Reports show presence of Photoinitiators in Breast Milk.

Photoinitators (PIs) are compounds used in the ink of many types of food packaging.

The substances have been shown to migrate into food and, when consumed, show up in human blood serum. Now, for the first time, researchers report they have detected PIs in human breast milk, although they say the levels consumed by breastfeeding infants are unlikely to be a health concern. The report appears in ACS’ Environmental Science & Technology Letters.

Photopolymerization is widely considered a “green” technology for the manufacture of lightsensitive materials, such as ultraviolet (UV)-curable inks, coatings and resins. In this process, UV light degrades PIs to free radicals and other active substances that harden, or cure, the ink. However, not all of the PIs are used up during the reaction,

and scientists have detected the compounds in food, indoor dust and blood serum. At high enough levels, some PIs have toxic or carcinogenic effects. Runzeng Liu and Scott Mabury wondered whether PIs could pass into human breast milk and, if so, how

much of the compounds breastfed infants were likely to ingest.

The researchers used mass spectrometry to analyze breast milk samples collected from 60 U.S. women. They detected 15 different PIs at a wide range of concentrations: from 0.46 ng/mL

to 81.7 ng/mL. Benzophenone (BP) –– a potential carcinogen –– comprised 79% of the total PIs and was detected in 97% of the breast milk samples. The researchers note that BP is a natural product also present in fruits such as grapes, which could have contributed to the levels in milk. Based on infants’ average milk consumption at different ages, the team estimated that infants younger than one month have the highest daily intake of PIs. However, the maximum amount of BP ingested as calculated by the researchers would still be about 4 times lower than the safe level set by the European Food Safety Authority, suggesting no or minor health risks to breastfeeding infants.

Future studies should explore potential risks caused by simultaneous exposure to several PIs, the researchers say.

Canadian teen developed ‘popcorn lung’ type injury from vaping.

Researchers in Canada have identified a new kind of vapingrelated lung injury they believe is linked to flavorings in conventional vape pens, causing symptoms similar to the “popcorn lung” injury seen in workers exposed to flavorings in microwave popcorn.

The case, published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal, involved a 17-year-old male who developed a form of bronchiolitis, a serious and irreversible lung injury caused by chemical exposure.

The condition has been linked to diacetyl, the chemical that gives microwave popcorn its buttery flavor and a known cause of bronchiolitis. Various studies have also found diacetyl in vaping liquids.

The previously healthy Canadian teen turned up in the emergency department of a community hospital in Ontario last spring with a severe cough.

He was diagnosed with pneumonia and prescribed

antibiotics. Five days later, he was back with worsening symptoms and was admitted and given intravenous antibiotics. He continued to decline and was put on a mechanical ventilator, but still failed to improve.

At that point, he was transferred to London Health Sciences Centre and put on an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, or ECMO, machine - an extreme treatment that takes over the work of the lungs. That stabilized him, but did

not reverse the condition.

“I was concerned his lungs might never recover enough to get him off the machine,” said Dr. Karen Bosma, a London Health intensive care physician and a study author.

Fearing he might need a lung transplant, the team transferred the teen to a regional transplant center in Toronto. Since testing had ruled out infection, doctors decided to try high-dose steroids, which helped reduce inflammation.

The patient had reported using both flavored nicotine vapes and THC - the psychoactive agent in marijuana. Doctors suspected a vaping-related injury, even before the U.S. outbreak had been reported.

Although the case shares similarities with the more than 2,000 cases of vaping-related illnesses in the United States, the injury is different. Instead of damaged air sacs in the lungs, the teen had damaged airways, which his doctors believe were caused by chemical injury.

“This is a new finding,” Bosma said.

Several vaping chemicals could have caused the injury, she said, but the team focused on diacetyl because it has been shown to cause similar illnesses.

Four months after his discharge, the teen still has trouble breathing. Bosma said it is not clear if his lungs will recover.

“In patients with popcorn lung, it’s irreversible.”

It’s been almost a year since the release of Zero but Shah Rukh Khan is yet to announce his next project. The superstar was expected to make the much-awaited announcement on his 54th birthday this year (November 2) but his fans were supremely disappointed when nothing of this sort happened.

Unconfirmed reports about SRK’s next, meanwhile, have been afloat for the past many months.

According to a recent report, SRK’s film slate includes films with directors Rajkumar Hirani, Atlee andAliAbbas Zafar. In fact, the film with Hirani will go on floors inApril 2020, the report says.

