Passions: Clara Cassino

Clara Cassino has become a regular face on the women’s polo circuit, competing in and winning some of the most prestigious titles in the world including The Women’s Argentine Open in 2019 and 2020 as well as The Deauville Ladies Cup. We caught up with Clara while she was based in Argentina playing for El Overo Z7 UE in the VI Women’s Argentine Open

What is your biggest passion and why? My biggest passion is horses and polo. Which sports do you like outside of polo? I like and follow many sports, but polo is my main passion.

What is your all-time best polo memory?

Winning my first Women’s Argentine Open in 2019 with El Overo Z7 UAE (myself, Milly Hine, Hazel Jackson & Lia Salvo), we beat La Dolfina Brave 10-5 in the Final.

Who were/are your favourite teammates? Lia Salvo, Hazel Jackson and Milly Hine.

Hardest opponent? I am my own toughest opponent.

Favourite film?

Wonder Woman.

Favourite song/

album? I Wanna Dance with Somebody by Whitney Houston.

Favourite food/dish?

Asado.

Favourite hobby outside

of polo? I don’t have any hobbies outside of polo! Most prized possession? My horses.

Favourite celebrity and

why? Leo Messi because of his sportsmanship and values and he is so humble.

Best holiday

destination & activity? My family farm in Vedia Buenos Aires and spending time with my family.

Best pony and why? Gitana, because she has accompanied me in my career from when I was 10-years-old until I won my first Open in 2019.

Are you passionately superstitious? No, I’m not superstitious at all.

Describe yourself in three words? Passionate, shy, responsible.

One thing which would surprise us about you? Haha I’m good at cooking an Asado!
