CLUB NOTES AND UPDATES
Welcome to Parc Ynysderw for this Dragon Signs Amateur Trophy Round Two game and a warm welcome to everyone associated with our neighbours New Inn Football Club. Welcome also to our Match Officials led by Andrew Wallen
Last week was not something I want to dwell on as it was an all round unexpected performance by the lads against a Clydach team who were defensively sound and that limited us to very few chances. It was a tough loss in the Swansea Valley derby
Back to today quickly then, and we welcome New Inn FC from the Gwent Premier League in the FAW’s Trophy competition. Our visitors are in today’s 2nd round courtesy of a 4-1 win at Cardiff Bay Warriors followed up with a 2-1 win over Clydach FC, our opponents last week. We have progressed to this round with wins over Carmarthenshire’s Burry Port and Rhondda’s Treorchy BGC. Today’s visitors currently sit 5th in the Gwent Premier league and we know they will be tough opponents.
Last week the Under 18s gained a walkover after Llandeilo Town failed to raise a team. Meanwhile there were some great performances, and some mixed results, for our grassroots boys and girls teams and our Academy teams. Good luck to all teams this weekend and hopefully the weather was better than it is as I type this programme entry.
Thank you to our sponsors today and if you are interested in more information on our sponsorship options then get in touch with them at ptfccommercialteam@gmail.com
Good luck to both teams today and see you at Pontardawe Rugby Club after the game
Cheers All
Gary The Sec.

Our Visitors Today :
Football has been at the heart of the New Inn Community since 1936, when New Inn AFC was founded. Generations of players have represented the village with pride, carrying the club through many challenges and triumphs. After a setback in 2002 with relegation to Gwent County Division Three, the club showed resilience, bouncing back with promotion in 2012–13.
The modern era has brought some of our proudest moments. In 2021–22, New Inn AFC were crowned Gwent County League Division One Champions, earning a deserved promotion to the Premier Division. Since then, the club has held its own at Tier 4 of Welsh football, finishing 6th in 2022–23 and 2023–24, and pushing on to a strong 4th place in 2024–25.
Our facilities at Woodfield Road remain central to village life, and alongside our senior teams, New Inn Juniors AFC has been inspiring young players for over 50 years. This thriving youth setup ensures that the next generation will continue our traditions both on and off the pitch.
As a club, we are more than just football we are a community. We are proud of our heritage, excited about our future, and grateful for the support of everyone who helps make New Inn AFC what it is today.
