EDITORIAL BLOOMIN O que passará na cabeça de uma tartaruga de pequenos centímetros a caminho do mar? Será que tem noção dos perigos? E se sim, terá isso qualquer tipo de importância na decisão de avançar abraçando a areia a caminho do mar salgado que será grande parte do seu habitat natural? Saberá ela que mal nasce entra numa espécie de roleta russa com os predadores que a sobrevoam?

O que dirá a tartaruga-mãe sobre o desconhecido? Sobre como a pequena se deve defender para sobreviver? Haverá explicações aos mais novos ou é suposto terem de aprender por si, andando de microplástico em plástico, até ao sufoco final?

Talvez a frase mais ouvida nos últimos meses tenha sido a de que o mundo mudou por causa de uma pandemia. É um facto. Mas houve quem se conseguisse reinventar de alguma forma.

Não é fácil, nunca é, nunca foi. Muito menos para quem está a começar a dar os primeiros passos.

Falar de resiliência na moda é um eufemismo.

Haverá dias em que apetece desistir e em que se questiona se os passos dados foram os mais corretos. Mas há muito valor na moda portuguesa, e muito desse valor está a dar os primeiros passos. Os BLOOMERS do Portugal Fashion são o exemplo perfeito disso mesmo.

O querer não é suficiente para se conseguir, mas é um bom caminho para ser percorrido. Com, lá está, resiliência, essa característica fundamental para quem acredita que é possível perseguir, e cumprir, o sonho. Um sonho que é para ser vivido durante muitos e bons anos. Exatamente como a tartaruga pequena acabada de sair do ovo e que percorre aqueles metros até chegar ao mar. E que, chegando lá, se arrisca a viver centenas de anos.

BLOOMIN EDITORIAL What goes through the mind of a small turtle on its way to the sea? Is it aware of the dangers?

And if so, does this have any kind of importance in the decision to move forward embracing the sand on the way to the salty sea that will be a large part of its natural habitat?

Does it know the moment it is born I that it enters a kind of Russian roulette with the predators that fly over her?

What will the mother turtle say about the unknown? About how the little one must defend itself to survive? Will there be explanations for the younger ones or are they supposed to have to learn for themselves, going from micro-plastic to plastic, until the final suffocation?

Perhaps the most heard phrase in recent months has been that the world has changed because of a pandemic. That is a fact. But there were those who managed to reinvent themselves in some way.

It is not easy, it never is, it never was. Much less for those who are taking the first steps.

To speak of resilience in fashion is an understatement. There will be days when you feel like giving up and wondering if the steps taken were the most correct. But there is a lot of value in Portuguese fashion, and a lot of that value is taking its first steps. BLOOMERS from Portugal Fashion are the perfect example of this.

Wanting is not enough to achieve, but it is a good way to go. With resilience, a fundamental characteristic for those who believe that it is possible to pursue, and fulfil, the dream. A dream that is to be lived for many good years. Just like the small turtle that has just hatched from the egg and travels those metres until it reaches the sea. And that, getting there, risks living hundreds of years.

Exactly like the image of a piece of clothing that is yet to be designed.

Esta assenta na sua arquitetura, usando uma linguagem de ângulos imponentes, geometrias que se intersetam e linhas picadas, levando assim à criação de peças clássicas e irregulares.

— EN The collection presented is inspired by deconstructivist architecture, focusing on the architecture of the architect Daniel Libeskind, thus calling itself 'LIBESKIND'. It is based on his architecture, using a language of imposing angles, intersecting geometries and dotted lines, thus leading to the creation of classic and irregular pieces.

RÚBEN COSTA — PT 'Hamlet' de William Shakespeare, ganha vida através desta coleção, inspirada então não na imagem delicada, doce e inocente da personagem presente em 'Hamlet', mas sim no retrato de Lisa Klein que a descreve como uma jovem com coragem, inteligência e sem medo, totalmente viva preparada para se proteger a si e aqueles que ela mais ama. A coleção 'OPHELIA' representa assim o tempo medieval, mas numa perspetiva e estilo atual, mantendo as linhas que lembram o antepassado.

