PM Tweets "More Power To India-US Friendship" On Trump's Ventilators Offer More power to India-US friendship, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, thanking Donald Trump after US President said his country would donate ventilators to India in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

He said that this pandemic is being fought collectively by all of us. In such times, it's always important for nations to work together and do as much as possible to make our world healthier and free from COVID19.

"I am proud to announce that the United States will donate ventilators to our friends in India," Donald Trump had earlier tweeted.

Mr Trump also said India and

the US were cooperating to develop a vaccine for the deadly coronavirus that has claimed over three lakh lives and infected more

than 45 lakh people globally since it emerged in China in December last year.

However, the White House did

not say how many breathing devices would be sent.

"We are sending a lot of ventilators to India. I spoke to Prime Minister Modi. We are sending quite a few ventilators to India. We have tremendous supply of ventilators," Mr Trump told reporters before boarding Marine One on his way to Camp David.

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said India will be among several countries that would be getting the ventilators. A number of countries, including India, are trying to procure ventilators needed for hospitals to deal with the demand caused by the coronavirus outbreak.

A ventilator takes over the

body's breathing process when the disease has caused the lungs to fail. This gives the patient time to fight off the infection and recover.

Earlier Mr Trump praised India and PM Modi. "India has been so great and as you know your prime minister has been a very good friend of mine. I just got back a short while ago from India and we are very much together," the US President said, referring to his visit to New Delhi, Ahmedabad and Agra in February.

Last month, India allowed the export of 50 million hydroxychloroquine tablets for COVID-19 treatment in the US, the country worst-hit by the pandemic, with 87,530 deaths and over 14 lakh infections reported so far

Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman unveiled the third tranche of government's Rs 20 lakh crore economic package in a bid to revive the Indian economy that has taken a slump due to ongoing nationwide lockdown to curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

As part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's campaign for a 'self-reliant' India, over the past two days, the finance minister has announced special measures like free foodgrains for migrant workers, concessional credit for farmers, working capital incentives for street vendors,

collateral-free loans for businesses including MSMEs and liquidity facility for NBFCs, among other initiatives.

Here are the highlights of Nirmala Sitharaman's address: The Essential Commodities Act will be amended to enable better pricing for farmers, agriculture products including cereals, edible oils, oil seeds, pulses, onion and potatoes will be de-regulated.

Under the amended Essential Commodities Act, stock limit will be imposed under exceptional circumstances like national calamities, famine with

surge in prices. The stock limit shall apply to processors or value chain participants subject ti their installed capacity or to any exporter subject to the export demand.

In a move to strengthen infrastructure in agriculture, financing facility of Rs 1 lakh crore will be provided for funding Agriculture Infrastructure Projects at farm-gate & aggregation points.

Government to bring in law to implement agriculture marketing reforms to provide marketing choices to farmers; law will provide adequate choices to farmer to sell produce at attractive price. A facilitative legal framework will be created to enable farmers engage with processors, aggregators, large retailers, exporters in a fair and transparent manner.

TOP to TOTAL: Operational greens will be extended from Tomatoes, Onion and Potatoes (TOP) to all fruits and vegetable (TOTAL). This is expected to give better price to farmers, reduce wastages and improve affordability of products for consumers.

Rs 500 crore will be allocated for beekeeping initiatives and this will benefit 2 lakh beekeepers in the rural areas. As part of PM's

vision of ‘Vocal for Local with Global outreach’, a scheme will be launched to help 2 lakh Micro Food Enterprises; improved health and safety standards, integration with retail markets and improved incomes to be key focus areas. This will support existing micro food enterprises, farmer producer organisations, self-help groups and cooperatives.

Funds transfer worth Rs 18,700 crores has been done under PM KISAN in past 2 months and PM Fasal Bima Yojana claims worth Rs 6,400 crores released in past 2 months.

Government commits Rs 4000 crore for herbal cultivation in India. The move aims to cover 10 lakh hectare under herbal cultivation in 2 years; corridor of medicinal plants to come up across banks of Ganga.

National animal disease control programme for foot and mouth disease of animals has been launched with a total outlay of Rs 13,343 crore. It will focus on 100 per cent vaccination of cattle, buffalo, sheep, goat and pig population in India.

BMC in talks with Mumbai Cricket Association to Convert Wankhede Stadium Into a Quarantine Centre.

