The City Manager's Office handles the general administration of the City of Temple and executes the policies and objectives of the City Council. The City Manager is directly responsible to the Mayor and City Council and oversees the day-to-day operations of the City by coordinating all City departments activities and functions, including the development of the Strategic Plan. The City Manager's Office also leads the financial and budget management process for the City and directs the City's efforts to plan for the future.

Aswemoveintothepeakofsummer,it’s importanttorememberthattheTexasheatis morethanjustuncomfortable;itcanalsobe dangerous.Temperaturesoftenclimbwellinto thetripledigits,anditdoesn’ttakelongfor heat-relatedillnessestosetin.Heatexhaustion andheatstrokearetwoseriousconditionsto beawareof.Whileheatexhaustionmaycause heavysweating,dizziness,andnausea,heat strokeisamedicalemergencymarkedby confusion,lackofsweating,andahighbody temperature.Ifyouorsomeoneyouknowis showingsignsofheatstroke,call911 immediately.

Preventionstartswithpreparation.Dressingfor theweathercanmakeabigdifference.When youcan,chooselightweight,loose-fitting,and light-coloredclothing.Wide-brimmedhatsand sunglassescanofferextraprotection,anddon’t forgetthesunscreen.It’salsoagoodideato planoutdooractivitiesduringthecoolerparts oftheday,suchasearlymorningorlate evening.

Additionally,whenyou’reoutside,makesure youarestayinghydrated!Agoodruleofthumb tokeepinmindis,ifyoufeelthirsty,youare alreadydehydrated.Drinkplentyofwater,even ifyoudon’tfeelthirsty,andavoiddrinkswith caffeineoralcohol,whichcanincrease

dehydration. If you must be outside, take frequent breaks in the shade or in an air-conditioned space. Check in on vulnerable neighbors, especially older adults and those without reliable access to cooling

For those in need of relief from the heat, all City of Temple public facilities are open to the community during normal business hours. This includes locations such as the Temple Public Library, which provides a safe, air-conditioned space where residents can rest, hydrate, and stay protected from extreme temperatures. We’re proud to offer these community resources and encourage anyone in need to take advantage of them.

Let’s take care of ourselves and each other this summer. By staying informed, watching out for signs of heat-related illness, and utilizing resources like our cooling shelter, we can all enjoy a safer season in the great city of Temple. Development Updates

These are exciting times in the City of Temple! New developmental projects are transforming our urban landscape, promising to bring innovation and vibrancy to our community. With a focus on sustainable design, these projects are set to revitalize our city's core, creating a dynamic hub for residents and visitors alike. Stay tuned for a reimagined Temple that seamlessly blends modernity with its rich heritage, making it a place we love to call home!

Colquitt Park

Colquitt Park, located at 3501 Hickory Rd in Temple, TX, is currently closed for refurbishment as we prepare to install brand-new playground equipment. Dirt and concrete work is already underway, and installation of the new equipment is scheduled to begin on July 5. This exciting upgrade is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance park amenities and create a more enjoyable space for the community.

The installation process is expected to take about three weeks; however, the addition of poured-in-place rubber surfacing may slightly extend the timeline. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete these improvements and look forward to welcoming you back to an updated and improved Colquitt Park.

City Office Holiday & Trash Pick Up Schedule

City offices will be closed on Thursday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth, and will reopen on Friday, June 20.

Solid Waste will run a normal collection schedule on Thursday, June 19. Please have your bins at the curb by 7 a.m.

The City invites the community to help shape the future of Ferguson Park’s new playground Stop by Ferguson Park, 1203 E Adams Ave., between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to view six proposed playground design themes and share your thoughts!

Lunch at the Airport

Wednesday, June 25 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Get ready for good food and high-flying fun! Daddy D’s will be serving up delicious meals from their food truck at Draughon-Miller Central Texas Regional Airport on Wednesday, June 25, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Enjoy a tasty lunch while taking part in exciting aviation activities such as airplane rides (available for ages 5 and up with adult supervision), flight school information sessions, and aircraft tours that offer a closer look at impressive planes. Indoor seating is available, and the event is open to the public.

Come out for lunch, explore static aircraft displays, and take an airplane ride for an afternoon filled with food, fun, and flight. For more information, visit flytemple.com.

Wacky Weather Family Day

Wacky Weather Family Day is rolling into the Temple Railroad & Heritage Museum on Saturday, June 7. If April showers bring May flowers, what do May showers bring? A fun and exciting Family Day, of course! Families are invited to join us for hands-on weather experiments, creative activities, and a day full of science fun for kids of all ages.