— EN William Shakespeare's 'Hamlet', comes to life through this collection, inspired not in the delicate, sweet and innocent image of the character present in Hamlet, but in the portrait of Lisa Klein who describes her as a young woman with courage, intelligence and fearless, totally alive prepared to protect herself and those she loves most.

The 'OPHELIA' collection thus represents medieval time, but in a current perspective and style, maintaining the lines that resemble the ancestor.

JOANA CARMONA Icelanding — PT Foi numa ida casual à Islândia, país nórdico rico em cultura que, despertou em mim um gosto especial pela arte da manualidade. Esse gosto estava adormecido e latente em mim, todavia foi aí que desabrochou.

A arte da manualidade, bem enraizada na minha família, foi-me lentamente incutida pela minha avó em de Trás-os-Montes, quando ocasionalmente passava horas vê-la trabalhar no seu imponente tear manual. Com movimentos rápidos das suas mãos tecia peças encantadoras em que na sua execução punha uma grande paixão e empenho.

Várias considerações me fizeram viajar por técnicas arcaicas, mas valiosas como o tricot e a tapeçaria, técnicas estas que não podem ficar esquecidas e que me fazem refletir na importância de as perseverar como saberes ancestrais.

Durante a pesquisa intensiva de métodos manuais têxteis, encontrei uma grande inspiração na artista portuguesa Vanessa Barragão pelo seu amor e paixão que mostra nas suas obras de arte.

Consequentemente, aventurei-me e desafiei-me.

Numa tela branca pintei as cores e as texturas da biodiversidade que naquele país presenciei e onde senti uma vontade de pegar nas habilidades nostálgicas, como se fosse um abre olhos para o meu mundo criativo. E assim nasceu Icelanding.

A descoberta de uma sensibilidade. Uma coleção em que se pretende mostrar a experiência fascinante através dos materiais quentes e protetores, das técnicas manuais ancestrais e as cores que aquela ilha gelada exibe.

— EN It was a casual trip to Iceland, a Nordic country rich in culture, that awakened in me a special taste for the art of handicrafts. That taste was dormant and latent in me, yet it was there that it blossomed.

The art of handicrafts, well rooted in my family, was slowly instilled in me by my grandmother in Trás-osMontes, when I occasionally spent hours watching her work on her imposing hand loom. With quick movements of her hands she wove charming pieces in which she put great passion and commitment in their execution.

Several considerations made me travel through archaic, but valuable techniques such as knitting and tapestry, techniques that cannot be forgotten and that make me reflect on the importance of preserving them as ancestral knowledge.

During the intensive research of manual textile methods, I found great inspiration in the Portuguese artist Vanessa Barragão for the love and passion that she shows in her works of art. Consequently, I ventured out and challenged myself. On a white canvas I painted the colours and textures of the biodiversity that I witnessed in that country and where I felt the urge to pick up on nostalgic skills, as if it were an eye-opener for my creative world.

And so Icelanding was born. The discovery of a sensitivity. A collection which it is intended to show the fascinating experience through the warm and protective materials, the ancient manual techniques and the colours that that icy island displays.

CONCEIÇÃO NUNES — PT Inspiro-me numa música que faz parte do filme 'Aldeia da roupa branca', filme esse que retrata um ambiente típico e folclórico pelo qual sempre tive um fascínio. Explorei os trajes folclóricos, algo que é visível em detalhes como padrões, camadas, folhos e volumetrias. Numa atitude urbana as peças apresentam-se em materiais contemporâneos, como a malha termocolada e a lona impermeável, com pormenores gráficos e acabamentos a fio. 'ALDEIA' acaba por ser um beijo entre o passado e o presente, com um piscar de olho ao futuro mas sem esquecer todo o tempo de transição entre eras.

— EN I am inspired by a song that is part of the film 'Aldeia da roupa branca', a film that portrays a typical and folkloric environment that I have always been fascinated with. I explored folk costumes, something that is visible in details such as patterns, layers, frills and volumetries. With an urban attitude, the pieces are presented in contemporary materials, such as thermally bonded mesh and waterproof canvas, with graphic details and wire finishes. 'ALDEIA' turns out to be a kiss between the past and the present, with a blink of an eye to the future but without forgetting all the time of transition between ages.

