e Coaching Industry Market Size & Insights for 2023

by Mindy McManus

Coaching is a profession that is not regulated by the government. Anyone can take a one-week class and say they are a coach. Therefore, when seeking out a good, qualifed coach, it is important to look for a few key items to ensure that your coach has gone through a rigorous training and examinaton. Coaching takes tme and practce to grow into your coaching skills.

When I am looking to refer a client to another coach, I check to see how many hours of training they received and if they are accredited from a reputable coaching accreditaton source. How will you know? You can ask or you can look for a Credly badge from their coaching insttuton or from the accredited body from which they received their certfcaton. For instance, I chose to become certfed through the Internatonal Coaching Federaton (ICF). I selected ICF because that is the accreditaton body my job required at a prominent healthcare system at the tme.

ICF ofers three tracks for certfed coaches. The frst path is the Associate Certfed Coach (ACC) is 60-plushours of training and 100-plus hours of paid coaching. The second path is the Professional Certfed Coach (PCC) is 125plus hours of training and 500-plus hours of paid coaching hours. The third path, which is the one that I am working toward now, is the Master Certfed Trainer (MCC) is 200-plus training and 2500-plus paid coaching hours.

Becoming a certfed coach is one of the best things that I could have done for my career. It helped me to deepen my coaching skills so that I can beter serve my clients. When it comes to coaching, we can always get beter. It takes a lifelong learning mentality and the need, want, and desire to serve others. I am proud to be a part of PWT’s coaching academy where we help to elevate the coaching world with qualifed and certfed ICF coaches.
