Leap

You love to wade in the shallow waters, You love to bathe in the cozy Sun, You love the easy tides at the shore, And the comfort of your birth nest. Love the warmth of it all, The comfort of love, The familiarity of it, The aroma of it. Until it’s time. When the wind doesn’t touch you anymore, When the familiar Sun warms up everyone except you, When the tides before on the mirror of your gaze and leave you dry, When the showers that made you feel dance only leave you wet, That’s how you know. You just can’t stay, You need to step out, Cross the waters, Bear the tides, Explore the lands unknown, Take the road unfamiliar, Take the leap you talked about in zest. You can be thrilled, You can be worried, You can be scared out of your wits, And you’ll take all that, Because you can’t take any more of that tide in you, Can’t dismiss the unsettling in the pit of your stomach, Can’t overlook the nagging feeling, Can’t sleep a night more on that train you know you must to get on, And so you take the leap.
