Reflections GLA 612 was a very different class for me so far. I enrolled for this class with an intention of developing my writing skills for better communication of my design and thoughts. I had aa wonderful experience, thank you Jarrod. Coming to the research part of the class, I really learnt a lot on the process of research. In my bachelors, for my dissertation and thesis it was all about the formality of the research report and less importance given to the actual processing of information and synthesizing it. The reading process was a very helpful part of the syllabus for me particularly. I never made a habit of noting down or marking parts of literature unless it was notes to be studied. I found that part particularly helpful. In general, I had imagined the research process to be a rigid one, where you fixate on a research question and go out of the way to answer it. But through this class I realized sometimes when you get into working on it, the research question could handle some tweaking to serve my purpose of the research process. I looked at it as a process that should have a volume large enough to get a doctorate, but the examples you showed how you did a research on the mathematician just as a hobby. This was inspiring since I believe that finding information to learn more about a subject is my strength and an activity, I don’t feel burdened to do.

My secondary research was a successful one for me. I did spend a lot of time looking for different validated literature sources. The course did teach me efficient methods of looking out for information.
