.A.R.E. teaches strategies for enhancing resiliency in children and for using a selective set of skills for redirecting behavior and responding to challenging behavior This training provides an important skill set for many professionals, as well as caregivers

IS THAT SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN!? SUPPORTING YOUNG CHILDREN EXHIBITING CHALLENGING BEHAVIOR

This session will cover the basic understanding of how behavior serves as a form of communication and the difference between knowledge, skill and ability and how that impacts behaviors Participants will leave the session with a set of traumainformed perspectives and tools to support behavior management in the classroom

CHILD DEVELOPMENT MILESTONES

Participants will learn about the developmental milestones of the whole child They will learn about the developmental stages of motor development and emotional well being from infants and toddlers to pre-kindergarten During these years motor skills are perfected Creativity and imagination starts to shine Caregivers will learn about the social emotional developmental stages of children, and learn about meaningful learning experiences that build growth.

RAISING RESILIENT CHILDREN

This 60-minute training will utilize resources from PBS Kids and Sesame Street to provide caregivers with multiple tools to help build resilience in the children they serve

CREATING EFFECTIVE SCHEDULES AND TRANSITIONS

Establishing an effective schedule provides both children and teachers/caregivers a positive environment for success. Participants will learn the main components of a schedule including how to plan each component and ideas for implementation Participants will also describe a transition and understand how to create transitions that are effective and productive

PLAYFUL LEARNING WITH ARTS AND WRITING

Participants will learn ways to provide meaningful literacy experiences where children develop an understanding of the meaning of language and early writing development through art. Participants will learn that early writing is both a literacy activity and a fine motor skill.

ESTABLISHING ECOSYSTEM TO IMPLEMENT

THE

SCIENCE OF READING IN THE CLASSROOM

This training will help participants understand the ecosystem that develops the foundation of reading in the early years.

TINY HANDS, BIG CONCEPTS: EXPLORING MEASUREMENT & SORTING IN PRESCHOOL

Sorting and measurement are essential early math skills that help preschoolers make sense of the world around them

Participants will explore engaging strategies and hands-on activities to teach sorting and measurement concepts to young learners, as well as discover how to guide children in recognizing attributes, categorizing objects, and using nonstandard measurement tools to compare and describe items Through collaborative discussions, practical examples, and digital resources, participants will gain techniques to foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills in their classrooms.

IDENTIFY A STUDENT'S EMOTIONAL STATE AND RESPOND WITH BREATHING TECHNIQUES TO CHANGE BEHAVIOR

This training will help a teacher identify a child's emotional state and navigate how to respond with breathing techniques Equip a teacher to set up a calm corner and practice breathing techniques for mastery

During this one-on-one training and coaching session, we will be bringing the content of classroom self-assessment to life in your own classroom and program u will learn more about how to set up a rning environment that is inviting, p dictable, and organized so that children are empowered and learn through play. CULTURAL HUMILITY

This two hour virtual training will cover the topic of cultural humility in a trauma informed practice Engaging and welcoming families and students in a respectful way can help with implementing culturally responsive, strength-based practices This session will offer explanations of cultural competency using relevant data We will explore how implicit biases affect relationships in preschool and will reflect on our own experiences

EVERY INTERACTION COUNTS: THE SCIENCE BEHIND HOW CONVERSATIONAL TURNS BUILDS BRAINS

Over the past decade, peer-reviewed research studies have linked conversational turns to improved socioemotional development, executive functioning, reading skills, and brain development In this session, we will explore the latest early talk research and how to put it into practice to promote responsive caregiving.

THE INTENTIONALLY NURTURING AND SENSITIVE TEACHER

Building nurturing relationships with a nsitive teacher is essential to a eschool child's future success, not just school but in life. Come learn strategies to become an intentionally nurturing and sensitive teacher so that you can fully support the emotional development of each child in your care.