Bogged down by the wave of COVID-19 outbreak, the Mumbai civic administration plans to convert some of the facilities of the famed Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai for Coronavirus patients, officials said. The Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) wants to create a massive quarantine facility, on the lines of the National Sports Club of India, Mahalakshmi. For this it has written to the Mumbai Cricket Association seeking the use of the Wankhede Stadium complex for the Emergency Services staff of BMC A Ward and the asymptomatic patients.

'We can't show concern for migrants by sitting in AC and tweeting', says Sonu Sood

Sonu Sood might act in negative roles in cinemas but this man is a true hero in the real world.

Over the last couple of months, headlines like 'Sonu Sood offers his Juhu hotel for healthcare workers', 'Sonu Sood distributes food among the underprivileged', 'Sonu Sood to feed over 25,000 migrants during Ramzan' have been grabbing our attention.

Recently, the actor organised buses to transport stranded migrant labourers to their hometowns, after obtaining permissions from the Maharashtra and Karnataka governments.

He even went to the bus terminus to oversee their journey.

"I feel it is my duty to help the migrants, the heartbeats of our country.

We have seen migrants walking on the highways with their families and kids. We just can't sit in the AC and tweet and show our concern till we don't go on the roads, till we don't become one of them.

Otherwise they will not have the trust that there is someone standing there for them. So I have been coordinating for their travels, for permissions from different states," Sonu Sood said.

He further claimed: "Now I get so many messages and hundreds of emails everyday saying that they want to travel and I have been coordinating non-stop from the morning

till the evening. This has become my only job during this lockdown. It gives me so much satisfaction that I can't express in words."

He added: "When I see these migrants and all those who are suffering, I feel that we have lost the respect of being a human. I can't sleep properly in the night because the thoughts keep coming in my mind.

The entire day I am reading emails, noting down their phone numbers, trying to call them. There are hundreds of them. I wish I could drive them personally to their villages day and night and reunite them with their families."

"They are the real face of India who have worked hard to build our houses.

They have left their homes, their parents, their loved ones and worked so hard just for us. Today, if we are not there to support them, I think we don't have any rights to call ourselves human beings. We have to come forward and help them with the best of our abilities. We can't leave them on the streets, we can't see them dying on the highways, we can't let those little children walking with them think that there is no one for their parents," he added.

"I feel it should be the duty of every Indian to help them (migrant workers) in whatever way they can. These are the times when you leave everything behind and come together as a family and you become one nation through which you can spread the message that don't worry, this too shall pass. Because we need to stand together and make sure that no one sleeps empty stomach in this country."

Sonu has a major regret - that migrant workers in our society are just numbers and not names.

"One thing I feel very sad about is that we just say that eight migrants died or 10 migrants died or 16 migrants were killed under a train. Why can't we put their names in the newspapers or social media? We have to consider migrants as humans, as equally important as those people killed in a plane crash whose names are mentioned in the news. We need to know who these people are, who lost their lives. We should know their names and respect them," he said.

How does he feel about all the praise is garnering for helping the needy?

"People have been showering blessings from across the globe.

It's overwhelming and it motivates me to work harder. I am there for them, I will be on the roads, I will leave no stone unturned day and night to be with them and make sure that every migrant reaches their destination.

To the best of my abilities I will make sure it happens," concluded the actor.

Akshay Donates Wrist Bands with sensors to detect COVID19 symptoms to Mumbai Police.

A leading health brand recently announced a major breakthrough in early COVID detection through its wrist band with sensors to detect COVID19 symptoms. Being its brand ambassador, Akshay Kumar donated 1000 such wrist bands to Mumbai Police. In fact, the Mumbai Police will be the first organisation in the world enabled to remotely

track and manage the health of its personnel with the preventive health platform.

Earlier, the actor had contributed Rs 2 crores to the Mumbai Police Foundation and saluted the two head constables who lost their lives due to coronavirus.

Haryana Police siezes 792 kg drugs, over 73,000 liquor bottles during lockdown.

Haryana Police has seized 792 kg of narcotic substances, 73,251 bottles of liquor (illicit or transported illegally), 37,363 litres of Lahan (a raw material used to produce illicit liquor) and arrested 840 persons in this connection over the course of the lockdown.

