Board of Education member Jesse Gnazzo is concerned about the recent number of school bus accidents in Plainville and wants the district to take steps to ensure students are kept safe. Gnazzo used the board’s open forum Sept. 14, part of the meeting where the members can sound off or ask questions on issues. Gnazzo, a Republican who was elected to the board in 2007, sought answers from Richard E. Carmelich III, director of finance and operations for the district, the administrator who oversees school bus transportation. Hundreds of people jam Whiting Street in downtown Plainville Sept. 19 to eat, listen to music, dance, chat, play games and try their aim at “Dunk the Cop.” The annual event is organized by the Plainville Police Association to raise funds for the Officer Robert Holcomb scholarships awarded to several a Plainville High School graduating seniors. Many shops remained open, restaurants served food, and numerous non-profit organizations and busineses had booths.