ANA RITA MARTINS Paper Shapes — EN This collection is visually inspired by elements of Pastelaria Martins, founded by my grandparents in 1983, a physical space central to my childhood, Paper Shapes is a reflection of the environment of the pastry shop and the lovely paper shapes. Pastry chef uniforms brought more traditional elements to the collection, such as double-breasted, classic collars and lined buttons. The creation of folds of various dimensions and shapes comes naturally from their three-dimensionality.

When analysing the collection in general, it is possible to observe an evolution of the silver tone, starting with a print applied on the inside, and at the end, this silver tone is completely exteriorised.

— PT Esta coleção é inspirada visualmente por elementos da Pastelaria Martins, fundada pelos meus avós em 1983, espaço físico central na minha infância, Paper Shapes é um reflexo do ambiente da pastelaria e das adoráveis formas de papel. As fardas de pasteleiro trouxeram para a coleção elementos mais tradicionais tal como o trespasse duplo, colarinhos clássicos e botões forrados. A criação de pregas de várias dimensões e formas surgem naturalmente da tridimensionalidade das mesmas.

Ao analisar a coleção de uma forma geral é possível observar uma evolução do tom prateado, começando por um estampado aplicado no interior, e no final, este tom prateado é completamente exteriorizado.

MARTA COSTA — PT 'The Unanswered Question', do compositor Charles Ives. A sua linguagem sonora inspirou a criação de uma viagem metafórica que representa uma descoberta do eu, através da aceitação pessoal e da redefinição de novas formas, silhuetas e com novas maneiras de percecionar a realidade.

As peças foram trabalhadas a partir da desconstrução da peça, contando uma história sem princípio nem fim sobre a procura constante de respostas que nunca chegam e uma reflexão sobre como encontrar conforto no caos, aceitando que o controlo é uma ilusão e que as respostas da verdade existencial não são absolutas e não se encontram no exterior, mas residem em nós próprios.

— EN 'The Unanswered Question', by composer Charles Ives. His sound language inspired the creation of a metaphorical journey that represents a discovery of the self, through personal acceptance and the redefinition of new forms, silhouettes and new ways of perceiving reality.

The pieces were worked from the deconstruction of the piece, telling a story without beginning or end about the constant search for answers that never arrive and a reflection on how to find comfort in chaos, accepting that control is an illusion and that the answers of the existential truth are not absolute and are not found outside, but reside within us.

VOID (LEONEL FIGUEIREDO E SOFIA RODRIGUES) The Box Without Measures — PT O vazio contém o nada, o vazio como espaço que carrega algo que apenas os mais atentos conseguem percecionar, uma caixa sem medidas, aquilo a que chama-mos memória. Num mundo onde caixas cheias de conteúdo andam à deriva, perdidas e sem propósito, duas colidem, gerando uma rutura do mesmo, assim, tudo se entrelaça, o lugar inicial das coisas, perde-se e já não há como saber onde estas pertencem. Sendo que a tentativa de corrigir o sucedido e colocar tudo de volta ao mesmo sítio será em vão, no entanto quando parece que tudo está perdido, é onde nos encontramos, na caixa sem medidas. Vivemos uma vida inconscientemente afetada pelas memórias que nos moldam e permanecem uma vida inteira, perdê-las teria como consequência perder a noção do ser e toda a essência do indivíduo.

A criança interior é aquela parte infantil de nós que representa a nossa capacidade de inocência, admiração, alegria, sensibilidade e diversão.

Há assim, uma libertação da mesma, possibilitada pelas recordações nostálgicas de infância. Os finsde-semana de pijama, brincar com roupas antigas que evidentemente engolem corpos de tamanho pequeno, todos estes momentos que nos marcam sobressaem assim nesta coleção pela experiência táctil evocada pelos tingimentos manuais, manipulações têxteis e o trabalho de mão das malhas. Um vazio sem medidas que vive em volta do indivíduo e que cresce com ele, como que uma zona de conforto com delimitações ao mesmo tempo que sem, uma vez que esse nada está sempre a aumentar os seus limites à medida que a vida evolui.

