Crematorium hearing draws split crowd By Nate Brown
the air quality in the neighborhood,” Debra Thompkins said. “I understand that there is a growing need for more crematoriums in the state of Connecticut, but I don’t think that’s the point. I think the point is that we have concerns about what’s going to emit from this stack. “This is going to be emitting smoke from burned bodies.” Thompkins wasn’t the only member of the assembly concerned by the smoke. Please, no, no, no.” “I have a lot of kids in my neighborhood that don’t need to be breathing oddball emissions, either,” he said. The Planning and Zoning Commission held a public hearing Tuesday night, April 12, in the Municipal Center Council Chambers regarding a proposed crematorium at 30-B Hayden Avenue.
