Tedworth Park Polo Club kicked off their arena military season with a trophy named after and donated by Colonel Dickie Winchester who has done so much for the Club and military polo.

The Winchester Trophy saw the RLC, Royal Navy, AMS and Veterans compete across two leagues with both games being incredibly even and it going to goal difference, but in the end the AMS team took home the trophy!

Henry Whichelo-Page stepped up to play in his first ever tournament and even scored some goals to help the AMS win the tournament.

The Club’s next military tournament is on 8 January, so get the date in your diary now.

The Teddy Roosevelt is a military tournament created by Karl Hilberg, Peter Rizzo, Rob Phipps, and Russ Sheldon in the hope of continuing to involve and immerse those in the military, or with ties to the military, in the world of polo. Four teams took part this year (Bar Spur/ Patton Legacy Sports, Shweiki Media, Polo InterActive and Scuderia SA) and each team had at least one player with a military connection. Shweiki Media’s Gal Shweiki was playing in the tournament for the tenth time and his experience paid off as they won the championship match against Polo InterActive to secure themselves The Teddy Roosevelt title.

The Teddy Roosevelt Teams:

Bar Spur/Patton Legacy Sports: Karl Hilberg, Mark Osburn & Brady Williams Shweiki Media: Dani Gibson, Gal Shweiki, Ariel Mancebo Polo InterActive: Jose Velez, Joss Leufrancois & James Glew Scuderia SA: Lauren Sterr, Wes Alston & Trey Crea