— EN Emptiness contains nothingness, emptiness as space that carries something that only the most attentive can perceive, a box without measures, what we call memory. In a world where boxes full of content drift, lost and without purpose, two collide, causing a rupture of the same, thus, everything is intertwined, the initial place of things is lost and there is no way to know where they belong. Since the attempt to correct what happened and put everything back to the same place will be in vain, when it seems that everything is lost, this is where we find ourselves, in the box with no measures. We live a life unconsciously affected by the memories that shape us and remain a lifetime,

losing them would have the consequence of losing the notion of being and the whole essence of the individual. The inner child is that childish part of us that represents our capacity for innocence, admiration, joy, sensitivity and fun. There is thus a liberation from it, made possible by nostalgic childhood memories. The weekends in pyjamas, playing with old clothes that evidently swallow small-sized bodies, all these moments that mark us stand out in this collection for the tactile experience evoked by manual dyeing, textile manipulation and the hand work of the knits. A void without measures that lives around the individual and that grows with him, as if a comfort zone with boundaries at the same time as without, since that nothing is always increasing its limits as life evolves.

REW (CATARINA SERRA E MIRIAM CATÃO) Resiliência — PT A Resiliência é a capacidade de o individuo lidar com problemas, adaptar-se a mudanças, superar obstáculos ou resistir à pressão de situações adversas.

Esta coleção retrata uma deslocação temporal entre o Séc. XVI - Séc. XXI. Do passado da época Vitoriana e do Romantismo para um Futuro de massas, agitação e trabalho frenético.

Surge uma narrativa evolutiva, tanto histórico como interpessoal, pois é visível as mutações internas que se refletem externamente, tornando os looks mais fortes masculinos. Transmitindo-nos a ideia da sua interação com o mundo pesado.

— EN Resilience is the individual's ability to deal with problems, adapt to changes, overcome obstacles or withstand the pressure of adverse situations.

This collection portrays a temporal shift between the 16th and 21st centuries. From the past of Victorian times and Romanticism to a Future of masses, bustle and frantic work.

An evolutionary narrative emerges, both historical and interpersonal, as the internal mutations that are reflected externally are visible, making the stronger looks more masculine. Conveying to us the idea of its interaction with the heavy world.

No meio uma vela que ilumina a sala. Preto e branco.

A relação profunda e tranquila, o passar do tempo.

A chuva continua a fazer barulho. Ao fundo o som das ondas a bater contra a falésia. Outro relâmpago.

Há pouco contacto com o exterior, meses de isolamento. Um novo estilo de vida.

'The Lighthouse' é a minha proposta para a temporada FW21-22. Uma coleção que tem como ponto de partida o filme homónimo de Robert Roggers (2019) e que tenta atualizar alguns dos códigos visuais dos pescadores (e do mundo marinho em geral). Também uma metáfora para o momento presente. …

Passaram-se dias e semanas, aos poucos a chuva parou e as nuvens começaram a desaparecer, é hora de abrir a porta e sair. Ar puro com sabor a mar.

Tanta luz que quase cega. É o nosso momento.

The rain continues to make noise. In the background the sound of waves crashing against the cliff.

Another lightning bolt. There is little contact with the outside, months of isolation.

A new way of life.

'The Lighthouse' is my proposal for the FW21-22 season. A collection that starts with the eponymous film by Robert Roggers (2019) and tries to update some of the visual codes of fishermen (and the marine world in general). Also a metaphor for the present moment. …

Days and weeks passed, little by little the rain stopped and the clouds started to disappear, it's time to open the door and get out. Clean air with a taste of sea. So much light that is almost blinding.

It is our moment.

