PROJECT POWER PLAY The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation’s Project Power Play initiative continues to flourish!

Six new rinks have been built toKIDS WILL CHANGE THE FUTURE date, with four more coming by the end of 2014.

The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation, Highmark, the City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County began this $2.25 million project in the summer of 2012 in Phase 1 of a three-year plan. By 2015, 12 facilities in the Pittsburgh area will house new dek hockey rinks. The goal of this project is to introduce children to the game of hockey at the grass roots level and give them a free venue to play, while keeping them active and having fun.

The facilities, 155’ x 75’, are multi-sport courts and each includes a premier dasherboard system like those used in the NHL, players’ benches with shelter, penalty box, scorer’s table, scoreboard, goals and start-up dek hockey equipment.