“It seems that Shah Rukh has loved all the three scripts and will do all of them, one by one. Raju has already locked SRK’s dates from April 2020 for his movie and that’s happening right away. If all goes well, he might even have a big release next year itself,” reported a source SRK was Hirani’s first choice for Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. However, the superstar, it is said, had rejected the offer. Some even claim that Shah Rukh was approached for 3 Idiots as well. SRK, the report says, will make a guest appearance in Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra, that stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt,Amitabh Bachchan and Mouni Roy in the lead roles. It’s almost like a small role which impacts the whole story and takes it ahead.

Maniesh Paul has given his voice to Kristoff in Hindi version of Frozen 2.

Disney India has revealed that Actor-Anchor Maniesh Paul has dubbed for Kristoff in Hindi version of Hollywood animated movie Frozen 2. While speaking about the same, Paul says that it's extremely overwhelming to be the voice of Kristoff.

"Its extremely overwhelming to be the voice of Kristoff. My daughter is such a huge fan of the franchise that I must admit that it took me some time to compose myself and understand that I was doing this for her. I hope that audiences love this side of me as they revel in the most-awaited Disney film of the year," Maniesh said.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas has given her voice to Elsa and Parineeti Chopra to Anna in the Hindi version of the sequel.

Actress Shruti Haasan has lent her voice to character of Elsa in the Tamil version.

Kriti confirms her relationship with Pulkit Samrat, says she wanted her parents to know first.

After denying the rumors for a long time actor Kriti Kharbanda has confirmed that she is dating her Pagalpanti co-star Pulkit Samrat. the actor further said that she wanted to tell her parents before announcing it to the world.

She said in an interview, “No, they are not rumours. We are dating each other. In all honesty, I wanted my parents to know first that I’m dating someone and when you start seeing someone, it’s I think there’s a time for everything when you’re comfortable talking about it.

Sometimes it can take five years; sometimes it can take five months. In our case, it was five months, but I’m in a very happy place and I have no qualms admitting that I am dating Pulkit Samrat.”

Previously when asked about the rumours she said, “Can you blame them (for spreading the rumours)? We look so hot together. We have such great chemistry and look so cute together. Anybody would guess that we are in a relationship.

Pulkit is very special to me and will always be so.”

Although Kriti did not admit to dating Pulkit, she was all praises for him. She said, “We even complete each other’s sentences while talking. I know what he is thinking. We have connected so much and had a lot of conversation. I think we have come to a point where we don’t need to say anything to each other. We both know what the other one is thinking. He has changed drastically in the last one year and I am in awe. I am so impressed with the way he carries himself, the way he conducts himself and the respect he has for his co-actors and seniors. The actors have previously worked together in Veerey Ki Wedding. Pulkit was previously married to Shweta Rohira from 2014 to 2015. Pagalpanti also stars John Abraham, Anil Kapoor, Ileana D’Cruz and Arshad Warsi. The film is directed by Anees Bazmee and released on November 22.

Ajay Devgn on working with Kajol in Tanhaji: ‘Felt like home on set’ Ajay Devgan and Kajol have worked together in several films in the past including Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha, Dil Kya Kare and U Me Aur Hum. And now, they will be seen together in Tanhaji.Ajay plays the brave Maratha military leader Tanhaji Malusare while Kajol plays role of his wife Savitribai in the upcoming film.

Tanhaji will be Ajay’s 100th release and, asked about his feeling on working with his wife, actor Kajol, on the ambitious period drama, he replied: “I don’t know what the feeling is, because I felt that we are at home and not on a film set. We behaved with each other in front of everybody the way we behave at home. So, I won’t be able to differentiate.”

Ajay was interacting with the media at the trailer launch of Tanhaji. Present at the

occasion were also his co-stars of the film Saif Ali Khan and Sharad Kelkar, besides the film’s director Om Raut, and co-producers Bhushan Kumar and Kumar Mangat, along with Ajay’s close friend Rohit Shetty. Kajol couldn’t be part of the trailer launch because she is away in Singapore to attend her daughter Nysa’s college meet.

About the fim, Ajay said: “Apart from being my 100th film, it’s really a special film because when you a play a historical character like Tanhaji, who has been such a great warrior, it increases your responsibility as an actor.

Sharad (Kelkar) also said the same thing when he was asked about his experience playing the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji

Maharaj in the film. So, it is important to see you don’t portray such characters in wrong manner.”

The trailer of the 3D film gave an impression it will be high on war violence. Ajay is seen doing unbelievable stunts. “As far as the stunts go, I injured myself several times executing them. Right now, my leg is injured,” he revealed.

Asked what preparations he did for the role of Tanhaji,Ajay replied: “I only followed my director. Whatever books or documents we have read for the making of this film, there isn’t much detailed information available about Tanhaji’s behavior, so you have to imagine and maintain dignity of the character while portraying it.”Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior is slated to release on January 10, 2020.

