The 2 and 2 Challenge is a call-to-action for local associations. It is a blueprint that guides youth hockey leadership through national programs and tools to accomplish their growth goal of acquiring two additional players and retaining two additional players than the previous season’s total.

By participating in the 2 and 2 Challenge, your program will achieve the following: 1. You will drive participation in the 8 & under age group and ensure that your program continues to grow as these players graduate to older age levels.

2 and 2 CHALLENGE programs To complete the 2 and 2 Challenge, committed associations will utilize three programs that drive growth — Retention, Acquisition & Conversion. Retention Welcome Back Week September 17 – 23, 2012*

A National Program to Retain More of Your Youth Hockey Players With almost half of entry-level players leaving the sport by the age of 9, reaching out with a personal invitation to return is vital. During the week of September 17 - 23, 2012, participating associations will personally call and invite families back for another season. Local Association Coordinates:

By taking advantage of all three national programs (Welcome Back Week, Try Hockey For Free Day and host a Transition Program), your association will be recognized as achieving the 2 and 2 Challenge and be rewarded with the following: National recognition on USAHockey.com and in USA Hockey Magazine Banner for display in your rink Web banner for your website Four sets of OneGoal Starter Equipment

Capitalize on the 2 and 2 Challenge by participating in one additional initiative below to achieve Silver Status. Silver Initiatives:

Achieve Silver status and participate in two of the initiatives below to reach Gold Status. Gold Initiatives: Purchase OneGoal Starter Equipment

Girls’ Hockey Weekend (October 13 - 14, 2012)

Apply for a growth grant

Additional Try Hockey For Free Day during Hockey Weekend Across America (February 16, 2013; tentative)
