WELCOME

Thank you for taking the time to look at our achievement catalogue. The South Brandon Carroll 4-H Beef Club is back again for another year, after a successful first year back for our club we have been excited to watch the club continue to grow, and we are excited for the future.

This year we welcomed some new members to our club, and we enjoyed watching them fit right in. Our members had the opportunity to learn so much this year. In November members got to learn about the different cattle breeds from around the world. Unfortunately weigh day was postponed due to a snowstorm in December but when weigh day did happen the members got to learn about feed and nutrition for their animals with Amy Peters from Masterfeeds, as well as a fun activity where our members got to know each other a little bit more and got to practice for communications. Thank you to the McKay family for hosting weigh day again this year and thank you Amy for donating your time and expertise. February was our club communications, I want to thank our judges Tyson McRae, Lauren Laplante, and Donna Lee Brown, without volunteers like them our communications event would not be possible. March was an exciting meeting, our members got to tour Harps Dairy farm and learn about the dairy industry, a big thank you to the Harp family and their hardworking employees for letting us tour around. April our club got to learn about the art of livestock judging, thank you to Shawn Birmingham for leading that activity. With still a couple more meetings to go before Achievement Day I know the members are going to learn a lot more and I’m probably going to miss some thank yous.

Our members once again sold desserts at the Mar Mac Farms Bull Sale this year. Thank you to Mar Mac Farms for continuing to let our club do this fundraiser, and a huge Thank you to everyone that supported our club with this fundraiser.

I also want to give a shout out to my fellow leaders without them our club could not run. Janette Williamson, Diane Kovar and Richie Joynt. Thank you for everything you all do as leaders!! I also need to thank all the parents of our members for volunteering to take the lead on a couple things and for always organizing snacks for our meetings. You have all been life savers to us leaders so thank you very much!! And of course, one last shout out, thank you to all our amazing members it has been an absolute joy watching you all grow and learning to do by doing!!

I know each one of our members is excited to show off the hard work they put into their animals this year. Thank you again for supporting The South Brandon Carroll 4-H Beef Club.

We would love to invite you to the South Brandon Carroll achievement day show and steer sale on June 20 at the Kemnay Rink.

It’s been a fun year to be in our club. Diane is great at bringing fun games for us at our meetings. We had our weigh day in January and learned about cattle nutrition, had our communication day in February, in March we toured a dairy farm. I’ve been able to get to know the other members better this year.

We would love for you to come to our Achievement and see what our members have worked so hard on this year and fill your freezer with some delicious local beef.