NEWS Over Rs 255 crore spent on flights during Modi's foreign trips in last three years: MEA

NEW DELHI: Over Rs 255 crore was spent on chartered flights for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's foreign engagements in the past three years, the Rajya Sabha was told on 21 November.

In a written reply, Minister of

State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan said Rs 76.27 crore was spent on chartered flights in 2016-17 while in 201718 Rs 99.32 crore was spent.

In 2018-19, Rs 79.91 crore was spent while the bill for 2019-20 has not been received, he said.

NEW DELHI: The examination fee has been increased by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on 'no profit no loss' principle, said Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' .

"The Board has increased the examination fees of class X and XII examination 2020 for all students on 'no profit no loss' principle," he told Rajya Sabha in response to a written question.

The CBSE had in August announced hike in board exam fees across categories.

Lucknow:In her first remarks on the Centre’s decision to withdraw Special Protection Group (SPG) for the Gandhi family, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra downplayed it saying, “That’s a part of politics, it keeps happening.”

Earlier, Union Minister J P Naddahad said there was “nothing political” in the withdrawal of the SPG cover and the decision was taken by the Home Ministry.

The Centre had downgraded the Gandhis’security cover earlier this

month to CRPF Z-plus. They had been under SPG cover since the assassination of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi in 1991.

After the decision of Govt to end SPG cover for Gandhi family, Congress reacted angrily.

However “There is nothing political. The Home Ministry has a very set pattern, and there is a protocol. This is not done by a politician, it is done by the Home Ministry,” Nadda said, amid chaos in the House. “According to the threat perception, security is given

and withdrawn,” he added.

The Congress members on raised the issue in Lok Sabha, protesting against the removal of SPG cover. Congress leaderAdhir Ranjan Chowdhury, during the Zero Hour, said, “There is a threat to the lives of our leaders.”

Former prime minister Manmohan Singh’s cover was also reduced two months ago.

Sources told The Indian Express the decision came after the government identified “gaps that raise concern“.

The CBSE officials had then claimed that a deficit of over Rs 200 crore in conducting board examination for class 10 and 12 has forced the CBSE to hike fees.

"Early board results, measures to make examination leak-proof and error-free evaluation have imposed a financial burden on the CBSE," a senior board official had said.

NEW DELHI: The Congress party launched an attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government for nominating Pragya Thakur, the controversial Bhopal lawmaker, to the consultative parliamentary panel of the ministry of defence.

Pragya Thakur, an accused in the 2008 Malegaon bomb blast case in Maharashtra, is one of the 21 members of the Parliamentary Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Defence headed by defence minister Rajnath Singh.

“Pragya Thakur, a terror accused and Godse fanatic has been nominated by the BJP government to be a member of the Parliamentary Panel on Defence.

This move is an insult to our nation’s defence forces, to our nation’s esteemed parliamentarians & to every Indian,” the opposition party tweeted.

The Congress also said it was ironic that such a person has been

given place instead of opting for clean leaders.

“Bringing such people, against whom the cases are going in court is not good for democracy.

NEW DELHI: Mayank Pratap Singh of Jaipur will soon become a Judge of Rajasthan, having passed the Rajasthan Judicial Services Exam in 2018 on his first attempt. The Rajasthan High Court had incidentally lowered the age for the exam from 23 to 21 this year.

Theme of Met Gala 2020 revealed!!!

So here is good news for all of us as the Metropolitan Museum of Art of New York City has announced the next theme of its iconic Met Gala!! Which is “About Time: Fashion and Duration” for the year 2020.

“The Costume Institute’s spring 2020 exhibition will trace more than a century and a half of fashion — from 1870 to the present — along a disruptive timeline, as part of The Met’s 150th-anniversary celebration,” the Met announced in a press release.

The concept borrows from

“Henri Bergson’s concept of la durée (duration)” and “will explore how clothes generate temporal associations that conflate past, present, and future.”

Virginia Woolf will serve as the “ghost narrator” of the exhibition, the Met revealed.

In 2019, the Met Gala’s theme was “Camp: Notes on Fashion” and was co-chaired by Gucci designer Alessandro Michele, musicians Harry Styles and Lady Gaga, and tennis star Serena Williams.

In her recent visit to India, Christine Storm shot exclusively for celebrity photographer Ichit Anand who is also known for his magical pre and post processing skills.

The shoot was held at one of the upscale restaurant in East of Kailash by the name of 3 Idiotss.

While on her Delhi visit Storm launched her collection inspired by golfers, and envisioned attire freeing the players of the boxy, unflattering styles she was witnessing. She is now planning to bring resort wear to India, inspired by her visit to different countries for which the shoot is already under process.
