TOUCH THE SOIL, TOUCH THE SOUL
Chhav is a tree campaign drive that is conducted by us from June to Sept, wherein we undertake the initiative of plantation across Gujarat to safeguard the environment. The Trees Campaign serves as a significant forest restoration program. Our objective is to restore and safeguard forests globally to mitigate the intertwined crises of climate change and biodiversity loss. Celebrating this event is imperative to strike a harmonious balance between human needs and the environment.

TREE CAMPAIGN 2021 & 2022 GUJRAT

Olgreens Foundation's tree planting campaign in Gujarat is a necessary step in addressing environmental challenges. Trees play a vital role in combating climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide, purifying the air, providing habitats for wildlife, and enhancing community well-being. By planting trees, the foundation is not only contributing to local sustainability but also to global efforts in preserving our planet's health and biodiversity.
In the years 2021 and 2022, the Olgreens Foundation spearheaded impactful collaborations with esteemed universities, organizations and local community in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar area, resulting in the planting of over 7,000 trees. The campaign kicked off at Bapu University, where the foundation's dedicated volunteers joined forces with enthusiastic students and faculty members to plant a remarkable 1,000 trees across the campus. Among the varieties planted were native trees—carefully chosen to thrive in the local climate.
Subsequently, the foundation extended its green footprint to Nirma Aculife, a pharmaceutical factory, where over 2,500 trees were planted across the campus and its surroundings. This endeavour held particular significance as the region grappled with escalating air pollution levels. Through these concerted efforts, the foundation aimed not only to enhance air quality but also to cultivate a more serene and conducive environment for the factory community.
In addition to its impactful collaborations with above the Olgreens Foundation has extended its green thumb to diverse areas in the community. Notably, the foundation has contributed to the planting of trees at the JS Patel Cricket Ground, as well as in commercial and residential areas at Sindhu Bhavan Road. Recognizing the importance of reclaiming barren lands, the foundation has also embarked on initiatives to greenify these neglected spaces, providing individual homes & farm house with not just trees, but also renewed hope and vitality for their surroundings. Through these endeavors, the foundation continues to sow the seeds of positive change, fostering a greener, more sustainable future for all.

PLANTATION DONE

SHAHEED VAN GOVERNMENT POLYTECHNIC

August 15, 2023, became a momentous occasion with the planting of 300 trees in honour of 300 courageous freedom fighters. This meaningful endeavour was made possible through the joint efforts of the Government Polytechnic and the Rotary Club of Ahmedabad West. The day commenced with a lively parade led by spirited NCC students, followed by the uplifting sight of the national flag rising high and the stirring strains of our anthem filling the air.
Beyond mere symbolism, the tree planting represented a heartfelt expression of gratitude and loyalty to our nation's heroes. Guided by the time-honoured traditional drip irrigation method, each sapling was lovingly placed into the soil by college staff, students, and eager youngsters alike. In doing so, we not only honoured the resilience and growth embodied by our freedom fighters but also embraced our shared duty to protect our environment for future generations.
Amidst the lush greenery, rare species found sanctuary, enhancing our surroundings and promoting ecological balance. As sunlight bathed the landscape, it illuminated not only the newly planted trees but also our aspirations for a more sustainable tomorrow. With each droplet of water, we paid tribute to the sacrifices of our ancestors, reaffirming our commitment to preserving their legacy for posterity.

DID YOU KNOW?
HOW MUCH OXYGEN CAN BE PRODUCED BY A SINGLE TREE IN A DAY? & HOW MUCH OXYGEN WE CONSUMES IN A DAY?
MORE TREES = MORE OXYGEN AND HENCE REDUCE CARBON EMISSION & BETTER ENVIRONMENT.
This is straightforward calculation shows why protecting forests and planting trees are more important. We must act, whether it is by planting a tree in our own backyard, helping out with neighbourhood tree planting events, or funding reforestation initiatives. Every little move in the direction of protecting and growing trees.
"On average, One tree produces nearly 260 pounds of oxygen each year. Two mature trees can provide enough oxygen for a family of four. "

PARK SITE spread across a sprawling 50,000 sq. ft area plot. Our commitment to Nature’s harmony led us on a journey to create a captivating haven that thrives life with 29 different species. With every thoughtful step, we have nurtured this land into a small forest that embraces both human beings and wildlife
Our journey at Parksite commenced with soil preparation, employing the gentle power of JCB to level the earth. Acknowledging the importance of fertile soil, we spared no effort in enriching it with nutrients to support the growth of our forthcoming natural wonder. Through meticulous soil care, we established the foundation for a vibrant ecosystem to thrive. Our passion lies in crafting an environment where flora and fauna peacefully coexist.
As the area was meticulously divided into 10' x 10' squares, we employed the time-tested Traditional Drip irrigation method. This ancient technique, proven through generations, delicately supplies water to the thirsty roots, ensuring their nourishment.
29 carefully selected plant species, including some from vanished species, adorn this area, each chosen meticulously to enhance its beauty. Among them, the "Umbra" stands out, showcasing our commitment to promoting a healthy natural environment. Purposefully, we planted multiple examples of each plant species in circular formations, as each species has its own unique story to tell. This thoughtful arrangement encourages young people, in particular, to engage with the plant world through observation and tactile sensations.
However, our aim goes beyond mere aesthetics and nostalgia; it's about preservation. Together, they weave a story of resilience and hope. This sanctuary is not only for these plants but also for the diverse animals that share our planet. Strategically planted species like "Borsalli" and "Singapuri cherry" trees attract birds to our haven with the promise of a delectable feast. Now, the air is filled with birdsong as they
they construct their nests amidst the embrace of nature, nestled in the branches of "Umbro" and "Saptaparni."
Additionally, "The exquisite butterflies that have become part of our environment must not be overlooked. These fragile creatures have been drawn to our surroundings by the abundance of flowering plants, which have cast a captivating spell. Our objective is to establish a self-sustaining ecosystem where every species plays a vital role in the interconnected web of life, fostering prosperity and balance." Here, the air feels fresh and clean, a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The gentle rustle of leaves and the sweet songs of birds create a peaceful rhythm. Our well-kept little forest shows us how nature can heal and grow again. This green oasis not only gives us clean air but also reminds us to take care of the environment and all its creatures.
COME, WALK, AND BREATHE. Join us on this journey of living together peacefully, where the past, present, and future meet under the beauty of nature.

OUR GOAL IN NEXT 5 YEARS

In our quest for modernization, we've realized the importance of preserving our natural world. Thus, we're embarking on a mission to plant 125,000 to 150,000 trees in urban areas. By introducing more trees, we not only purify the air and enhance aesthetics but also provide vital habitats for urban wildlife, including the vanishing sparrow. Our goal is to harmonize modernization with nature for a healthier and more sustainable urban landscape.
