Llegada al país de turistas desde Europa, EE.UU. y Canadá supera números prepandemia

Tourist arrivals from Europe, the U.S., and Canada exceed prepandemic numbers

Guanacaste Aeropuerto superó los registros del primer cuatrimestre del 2019. al 2019 cuando nos visitaron 124 437 turistas.

Costa Rica recibió en los primeros cuatro meses del año a 967 820 turistas por la vía aérea, es decir, un -0,7% de variación con respecto al mismo periodo del del 2019, cuando nos visitaron 974 718 turistas.

Estas cifras son sumamente positivas y alentadoras para el sector turismo que se ve fortalecido con la recuperación de mercados como el estadounidense, el canadiense y el europeo, que ya superaron las cifras del 2019.

Estados Unidos, nuestro principal mercado emisor, registró el arribo por la vía aérea de 536 056 turistas entre enero y abril, superando en un 5,4% de la cifra que nos visitó en el primer cuatrimestre del año 2019 cuando lo hicieron 508 454 turistas.

América del Norte contabiliza un 4,2% más de llegadas de turistas, es decir, 691 272 personas, mientras Canadá también se mueve positivamente y suma 131 956 turistas en el cuatrimestre, un 6% más con respecto

Desde Europa arribaron entre enero y abril 185 733 turistas por la vía aérea, lo que significa un aumento del 5,5% en la visitación comparado al primer cuatrimestre del 2019.

Francia es nuestro primer emisor con la llegada en el cuatrimestre de 34 911 turistas, seguido por Alemania con 32 766, Reino Unido es tercero con 31 390, España es cuarto con 14 364 y Países Bajos se coloca quinto con 11 849 turistas.

Por su parte México, otro de los mercados prioritarios para el país, continúa el proceso de reactivación y alcanza casi un 77% de las cifras del primer cuatrimestre del 2019.

El Aeropuerto Internacional Juan Santamaría registró 652 371 llegadas internacionales, significando un 93% de los números prepandemia, mientras Guanacaste Aeropuerto superó las cifras del 2019 al contabilizar entre enero y abril del 2023 un total de 315 086 llegadas, un 15,9% más de viajeros que hace cuatro años.

Costa Rica received 967,820 tourists by air in the first four months of the year, representing a slight variation of -0.7% compared to the same period of 2019, when 974,718 tourists visited us.

These figures are highly positive and encouraging for the tourism sector, which is strengthened by the recovery of markets such as the United States, Canada, and Europe, which have already surpassed the figures for 2019.

Our main source market, the United States, saw an impressive influx of 536,056 tourists arriving by air between January and April. This figure represents a notable increase of 5.4% compared to the visitor count during the first four months of 2019 when we welcomed 508,454 tourists.

North America accounted for 4.2% more tourist arrivals, i.e. 691 272 people, while Canada also moved positively and added 131 956 tourists in the four-month period, 6% more than in 2019 when 124 437 tourists visited us.

From Europe, 185,733 tourists arrived by air between January and April, which means an increase of 5.5% in visitation compared to the first four months of 2019.

France is our first issuer with the arrival in the four-month period of 34 911 tourists, Germany with 32 766, the United Kingdom third with 31 390, Spain fourth with 14 364, and the Netherlands fifth with 11 849 tourists.

Mexico, another priority market for the country, continues the reactivation process and reached almost 77% of the figures for the first four months of 2019.

Juan Santamaría International Airport registered 652,371 international arrivals, representing 93% of the prepandemic numbers. In comparison, Guanacaste Airport surpassed the 2019 figures by registering between January and April 2023 a total of 315,086 arrivals, 15.9% more travelers than four years ago.