STEM Station: Summer Express

The STEM Station, Summer Express is rolling into the Temple Railroad & Heritage Museum for a summer full of hands-on STEM adventures. Designed for kids ages 8–12, this weekly program sparks creativity and curiosity through exciting activities that teach key science, technology, engineering, and math concepts.

The program runs every Wednesday from 10 to 11:30 a m , June 11 through August 6 Regular admission applies (free for Museum Members), and parents attend at no charge. Registration is required and opens May 1 through May 31.

Parks & Recreation

Parks and Recreation plays a vital role in fostering vibrant and thriving communities. By providing accessible and well-maintained parks, recreational facilities, and programs, they create spaces for individuals of all ages to engage in physical activity, socialize, and connect with nature. Due to structural concerns with the roof, Sammons Community Center is temporarily closed. During this time, all programs and events will be relocated to Gober Party House, Wilson Park Recreation Center, Summit Recreation Center, and the Sunglo Building. While Sammons is closed, Sammons memberships will be honored at the Summit Recreation Center and Wilson Park Recreation Center for the duration of the closure, this includes the use of the fitness centers Additionally, those interested in playing billiards can do so at Wilson Park Recreation Center.

Stop by the Mayborn Civic & Convention Center on June 26 for a free Kiddo Card during the Baylor Scott & White Health Showcase! The Temple Police Department will be on-site creating emergency ID cards for kids ages 2–15. Each card includes a photo, physical description, thumbprint, and emergency contact info helping first responders reunite families faster in an emergency

Sock Monkey Circus

Step right up for the Sock Monkey Circus, coming to town on June 18 at 10:30 a.m.! Get ready for big-top thrills in miniature form as Funny Honey and her troupe of clever sock monkey marionettes take center stage in a one-of-a-kind circus performance. This charming and whimsical show brings the magic of the circus to life with tiny yet talented sock monkeys who juggle with jaw-dropping skill, dance with delightful energy, and swing through the air on a flying trapeze.

Lucas Miller: The Singing Zoologist

Join us for a lively and educational performance by Lucas Miller, the Singing Zoologist, on June 21 with shows at 10 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Known for his hilarious songs, eyepopping animations, and 100% accurate science, Lucas brings biology to life in the most entertaining way imaginable. From rapping about wetlands to belting out the word "metamorphosis," kids will be dancing, singing, and learning science without even realizing it.

Sound Journeys with Josephine Ashford

Step into a world of deep relaxation and inner peace with a sound bath experience led by certified sound healer Josephine Ashford on June 28 at 11 a.m. Through the soothing vibrations of singing bowls, chimes, and gongs, Josephine will guide participants into a meditative state that promotes stress relief, mental clarity, and a sense of renewal

Summer is here and temperatures are on the rise. To conserve our water resources, please incorporate water conservation into your daily routine.

WATER SAVING TIPS

Irrigate responsibly by watering twice a week and on designated days before 10 a.m. and after 8 p.m.

For homes with an even-numbered address, watering days are Sunday and Thursday.

For homes with an odd-numbered address, watering days are Saturday and Wednesday.

Run full loads in dishwasher and/or washing machine.

Turn off the faucet when not using water while brushing teeth or shaving.

Quickly repair leaky faucets or running toilets.

Monthly Dumpster Drop

We understand how important it is to keep our neighborhoods clean and safe for everyone. That’s why the City of Temple is committed to continuing our Dumpster Drop program. We hope this initiative helps reduce illegal trash and tire dumping, making our community a better place for all of us!

What we provide:

A large container is placed monthly in different parts of town

A separate trailer for the disposal of tires

Trash bags are available through Keep Temple Beautiful

Rakes, shovels, and other tools are available through the Temple Tool Library

This month will include one drop: June 20-23 in the Temple Heights District at Scott Elementary, 2301 W. Ave P.

Recycle Tip: As we approach summer cookouts, please make sure to separate and rinse out recyclable beverage containers such as aluminum cans, glass bottles, and plastic drink bottles from the food waste.

2025 Central Texas AirFest

The 2025 Central Texas AirFest brought hundreds of attendees to Draughon-Miller Central Texas Regional Airport for an action-packed weekend of aviation, entertainment, and community fun. Guests enjoyed thrilling aerial performances and parachute demonstrations.

The weekend offered a full day of activities, with opening ceremonies, flight demonstrations, and hands-on experiences for all ages. Thank you to everyone who came out to support this incredible event, we look forward to welcoming you back next year!
