National Lineworker Appreciation Day
Every year on July 10, utilities across North America celebrate the dedicated people who keep our communities powered: lineworkers.
At EQUS, they’re more than employees - they’re our neighbours, friends, and fellow co-op members. These skilled professionals respond to outages in the toughest conditions, travel long distances, and maintain the infrastructure that keeps rural Alberta running.
Powerline work is demanding and dangerous. It takes technical skill, an unwavering commitment to safety, resilience, and heart. Many of our lineworkers have served their communities for decades, some across generations.
This July 10, help us recognize their essential work. Share your thanks by using #ThankALineworker and tag @poweredbyEQUS on social media for a chance to be featured! If you see an EQUS crew in the field, give them a simple wave or a word of appreciation.

$1,500 To Power Up Your Education!
Time is ticking! EQUS is once again investing in the dreams of our members and their families through our annual scholarship program but the deadline is fast approaching.
Since 2015, we’ve awarded $46,000 in scholarships to support students in post-secondary and trades education. This year, we’re offering four scholarships of $1,500 each to help fuel your academic journey and reduce financial stress.
But this isn’t just about good grades. We celebrate students who are engaged citizens: those who demonstrate academic dedication, community involvement, volunteerism, and personal growth. If that sounds like you or someone in your household, don’t miss this opportunity.
To be eligible:
- You must live in Alberta.
- You must be an EQUS member or the child or dependent of a member in good standing.
- You must be enrolled full-time in a post-secondary or apprenticeship program that’s at least two years long.
- Students of all ages are welcome to apply.
To apply, submit:
- A completed application form
- A personal essay
- Two reference letters
- An official transcript
- Proof of enrollment

At EQUS, we’re all about community, and we want to hear your story! That’s why we’re excited to announce an exclusive giveaway just for our members! Share your voice, and you could win $1,500 towards your energy distribution bill!
