Please join us as we welcome back officer Tyler Seidel and K-9 Arlo. Officer Tyler and Arlo work for the Northwest Regional Police Department. Arlo helps patrol work, drug detection and tracking. He is a German Shepherd Belgian Malinois mix, imported to the United States from Slovakia. Officer Seidel and Arlo hope to see you for this interesting and informative program.

“SWING!” is a high-energy Broadway musical that celebrates the vibrant dance and music style of swing, a genre that became popular in the 1930s and 40s. Featuring a series of dance numbers rather than a traditional narrative, the show highlights the athleticism and excitement of swing dancing, from jitterbug to lindy hop. A Youth Cabaret Day

This production is a creation of Claire Hanlon, an Elizabethtown Area High School alumna, currently studying pre-med at Mount Holyoke College. In The Real Ancient Egypt, four working Egyptologists, Betsy M. Bryan, Melinda Hartwig, Kate Liszka and Kasia Szpakowska, share their insights into this long and complex historical period. Answer these questions and more with Where Our Food Really Comes From, a course led by certified master chef Brad Barnes that is focused on the ins and outs of our commercial food system from its design and history to the people, economics and technologies that make it work. Beginner Slow Dance Workshop

Mindy Ross, of Hummelstown’s DanceSport Ballroom, will lead this 50-minute beginner workshop in slow freestyle dancing. Mindy has taught ballroom, Latin, wedding and freestyle classes for 16 years. She loves introducing new dancers to the joy of dancing, as well as helping experienced dancers continue to learn and fine tune their technique. This workshop is open to residents, employees and community members interested in slow dancing beyond the “stand and sway” motion. Singles and couples are welcome, and you may stay with your partner or rotate — it’s up to you! Singles will rotate with the dance instructor.

“Before and After the Border: One Man’s Journey Home”

FRIDAY, JULY 25, 2 P.M.

Attend a book signing and talk with authors Ricardo and Kathy Sánchez. Their book offers a heartfelt exploration of the experiences that drive individuals to seek new beginnings far from home. Through the personal story of Ricardo, who began his journey as an unaccompanied minor, this book uncovers the deep-rooted causes of migration from Latin America. It sheds light on the challenges and triumphs of life in the shadows while opening the door to meaningful conversations on immigration. Kathy’s parents are residents Jim and Virginia McCall.

Ringgold Band

The historic Ringgold Band, located in Reading, is one of America’s first community bands. Ever since its formation in 1852, the band has continued a longstanding tradition of providing southeastern Pennsylvania with fine musical entertainment. Their diverse concerts include familiar classics, challenging new works, symphonic overtures, show tunes, marches and more. Charles Ebersole, band director, is a native of Lancaster County and has enjoyed an active career teaching and conducting.

Lower Paxton Township Band

The Lower Paxton Township Variety Band is a 25 to 30-piece big band style jazz band. Directed by Jim Milbrand, the group consists of former students, musicians who reside in Lower Paxton Township and its surrounding communities and middle and high school student musicians. The band’s arrangements are mostly authentic “record” copies of original artists, making the band a local favorite and one of the only jazz big bands in the area. The Baird Wellness Center offers an array of cardiovascular and strength equipment, functional training, personal training and group fitness classes. Massage therapy and wellness workshops on mind, body and spirit are also offered.

Open daily, from 5 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Staff are available Mon. – Fri., 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. Group exercise classes are broadcast on MVTV Monday through Friday, in the morning.

“Pay as You Go” for year-round group fitness classes on land and in the water with a punch card. 2025 HARVEST HUSTLE 3-MILE RUN/WALK

Saturday, Sept. 27, 9 a.m.

As the autumn HARVEST begins, let’s get moving and HUSTLE together! Join your fellow Masonic Village community members for a 3-mile run/walk around our beautiful Elizabethtown campus.

There is NO COST to participate in the race. All participants will receive a custom designed T-shirt and other goodies at packet pick up on Sept. 25 and 26, between 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., at the Baird Wellness Center. Refreshments and post-event snacks will be provided.

Never ran or walked in a race before? We are offering an 8-Week Race Training Program for walkers and runners. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned runner or walker, we have a program tailored for your success!

Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners for the run and walk. Raffle prizes will be drawn at the end of the race for all participants.

Pre-registration is required through the Baird Wellness Center before Aug. 1. There is NO day-of registration.

Who: Open to all Masonic Village residents, employees, employee spouses, employee dependents age 14+, retirees and retiree spouses. Please note: For safety reasons, children under 14, strollers and animals are not permitted. When: Saturday, Sept. 27; event begins promptly at 9 am.

Where: The run/walk starts and finishes at the Veterans Grove near the picnic pavilion.

Hiking Club

The Hiking Club is off to Pine Grove Furnace State Park. Meet at 8 a.m. at the fountain in the rear of the Freemasons Cultural Center parking lot to carpool. Travel time to the park is approximately one hour. Please bring a water bottle, hiking poles (optional), raincoat, sunblock and a snack.

At the park, we will hike 0.75 miles on the Pole Steeple Trail to Pole Steeple. We will then hike back to the Pine Grove Furnace State Park on the Appalachian Trail for a total distance of 5 miles. A shorter option will be available. We will have an opportunity to visit the Appalachian Trail Museum, which includes an historic trail shelter and artifacts that belonged to other hiking pioneers such as Grandma Gatewood, Earl Schaffer (the first person to thru-hike the trail), Gene Espy and Ed Garvey. Following lunch at the camp store, we will return to Masonic Village mid-afternoon.
