“It’s one of the biggest and one that’s the most fun,” said Erica Donovan, executive director of PARC, Inc.

Schools in Plainville will be spending Veterans Day honoring local service people. “I’m thrilled to be having school on Veterans Day,” said Superintendent Maureen Brummett. “It’s a great way to honor our veterans.”

The non-profit, which provides family-centered services for people with developmental disabilities, will host the 15th annual Frank Robinson Thanksgiving Bowling Classic on Saturday, Nov. 18, at Lessard Lanes on New Britain Avenue. The fundraiser starts at 4 p.m. and ends at 7.

For the last five years, school has been in session in Plainville on Veterans Day while other districts usually have the day off.
