Located in the Star Points Building, the Barley Wellness Center offers state-of-the-art equipment, fitness classes and an indoor pool and spa. Trained staff will help you develop a personalized fitness program.

Designed to work your entire body, this class will benefit individuals who are looking for an active cardiovascular workout with intervals of strength, flexibility and range-of-motion exercises.

Tai Chi

TUESDAY & THURSDAY, 10 - 10:30 A.M.

Assembly Room

Tai Chi has been described as meditation in motion, gentle flowing movement performed in a slow, focused manner. Anyone can participate, as Tai Chi places minimal stress on muscles and joints. The benefits of Tai Chi include decreased stress, increased energy and improved flexibility and balance.

Our wellness staff will warm you up and cool you down with various exercises before and after a short walk. Join neighbors and friends for good music and conversation, all while contributing to a healthy, active lifestyle.

The wellness team will guide you through gentle stretches to improve flexibility and balance and increase range of motion, making it easier to perform everyday tasks.

Euchre Group

MONDAYS, 10 A.M.

Card Room

Another card game comes to Masonic Village, and it will be fun for all! Euchre is described as a plaintrick game for four players in fixed partnerships. Just five cards are dealt for each player, and the object is to win at least three of the five tricks –with an extra bonus for winning all five. Come check it out; partners will be paired upon arrival.

Genealogy Group

Jim Stuber is a resident at Masonic Village with an extensive background in genealogy. He led the Mt. Lebanon Genealogy Society for 14 years. He now leads a group once a month to discuss and share knowledge on topics of genealogical interest.

Meditation Circle

MONDAY AND WEDNESDAY, 8 A.M.

Activity Room 2

The practice of meditation is a powerful tool to find a sense of well-being, peace and relaxation. It involves sitting quietly, focusing on the present moment and calming the mind. We will spend a few minutes each session sharing experiences and close with a 20-minute silent meditation. All are welcome to attend. David Solomon Returns: Finding Elizabeth’s Soldiers

MONDAY, JUNE 2, 4 P.M.

WQED Pittsburgh has been tracking down families of soldiers, or the soldiers themselves, who were drawn or sketched in Europe by the late Pittsburgh artist Elizabeth Black. This documentary shows the dedicated efforts of producer David Solomon and volunteer researchers to get the portraits to appreciative families. It’s a fascinating combination of history, modern day research, old-fashioned detective work and community goodwill.

Sustainable Living Committee

The Sustainable Living Committee encourages individual practices of the Four Rs: “Refuse” (ex. plastic straws), “Reuse” (ex. glass jars), “Reduce” (ex. plastic water bottles) and “Replace” (ex. tote baks instead of plastic grocery bags). The Masonic Village General Store carries numerous products that support sustainable living.

Todd DePastino Presents: The Conclusion of Alexander Hamilton

Todd concludes his series on Alexander Hamilton with the decline and fall of our first Secretary of the Treasury, following Thomas Jefferson’s many attempts to have him removed from office. We’ll cover Hamilton’s scandalous affair with the young Maria Reynolds and his subsequent exile from politics. But it was Hamilton’s feud with Aaron Burr, one still shrouded in mystery, that spelled Hamilton’s doom. Come learn how Hamilton won his famous duel with Burr in 1804, a victory that cost him his life.

Donna Billings-Davis and her Dog, River

While there are no SCHEDULED art classes on Wednesday afternoons, you can still work on the skills you learned in one of Donna BillingsDavis’ watercolor classes or on a project from another instructor from 1 - 3 p.m., in the Art Studio. Donna will work with you individually to improve your watercolor skills. She is also planning a plein air outing in the new dog park. Don’t forget that Donna brings her certified therapy dog, River, with her on Wednesdays. He looks forward to your visits!

Global Links was founded in 1989 in Pittsburgh by three people who saw a way to connect useful surplus medical materials from U.S. hospitals and health care facilities to the needs of public health systems in communities that lack resources.