To note, Mouni will be seen playing the role of the lead antagonist in the Brahmastra and will be sharing the screen space with Ranbir and Alia for the first time. Talking about the couple’s chemistry, Mouni asserted that both Ranbir and Alia are brilliant actors and make a cute couple both off and on the screen.

They are as amazing actors as brilliant humans in real life. It was my privilege to

work with them. I love them together. They look so cute together. They look super-duper cute together, both on and off screen,” Mouni was quoted saying.

To note, while Brahmastra has been one of the most awaited releases of both Ranbir and Alia, the movie has been pushed for release quite a few times. Interestingly, the team had announced the final release date of the fantasy drama as December 4, 2020.

However, given the COVID 19 outbreak in the country and the consequent lockdown, Brahmastra release is likely to be pushed again.

“Won’t mind starting my journey again post lockdown” Aparshakti Khurana

Because of the lockdown due to Corona virus, like every other sector even the bollywood industry has stopped working.

Actor Aparshakti Khurana says the nationwide lockdown happened at a crucial time in his career but right now he’s adapting to the changes and adjusting to taking script narrations online.

The 32-year-old actor said with the coronavirus pandemic still looming over, the industry is understandably uncertain about resuming shootings.

“Everybody’s shoot has been affected, it is something which is totally out of our control. That’s not something I am really worried about right now. We all can wait. People’s health and lives are a lot more important than shoots. So we are just waiting for the right time to start the shoot,” Aparshakti said.

Fresh off the success of Pati Patni Aur Woh and his appearance in this year’s Street Dancer, Aparshakti was gearing up for his next, Helmet.

The actor said though the pandemic and the subsequent lockdown happened at a “very weird time” in his career, he isn’t disheartened.

“I’ve been at a different stage in my career, in a transitioning phase. But all these things can wait. I’ve waited for my career even when COVID-19 had not

happened.The pandemic is a very valid reason for everything to come to a standstill. I won’t mind starting my journey again post this, whenever we resume shooting.”

“I’ve started taking video narrations and it is quite bizzare. But that might be the case for the next few days. So I am getting used to this new way of listening to scripts,” he added.

Currently, the Stree actor is elated with the response coming in for his T-Series single “Teri Yaari”, for which he collaborated with Millind Gaba and King Kaazi.

Aparshakti said he had approached T-Series with his own track when the opportunity of teaming up for “Teri Yaari” happened and he came quickly on board for the song which celebrates friendships.

“We shot this before the world came to a standstill, before we went into the lockdown. It’s quite bizzare that right after that we haven’t been able to shoot.

But thankfully the last thing we shot has really been fruitful and the response has been really good.

“This was an appropriate time to release the song, people are missing their friends and loved ones and may be that’s why it has been impactful. The kind of feedback, response we have received is overwhelming,” he added.

Sahil Khattar: People say that my energy was like Ranveer Singh.

Sahil Khattar who will be making his bollywood debut with Kabir Khan’s ’83 as former Indian cricketer Syed Kirmani, had started his career as a Radio Jockey, became a TV host, then became a YouTuber and now is all set to make his impression on Bollywood. Sahil recently spoke about ’83, Ranveer Singh, Shruti Pathak and a lot more in an interview.

Sahil revealed that he was hesitant to do ’83 initially.

“I was offered a lot of films in which I was asked to do character rules or play the hero’s friend. But I was never really inclined. Many times the project wasn’t great enough. At times when the project worked out, it never really took off.

So luck also plays a factor.

Suddenly out of nowhere, Mukesh Chhabra thought I could play the part and even Kabir Khan shortlisted me. I met Kabir and it was a normal conversation in which we discussed many things including sports. I thought there would be 12 to 14 people in the film, what would I do? I was not doing a multistarrer with 3-4 people, why would I do a film with 12-

14? Then I was told to read the script. I read it and realised that in such a film, even if you get to play a tree, you should do it. The script was very nourishing, and I thought if I wasn’t a part of this film, I would not be a part of a historical film in cinema. And if I didn’t would, someone else would.

I thought it was too good.

Like Ranveer, Sahil is also known for his energy.

Talking about his experience of working with Ranveer, he said, “Where I used to do content for YouTube earlier, people used to say that my energy was like Ranveer Singh.