O mundo do tarot está cheio de simbolismos e esta carta não é excepção. Toda a colecção foi baseada em equilíbrios/desequilíbrios de formas, criando opacidades e texturas com técnicas manuais. — EN XVII FW21/22 was inspired by the tarot card 'The Star', 17th Major Arcana of the Tarot. It represents our 'inner heavenly bodies' that guide us in life, hope and belief in the future, inspiration and revelation of the truth.

The tarot world is full of symbolism and this card is no exception. The entire collection was based on balance/imbalance of shapes, creating opacities and textures with manual techniques.

Enquanto decidiam o que fazer com ele - as opiniões dividiam-se entre atirá-lo ao mar ou dar-lhe uma sova - pousaram-no na amurada. A discussão foi-se arrastando, uma, duas horas, até que por fim André soltou um grande brado: “Ou para dentro ou para fora, malandragem! Aqui é que não, que já me doem as costas!'

O que fazer quando o presente é desconfortável mas encarar a mudança se torna ao mesmo tempo tão assustador?

A coleção FW21-22 'Nem ata nem desata' retrata a figura de alguém que vive na eterna indecisão de permanecer na contraditória zona de conforto - que é nada mais nada menos do que uma exasperante zona de desconforto permanente - ou de desistir de resistir à mudança e agir. A contínua condição de incapacidade de decidir assertivamente gera uma sensação de irritabilidade incómoda, molesta.

Nem ata, nem desata. Na espera, o indivíduo deixase ficar, como alguém que prefere viver eternamente no conforto de um pijama.

The collection FW21-22 'Nem ata nem desata' (Not one way or another) portrays the figure of someone who lives in the eternal indecision to remain in the contradictory comfort zone - which is nothing less than an exasperating zone of permanent discomfort - or to give up resisting change and take action. The continuous condition of inability to decide assertively generates an uncomfortable, annoying feeling of irritability. 'Nem ata nem desata' (not one way or another). In waiting, the individual lets himself stay, like someone who prefers to live forever in the comfort of his pyjamas.

MARIA CARLOS BAPTISTA Espaço Negativo Negative Space — PT A coleção ‘espaço negativo’ tem como base o espaço imaterial da memória e a fragmentação física do mesmo. É um espaço pessoal e privado, suspenso no tempo, que nos leva a um sonho constituído por registos fotográficos passados, desde os mais vívidos e recentes até a um passado mais distante.

Uma realidade intransmissível, fria pelo distanciamento e acolhedora pelo retorno de vivências passadas, permite absoluta liberdade de expressão e interpretação. É um espaço invisível, onde se fala da forma e da sua anulação, e a sua materialização depois de uma experiência obsoleta.

It is a personal and private space, suspended in time, which leads us to a dream made up of past photographic records, from the most vivid and recent to a more distant past.

An untransferable reality, cold due to distance and welcoming with the return of past experiences, allows absolute freedom of expression and interpretation.

It is an invisible space, where form and its annulment are talked about, and its materialisation after an obsolete experience.

MARCELO ALMISCARADO — PT Aluído, parte da observação de uma jarra com flores no interior de uma casa. Flores de jardim, retiradas do seu ambiente natural com o objetivo de elevar o valor estético de outro ambiente ao direcionar o foco para estas.

A quantidade de tempo que as flores estão frescas acaba por ser menor que a quantidade de tempo que estão a apodrecer, sendo eventualmente descartadas e substituídas quando já não possuírem o valor estético desejado. São porém preservadas, exibindo continuamente o seu processo de decomposição.

Isto gera uma reflexão sobre a necessidade instintiva de contrariar algo que representa finitude que se sobrepõe à aceitação do desenvolvimento orgânico.

Tentar moldar algo que se está a desintegrar ou algo que morreu, mas que continua a manter virtuosidade. A tranquilidade gerada pelo recorrente pensamento de cessar em oposição à ansiedade de perdurar.

Estas referências aparecem aqui representadas através da exploração dos materiais que são termocolados de forma irregular, conjugados com as silhuetas assimétricas. Isto é enfatizado pelo cruzamento colaborativo com o criador transmedia Gil Monteverde, nas esculturas têxteis encapsuladas em cera que funcionam neste contexto como chapéus.

— EN Coming apart, it arises from the observation of a vase with flowers inside a house. Garden flowers, taken from their natural environment in order to raise the aesthetic value of another environment by directing the focus to them.

The amount of time flowers are fresh turns out to be less than the amount of time they are rotting, eventually being discarded and replaced when they no longer have the desired aesthetic value.

However, they are kept, continuously exhibiting their decomposition process.

This generates a reflection on the instinctive need to counter something that represents finitude that overlaps the acceptance of organic development.

Trying to shape something that is disintegrating or something that has died, but that continues virtuous.

The tranquility generated by the recurring thought of ceasing as opposed to the anxiety of enduring.

These references appear here represented through the exploration of materials that are thermocollated in an irregular way, combined with asymmetrical silhouettes. This is emphasised by the collaborative crossing with the transmedia creator Gil Monteverde, in textile sculptures encapsulated in wax that work in this context as hats.

Entrevista ZÉ CARLOS TAIPA — BLOOM e novos talentos da moda.

O que é que isto significa?

Significa criatividade. A plataforma BLOOM é muito interessante porque dá destaque aos nomes emergentes da moda, que trazem novas ideias e novos conceitos. E nesse sentido, sinto que há maior liberdade criativa, porque a plataforma tem mesmo esse propósito, de mostrar o que há de novo no setor. Depois é o lado gratificante de acompanhar os jovens criadores nos seus percursos e de os ver 'florescer' e ganhar o seu lugar na área da moda.

— És um novo talento já não sendo.

Como é que foi essa caminhada?

Foi um percurso desejado, mas não planeado ao pormenor. As coisas foram acontecendo naturalmente, e as oportunidades foram aparecendo ao longo do caminho. Faço parte da 4ª geração de cabeleireiros na minha família, cresci dentro da barbearia do meu pai. Lembro-me de apanhar cabelos do chão colocar entre os dedos e começar a cortar. Nunca tive medo de sair da minha zona de conforto, e ao longo destes 18 anos de carreira muitas pessoas que me apoiaram e acreditaram em mim.

— A irreverência no BLOOM é precisa?

Sem dúvida que sim. Se o BLOOM dá palco aos talentos de amanhã, são também eles que trazem as novas ideias, as novas formas de pensar e de fazer. Por isso, sim, acho que a irreverência é um dos ingredientes do BLOOM.

— Qual foi o teu momento marcante na moda?

Há 2 momentos que são marcantes para mim: o primeiro a nível nacional, quando a Lupabiológica me fez o convite para ser criativo da marca LUPA. Agradou-me a abordagem e o facto de a marca querer apostar em sangue novo. Tem sido muito gratificante acompanhar o crescimento de uma marca nacional que consegue conquistar o seu lugar no meio de multinacionais. É um motivo de orgulho.

O segundo momento marcante aconteceu em fevereiro, quando integrei a equipa de cabeleireiros do Guido Palau nos desfiles da Dior, Maison Valentino, Versace, Fendi e D&G. Foi uma honra poder trabalhar com o cabeleireiro que é para mim A referência em termos de moda.

— Casa sobre rodas ou roda gigante, o que faz mais sentido?

Casa sobre rodas, sem dúvida alguma.

— Achas que o mundo em geral - e o da moda em particular - devia ser feito de pessoas com os valores no sítio certo?

O mundo seria um sitio muito mais bonito.

O mundo da moda é competitivo, mas isso não tem que mudar os nossos valores, até porque eu acredito que quando fazes as coisas por amor, só coisas boas podem acontecer.

— Ficavas chateado se o teu filho quisesse cortar o cabelo com outra pessoa?

Acho que não ficava chateado. Por acaso o primeiro a cortar o cabelo ao Santi foi o meu pai, fiz questão de lhe dar esse presente.

— É de noite e estás no Alentejo. Usas uma lupa ou um telescópio para ver as estrelas?

Usava uma lupa, claro. Uso Lupa há quatro anos e vejo muito melhor as estrelas.

— Qual é o teu lugar perfeito?

