The Forgotten Hero

I miss you, Yes, you, The one in pajamas, Who laughs like a hyena, Or like an ogre, Because you thrive in PJs, While lounging in them all Sunday, Because you take pride in being a happy panda

I miss you, Yes you,

The one who jumps at the prospect of dressing up, Whether to rock a 7 pm party, Or a 9 am Monday, Or a 4 am safari - with your bedhead, To whisper a wide-eyed "hello" to surprised sleepy owls, Or a random stroll in the park, Ready to greet trees and clouds.

I miss you,

The you that gives wind a chase for its money, With your crazy run, When you're having fun, Jumping with adrenaline, Shouting like a four year old, To hear your own echoes in the mountains

I miss the sparkle in your eyes, Your big round eyes, When they smile, And draw all the attention away, From that nose you love to wrinkle or flare, Depending on your expression of the hour, When you're really excited, Or mesmerised by the intriguing mysteries around you.

I miss your alternate laugh, That sounds like melody,

When you're incandescently happy , 1 Or joyful in heart, Swaying with the breeze, Feeling light as a feather.

I miss you, with your hair down, Curly mass shifting from one shoulder to another, Every now and then, Because today you had that glorious shower, The one that relaxes you to no end Eyes focusing on task at hand, Head tilted to an angle, Murmuring to the end of a pen or fingernail, Or nibbling on your own lip absent-mindedly, Lost in theories and ideas, Thinking cap on, Mind as free as your locks, All with minds of their own, Strikes and bingos to come.

I also miss you, as you're quiet, Cooing and whispering to a new soul you've chosen to help heal, When your head and heart amaze me with their power.

I miss you, Yes you, In times like these, When you forget who you've been, And the fact, That you've got strength too For all the light you carry, You carry your share of weight too, That sometimes brings you down, Because you're human and dark too, And most importantly, an imperfect one.

You forget that there's rainfall before a , So take a bow and let the rain fall. It's allowed for you to turn into me - I exist, Or did you forget?

But you forget what is joy for days, As you struggle to make the dying embers last the night. Useless as it is to try, You hold on desperately to the sinking Sun, Clutching with hands and body to bring it back up, Wishing to turn your back on what lies ahead, Fearful of the change. Forgetting the biggest adventure of all, Is life itself, And you were a born explorer baby, The toughest one you've seen so far, Yet even tougher meant to be Tensile as you are, Thinking on your feet Life's a journey, Beyond a cycle, Of night and day, And this one is yours, Exclusively yours. So own me, Like you do every other side of you.

Remember that the next time, You see a Sun melting, That the night has its own wonders Keep those boots ready, Torch and all, For when you need to venture out And jars handy, To store beauty and fireflies on your way Who knows, what you might see, Or, become this time --