People used to call me bina gym membership wala Ranveer Singh. He was Baajirao and since I was from Punjab, they used to call me Paajirao. When I was hosting the YouTube fan fest, instead of tatad tatad, we had put Khattar Khattar in the song. So from that phase to share screen space with him, it was no less than a dream. He propels you to do much better.”

An astronaut’s guide to taking care of yourself during lockdown Global lockdown because of COVID- 19 is affecting the metal health of many people as social distancing prevents us from having a normal life, doing the things we like, and being with the ones we love. We feel like we are living in one of those films in which the character relives the same day over and over.

Add fear to all of this — Fear of the pandemic, fear of what will happen in the next few days, fear of losing someone. It’s a plate full of anxiety, isn’t it?

What many of us are living through now is not that different from what astronauts experience. They also fear for their lives, for their future. And for months at a time, they can’t go out or be with their families. That’s why they must keep their minds as healthy as possible. Astronauts are welltrained to face a great number of adversities, including long-term confinement. But let’s not forget, they’re human beings. NASA considers the mental health of astronauts one of the most important issues to ensure the integrity of the mission.

“Isolation and confinement are like being alone in a cramped space, and that feeling worsens over time.

The longer and longer a person spends in that kind of environment, there is a potential for bigger and bigger problems,” Bill Paloski, Director of NASA’s Human Research Program (HRP), explains.

This has become even more important, as missions to the International Space Station (ISS) can last for months.

“Expedition crews select-

ed for a stay aboard the space station are carefully chosen, trained, and supported to make sure they can work effectively as a team for six months. Crews for a Mars mission will undergo even more scrutiny and preparation since they will travel farther and longer than any previous human, being more isolated and confined than we can imagine. The types of problems you may encounter are a decline in mood, cognition, morale, or interpersonal interaction,” NASA officials report.

Best Bollywood films of Irrfan Khan.

A veteran of nearly 80 films, he almost gave up acting in his 30s - after an unrewarding decade in TV soaps.

Khan lacked the looks for a traditional Bollywood romantic lead but made his name as a character actor in Hindi cinema and in Hollywood productions like Life of Pi, Slumdog Millionaire and Jurassic World.

As a tribute to the late genius, we present a list of some of his best Hindi films down the years. Take a look.

Raw and violent, Haasil showed the ugly face of student politics where student leaders often get power-mad and become a law into themselves and sometimes the only solution to eradicate such people is to become someone like them.

That’s what happens with Anirudh (Jimmy Sheirgill), who wants nothing better in life than to get married to Niharika (Hrishitaa Bhatt). He becomes involved in the tussle between student leaders Gaurishankar Pandey (Ashutosh Rana) and Ranvijay Singh (Irrfan Khan).

When he shoots Niharika’s cousin accidentally, Ranvijay helps him get out of town. When Anirudh finds out that Ranvijay plans to marry Niharika, he joins hands with slain Gaurishankar’s brother to eliminate him. Irrfan’s villainous turn was much applauded in the film and he won the Filmfare Best Actor In A Negative Role Award for it.

Irrfan essayed his first leading role in a commercial set up in this film. The film’s plot was based on the Hollywood hit Laura (1944).

Uday Singh Rathod (Irrfan Khan) is a brilliant, overworked cop who takes his job too seriously and doesn’t seem to have any other interest besides it. He’s entrusted to solve the murder of a supermodel Maya Solomon (Ilene Hamann) and becomes obsessed with her life in the process. Things get complicated when she turns out to be alive.

The duo has a fling and that sets up a chain of events where her life is threatened again.

is a poor barber who lives with his wife Bindiya (Lara Dutta) and their two children, Gunja (Mitali Mayekar) and Ronak (Pratik Dalvi) in the village of Budbuda.

His life takes a turn when Bollywood superstar Sahir Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) comes to the village for a shoot. Billu had spoken about his friendship as a child with Sahir when they were kids and hence his wife and children, as also fellow villagers, demanded that he should seek out Sahir and introduce them to him.

When he doesn’t do so and when Sahir too doesn’t come seeking him, people begin to think of him as a fraud. On the last day, Sahir makes a speech and mentions how Billu helped him start a new life and that’s when people realise their mistake and start believing in him again.

Paan Singh Tomar (2012)

This is a poignant tale of two souls who get united, thanks to a mistake done by Mumbai’s famous dabbawalas. Ila (Nimrat Kaur) is a married woman seeking to spice up her marriage and hits upon the idea of putting notes inside his lunchbox which she sends via the dabbawalas.

Due to a mix-up, the lunchbox gets delivered to Saajan Fernandes (Irrfan Khan), a widower who is about to retire from his job as an accountant.

They both begin to write to each other, passing on the messages through the lunchboxes and come close. Ila wants to meet him faceto-face but sensing her relative youth, Saajan keeps his distance.

She decides to leave her husband and settle elsewhere and at the last moment, Saajan decides to look for her after all. The film was buoyed by nuanced performances by both the leads.

Life In A Metro (2007) Director: Anurag Basu Cast: Dharmendra, Nafisa Ali, Shilpa Shetty, Kay Kay Menon, Shiney Ahuja, Irrfan Khan, Konkona Sen Sharma, Kangana Ranaut, Sharman Joshi

Set in Mumbai, the film follows a multi-narrative format and presents different facets of love. Irrfan’s portion involves him meeting a girl, Shruti (Konkana Sen Sharma) though a matrimonial site. He fails to impress her at first but later, they become friends. They begin to confide in each other and soon she begins to like him. She tells him she loves him on the day he’s about to get married to someone else. That leads to a merry chase.

Through the end credits, we come to know that they did get married and have a kid. Irrfan won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award for his performance.

Paan Singh Tomar is a biographical film based on the life of middle-distance and steeplechase runner Paan Singh who was forced by circumstances to become a dacoit. He was a seven-time national steeplechase champion in the ’50s and ’60s and represented India at the 1958 Asian Games. He was later killed in police action in 1981. He gets involved in a land dispute in his native village and has to take up arms in order to defend himself.

He kills nine villagers avenging his brother’s death and as a result, is marked as a wanted man by the police. He’s betrayed by a former gang member turned police informer and dies a violent death at the hands of the police. Irrfan was praised for his understated performance and won the Filmfare Critics’ Award for Best Actor for the film.

Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster Returns (2013) Director: Tigmanshu Dhulia Cast: Jimmy Sheirgill, Mahie Gill, Irrfan Khan, Soha Ali Khan

Billu (2009) Director: Priyadarshan Cast: Irrfan Khan, Lara Dutta, Shah Rukh Khan, Om Puri, Rajpal Yadav, Asrani

The film was an adaptation of William Shakespeare”s Macbeth. Maqbool (Irrfan Khan) is the right-hand man of Jahangir Khan (Pankaj Kapur), a powerful underworld don. Like the three witches of Macbeth, two corrupt cops, (Om Puri and Naseeruddin Shah) predict that one day Maqbool will rebel and claim the throne for himself. Nimmi (Tabu), is Jahangir Khan’s mistress and Maqbool’s secret lover. She instigates him to kill Jahangir and one day, he murders his mentor in cold blood. But murder hangs heavily on his soul and he keeps seeing visions of Jahangir’s ghost. Nimmi too goes mad by guilt and the two lovers are tragically killed when the opposition unites against them.

The film is director Priyadarhshan’s take on the parable of Sudama and Krishna.

She lists her name on a popular dating site and agrees to meet Yogi (Irrfan Khan), who is somewhat of a poet and a happy-go-lucky person. In a bid to impress her, he tells her that he’s still on good terms with his past three girlfriends. She wants to test that and agrees to go on a trip to him to Dehradun, Jaipur and Gangtok, where they get to

comedy centring around crime and punishment. Dev (Irrfan) is a man bored out of his skull working for strategies for promoting toilet paper. One day, at the advice of his friend Anand (Pradhuman Singh), he returns home early from work only to find his wife Reena (Kirti Kulhari) in bed with Ranjit (Arunoday Singh). He kind of loses it at this point and starts blackmailing his wife”s lover, leading to all kinds of misadventures for all concerned.

Irrfan holds the film on his able shoulders. He”s the Everyman bewildered by what”s happening around him and coveys it all with a subtle touch.

It”s when we come face to face with the reality of the final rest that we realise the true value of life. And it”s only when someone close to us passes away that we realise that the differences. Avinash (Dulquer Salmaan), loses his father in a road accident up North. Tanya (Mithila Palkar) loses her grandmother at the same accident but the coffins get swapped. Avinash travels from Bangalore to Kochi in the van of his friend Shaukat (Irrfan Khan) and picks up Tanya on the way from her hostel at her mother”s insistence.

The trio keeps getting into one misadventure after another and somehow get out of them unscathed. Irrfan had played an unwilling driver before in Piku but the difference is that along with carrying eccentric passengers, he”s also carting a dead body around this time.

He does get the best lines and his deadpan delivery fetches the most laughs.

Angrezi Medium (2020) Director: Homi Adajania Cast: Irrfan Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Radhika Madan, Deepak Dobriyal Hindi Medium (2017) was a path-breaking film about a couple”s desire to get their daughter admitted to a good school. They try all sorts of loopholes to get that done. Angrezi Medium takes the idea forward and applies it to higher education on foreign shores. It’s about a daughter”s dream to study in a premier college in London and a father’s determination to see the dream through. Radhika Madan and Irrfan Khan look like reallife father and daughter. The bond they share is palpable. You root for them and want them to succeed. You overlook the complete absence of a plausible plot just because of the emotional quotient they share.

If Irrfan Khan was one who lent an extraordinary touch to the most ordinary roles, Rishi Kapoor was the original pin-up boy of the 1970s who grew to become everyone's choice to play multifaceted characters.

During a career spanning more than five decades, Kapoor acted in at least 123 films, including one that was made for the streaming media audience. While the youth of the day would remember Rishi Kapoor from movies such as Mulk and 102 Not Out, their parents and grandparents may recall the likes of Bobby (1973) and Karz (1980).

However, once the movie gets over, it is Rishi Kapoor's cantankerous son who stays with us, in spite of the fact that the dad gets the best lines.

However, Rishi makes up with his stoic presence and subtle yet powerful body language to make the movie yet another milestone for these two actors. No wonder Bachchan was devastated by the younger man's early passing. his wife Neetu Singh essayed his lady love and Rakhee Gulzar was the other woman.

Sargam Platform: Disney+ Hotstar Director: K Vishwanath

Agneepath Platform: Netflix Director: Karan Johar

Synopsis: Rishi Kapoor turns up with some prosthetics for the second time in his career, playing a very senior citizen whose only purpose in life is to take a family picture that can be framed up once he passes on. The movie saw Kapoor and Alia Bhatt on screen for the first time after the latter had officially announced her relationship with Kapoor's son Ranbir Kapoor.

Amar Akbar Anthony Platform: Netflix Director: Manmohan Desai

Synopsis:A remake of the 1980s movie of the same name, the story is that of a mafia don in the making and his tryst with his own destiny. However, the character of Rauf Lala that Rishi Kapoor played in the later version was not part of the earlier story and for the once the actor showcased his ability to portray menace on screen without once raising his voice or beating his chest. This was sheer genius at work.

Synopsis: This tale is about Indian agents going after and nabbing their enemy number one who is cocking a snook at them from across the border. The lead pair of Rishi Kapoor, who plays a version of Dawood Ibrahim and Irrfan who plays an Indian agent lend chutzpah to this saga of bravery and patriotism. Worth a watch for a handful of scenes between Kapoor and Khan, both leaving us within the space of 24 hours of each other.

Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor finds peace at 67 in Mumbai hospital.

Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor breathed his last on April 30. The actor was admitted to HN Reliance Hospital in Mumbai.

Rishi Kapoor was battling cancer since 2018, and was in the US for treatment for a year.

In February, Kapoor was hospitalised twice due to his health issues.

He was first admitted to a hospital in Delhi where he was attending a family function. At the time, Kapoor had said that he was suffering from an “infection”.

The actor’s brother, Randhir Kapoor had earlier told the media that he was admitted to the hospital due to his health deteriorating.

Amitabh Bachchan confirmed the news of Rishi Kapoor’s demise on Twitter.

The tweet by Amitabh read, “He’s GONE .. ! Rishi Kapoor .. gone .. just passed away .. I am destroyed !”

Rishi was diagnosed with cancer in 2018 and he returned

to India from New York in September last year, after his cancer treatment.

An official statement confirming the actor’s demise read, “Our dear Rishi Kapoor passed away peacefully at 8.45 am IST in hospital today after a two-year battle with leukemia.

The doctors and medical staff said he kept them entertained to the last.

“He remained jovial and determined to live to the fullest right through two years of treatment across two continents.

Family, friends, food and films remained his focus and everyone who met him during this time was amazed at how he did not let his illness get the better of him.

“He was grateful for the love of his fans that poured in from the world over. In his passing, they would all understand that he would like to be remembered with a smile and not with tears.

Vice president, Sri M. Venkaiah Naidu, tweeted that he was “deeply saddened” to learn of Kapoor’s death.

Kapoor’s death comes one day after the death of fellow Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan, who was known internationally for his roles in “Life Of Pi” and “Slumdog Millionaire.”

Irrfan Khan, mighty heart & warrior for great cinema, finds peace Versatile Bollywood actor Irrfan Khan passed away on 29 April 2020 at a hospital in Mumbai, where he was admitted for colon infection. The 53-year-old actor had been battling cancer since 2018 and his official spokesperson had confirmed that he was under doctor’s observation. Irrfan is survived by his wife Sutapa and sons – Babil and Ayan Irfan’s eyes were multi-taskers.

They could rage like a bushfire, be warm and tender like a grandma’s lap and convey the chaos inside a head for the world to see. He sourced his eyes and that lean, gangly frame to create a cache of unforgettable characters in both Bollywood and Hollywood.

Shoojit Sircar, his director in ‘Piku’, broke the news of his passing away on social media.

“My dear friend Irrfan. You fought and fought and fought. I’ll always be proud of you…” Sircar wrote on Twitter.

In 2018, the Jaipur-born actor was diagnosed with a malignant neuroendocrine tumour. He underwent treatment in London and recovered to rejoin work last year.

Any actor would be proud to own a resume like him. ‘Haasil’, ‘Paan Singh Tomar’, ‘Maqbool’, ‘Life in a Metro’, ‘The Lunchbox’ and ‘Hindi Medium’ these films are marked by sincerity of performance and polished aesthetics that fetched him awards and applause. more interested in cricket. In the talk show Son of Abish, the actor once said that he was a good allrounder. He was selected to play for CK Nayudu cricket tournament but couldn’t afford the travel cost. A scholarship in National School of Drama reset his career. Irrfan arrived at the institute with Naseeruddin Shah in his head. Aseem Chhabra’s recent biography quotes fellow actor Mita Vashisht as saying, “It was like, “Arre yaar Irfan, Naseer ko chhodh do…We often saw Naseer in his performances.” At NSD, he also met his future wife Sutapa Sikdar (dialogue writer, Kahaani) and Tigmanshu Dhulia.

Dhulia’s Haasil was his breakthrough movie, his career’s turning point. His menacing but magnetic Ranvijay Singh can easily figure among the top 10 Bollywood villains of all time.

The movie plonked but Irrfan soared. “(Director) Vishal Bhardwaj saw Haasil at a trial and decided to cast Irrfan in Maqbool,” Dhulia told this reporter several years ago. Later again, it was Dhulia’s Paan Singh Tomar that fetched Irrfan a national award for best actor.

Irfan built his career, role by role, serial by serial. Between his debut film, Salaam Bombay (1988), where he had the small part of an unsympathetic letter writer and Haasil (2003), he rendered dozens of small parts in tv and cinema. “You want to run your house and you have to be in the game,” he recalled much later in the talk show. He also worked in popular serials such as Srikant, Chandrakanta, Katha Sagar, Bharat Ek Khoj, Jai Hanuman and also directed some episodes of Banegi Apni Baat and Star Bestsellers.

The actor was on top of his game in 2018 when the tumour struck. His last message to his fans was: “Wait for me.”

News of his death prompted an outpouring of tributes and messages of condolences on social media, with fans, politicians, and other Bollywood figures commemorating his life and career.

“Irrfan Khan’s demise is a loss to the world of cinema and theatre,” tweeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “He will be remembered for his versatile performances across different mediums. My thoughts are with his family, friends and admirers.”

Home Minister Amit Shah and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, also shared their condolences online.

“The charisma you brought to everything you did was pure magic,” tweeted Priyanka Chopra Jones.

Amitabh Bachchan, said in a tweet that Khan’s death created “a huge vacuum.”

“An incredible talent, a gracious colleague, a prolific contributor to the World of Cinema .. left us too soon,” Bachchan tweeted.