Mergulhado na natureza, onde posso andar descalço e sentir-me livre, é na natureza que recarrego energias.

— Se não fosses hairstylist querias ter sido outra coisa?

Sim, queria ter sido astraunauta.

— São 14h e estás cheio de fome. Ias até onde para comer o teu prato preferido?

Não ia, comia no restaurante mais próximo.

— O que te vês a fazer daqui a 10 anos?

Uma viagem à volta do mundo.

— Tens alguma tesoura de eleição?

Tenho uma marca de eleição - Osaka.

— O nervoso faz parte do teu trabalho?

Nervosismo não, ansiedade sim. Em todos os trabalhos. Sinto-me mais confiante o que acalma a minha ansiedade, mas nunca deixei de sentir.

Já comentei isto com alguns colegas com mais anos disto, e todos me disseram: 'quando deixares de sentir, sai fora'.

— Preferes confortável ou tendências confortáveis?

Confortável, sempre.

Interview — BLOOM and new fashion talents.

What does this mean?

It means creativity. The BLOOM platform is very interesting because it highlights emerging fashion names, which brings new ideas and new concepts.

And in that sense, I feel that there is greater creative freedom, because the platform really has this purpose, to show what is new in the sector. Then it is the rewarding side of accompanying young creators on their paths and seeing them 'flourish' and gaining their place in the fashion area.

— You are no longer just a new talent.

How was your journey?

It was a journey that I wished for, but not planned in detail. Things happened naturally, and opportunities appeared along the way. I am part of the 4th generation of hairdressers in my family, I grew up in my father's barbershop. I remember picking up hair from the floor and putting it between my fingers and cutting it. I was never afraid to leave my comfort zone, and throughout these 18 years of career many people supported me and believed in me.

— Is the irreverence in BLOOM needed?

Without a doubt. If BLOOM sets the stage for tomorrow's talents, they are also the ones who bring new ideas, new ways of thinking and doing. So, yes, I think irreverence is one of the ingredients of BLOOM. — What was your defining moment in fashion?

There are 2 moments that were defining for me: the first at the national level, when Lupabiológica invited me to be creative with the LUPA brand. I liked the approach and the fact that the brand wanted to bet on new blood. It has been very gratifying to accompany the growth of a national brand that manages to win its place among multinationals. It is a source of pride.

The second striking moment took place in February, when I joined the hairdressing team of Guido Palau at the Dior, Maison Valentino, Versace, Fendi and D&G fashion shows. It was an honour to be able to work with the hairdresser who is for me the reference in terms of fashion.

— A house on wheels or a Ferris wheel, which makes more sense?

A house on wheels, without a doubt.

— Do you think the world in general - and the fashion world in particular - should be made up of people with values in the right place?

The world would be a much more beautiful place.

The fashion world is competitive, but it doesn't have to change our values, because I believe that when you do things for love, only good things can happen.

— Would you be upset if your son wanted to cut his hair with someone else?

I don't think I would be upset. Actually, the first one to cut Santi's hair was my father, I made a point of giving him that gift.

— It's night and you're in the Alentejo.

Do you use a magnifying glass or a telescope to see the stars?

I would use a magnifying glass, of course. I have been using a magnifying glass (Lupa) for four years and I see the stars much better.

— What is your perfect place?

Immersed in nature, where I can walk barefoot and feel free, it is in nature that I recharge my energies.

— If you weren't a hairstylist, would you have wanted to be something else?

Yes, I wish I had been an astronaut.

— It's 2 pm and you're hungry. How far would you go to eat your favourite dish?

I wouldn't go anywhere, I would eat at the nearest restaurant.

— What do you see yourself doing 10 years from now?

A trip around the world.

— Do you prefer any specific scissors?

I have a brand of choice - Osaka.

— Is nervousness part of your job?

Nervousness no, anxiety yes. In all jobs. I feel more confident which calms my anxiety, but I never stopped feeling it. I already mentioned this to some colleagues with more years in the business, and they all told me: 'when you stop feeling, just leave'.

— Do you prefer comfortable or comfortable trends?

Comfortable, always.
