PM Tweets "More Power To India-US Friendship" On Trump's Ventilators Offer More power to India-US friendship, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, thanking Donald Trump after US President said his country would donate ventilators to India in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. He said that this pandemic is being fought collectively by all of us. In such times, it's always important for nations to work together and do as much as possible to make our world healthier and free from COVID19. "I am proud to announce that the United States will donate ventilators to our friends in India," Donald Trump had earlier tweeted. Mr Trump also said India and

the US were cooperating to develop a vaccine for the deadly coronavirus that has claimed over three lakh lives and infected more

than 45 lakh people globally since it emerged in China in December last year. However, the White House did

not say how many breathing devices would be sent. "We are sending a lot of ventilators to India. I spoke to Prime Minister Modi. We are sending quite a few ventilators to India. We have tremendous supply of ventilators," Mr Trump told reporters before boarding Marine One on his way to Camp David. White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany said India will be among several countries that would be getting the ventilators. A number of countries, including India, are trying to procure ventilators needed for hospitals to deal with the demand caused by the coronavirus outbreak. A ventilator takes over the

body's breathing process when the disease has caused the lungs to fail. This gives the patient time to fight off the infection and recover. Earlier Mr Trump praised India and PM Modi. "India has been so great and as you know your prime minister has been a very good friend of mine. I just got back a short while ago from India and we are very much together," the US President said, referring to his visit to New Delhi, Ahmedabad and Agra in February. Last month, India allowed the export of 50 million hydroxychloroquine tablets for COVID-19 treatment in the US, the country worst-hit by the pandemic, with 87,530 deaths and over 14 lakh infections reported so far

Highlights of PM Modi's speech on Covid-19 situation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing the nation on the Covid-19 situation said that we are in a state of war against the coronavirus. During his address to the nation, PM Modi said that we have to save ourselves from the novel coronavirus and also move ahead at the same time. Here are some important points from his address to the nation. In this hour of crisis, local suppliers have met our demands; Indians have to be 'vocal about local' and buy products from them. The fourth phase of the lockdown will be different from the previous ones with new set of rules. The announcement for lockdown 4.0 will be made before May 18. You have experienced that due to the reforms that took place in the last six years, today even in this time of crisis, India's systems have looked more efficient. Now the scope of the reforms has to be broadened. I am announcing a special economic package today which will play an important role in the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan'. The announcements made by the government over Covid-19, decisions of RBI and today's package totals to Rs 20 lakh crore which is 10% of India's GDP. We have the resolve to make ourselves self-reliant. India's self-reliance will be based on five pillars - economy, infrastructure, technology driven system, vibrant demography and demand. Today we have the resources, we have the power and the best

talent in the world. We will make the best products, improve our quality, and modernize the supply chain. We can and we will. The world now believes that India can do very well and that we can contribute greatly towards the welfare of mankind. When India speaks of selfreliance, it does not advocate for a self-centered system. In India's self-reliance, there is a concern for the whole world's happiness, cooperation and peace. When the crisis started then not even a single PPE kit was manufactured in India, only a few N95 masks were available. Today 2 lakh PPE kits and 2 lakh N95 masks are manufactured in India daily. It should not be just our dream but also our responsibility to ensure that the 21st century belongs to India. More than 42 lakh people from different countries have been infected by Covid-19, more than 2.75 lakh people have lost their lives due to the virus. In India too many families have lost their dear ones, I express my condolences to them. We are in a state of war against coronavirus. We have to save ourselves from this virus and also move ahead at the same time. This is an unprecedented crisis for humanity. However, we won't get tired or give up. One small virus has devastated the world, not seen before. This is definitely unimaginable for mankind. * It's been four months now since the world started fighting the Covid pandemic.
