Introducing our Guest Speakers
Kate McShea
Kate McShea began playing on the Redcliffe Peninsula for Redcliffe PCYC before joining Margate/Peninsula Power to play in the senior women’s teams at a very young age.
Moving on the Queensland Academy of Sport Football program, Kate went on to represent Queensland and Australia at senior level. This included 2000 Olympics, Asian Cup and Women’s World Cup.
McShea's sound reading of the game and timely tackles were key to Australia's rise in the mid2000s at these major competitions.
After captaining the Brisbane Roar (then Queensland Roar) to the first ever W-League Premiership and Championship in 2009, Kate retired from Football.
My fondest memory would have to be from the opening ceremony of the Sydney Olympics, obviously we were the last athletes to enter the stadium. Just walking through the tunnel before we entered the stadium, with all the other Australian athletes and there was just a buzz and hype in the air. When we got to the end of the tunnel and walked onto the athletics track and there was this almighty cheer like I have never heard before. It's a feeling I will never forget and I don't think ever experience again.”
Warren Moon
Warren Moon joined the Brisbane Strikers from 2003 in the National Soccer League (NSL). He played in the 2003 and 2004 seasons before the NSL was superseded by the Australian A-League. Moon was signed by Queensland Roar for the 2005 inaugural A-League season. He played with the Queensland Roar, where he made 14 appearances and scored 2 goals. At the end of the 2005 season, Moon travelled to Scotland and signed with Queen of the South.
Moon then returned to Australia after struggling with injury and signed as a coach/player for Brisbane Premier League club Eastern Suburbs in 2008. Moon took charge of Eastern Suburbs in the Brisbane Premier League for 2008. In his first full year of coaching he took the club from 10th the previous year to champions, on the way making it to the Premier Cup Grand Final where they were beaten on penalties by Peninsula Power. 2009 Moon signed for the Brisbane Strikers in the Queensland state league. After securing the 2009 QSL champions medal, Moon signed for the 2009 Brisbane Premier League champions Peninsula Power.
In 2012 Moon was appointed head coach of Peninsula Power along with long time friend and player Scott MacNicol. In 2013 and 2014 won the Brisbane Premier League Grand Finals and Canale Cup as a player/coach at Peninsula Power. Warren and Scott successfully transitioned from players to coaches here at Peninsula Power.
At the end of the 2014 season he was offered head coach of Queensland Lions, where he once trained with the Queensland Roar.
Following success at Lions in 2020 he was offered the professional A League Brisbane Roar Head Coach job.
In 2022 Warren parted way with Brisbane Roar and is looking at various coaching options for the future.

HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES
The Peninsula Power Hall of Fame Award is an award that recognises both “on field” and “off field” achievements and includes players, officials, coaches and committee members.
The recipients will receive awards in tonight’s inaugural induction which takes into account individual involvement back to the formation of the club in 2000.
To be eligible for induction, a candidate needs to have contributed something significant and beyond the expectations of the positions held and to have advanced the cause of football in our club. There are many who have contributed over the years, however, a distinguished selection deserve special acknowledgement in recognition of truly exceptional contribution to our clubs rich history.
Tonight’s recipients have all met the criteria and more will be inducted every year at this annual event.
The Hall of Fame Honour Board, generously donated by Alasdair Auld, is displayed at AJ Kelly Park in the Legends Lounge. It ensures recipients will be forever remembered for their efforts in our club’s history.
We are pleased to announce this year’s Hall of Fame Inductees are:
