The Inception Bangkachao is not only the public community for the local people to gathering and have activities together but also provide basic information for non local people to get to know Bangkachao more clearly. Bangkachao, where is located in the middle of chaos city in Bangkok Thailand, still is the peace and calm place that have the local scent of nature and rural cities.
“
‘We should attempt to bring nature, houses, and human beings together in a higher unity,’Ludwig Mies van der Rohe
“
I conceived this program with the goal of establishing a venue that fosters interaction between local and non-local communities. The design integrates traditional local architecture, reminiscent of nearby housing styles, with a contemporary twist to attract non-local visitors. This approach is exemplifed through architectural elements such as the gently curved roof, inspired by local design principles but interpreted with a modern aesthetic. Additionally, the façade draws influence from traditional Thai window covers known as ‘Fah-pa-kon’.
Through deliberate design choices, the community provides a welcoming environment where locals can convene and non-locals can engage in activities, thereby promoting meaningful interactions between both groups.
02. PLAN
The design integrates geometric forms for collaborative activities among locals and visitors, blending with nature and the river, and includes bicycle lanes for outdoor activities in Bangkachao’s serene environment.
“Your brain has a capacity for learning that is virtually limitless, which makes every human a potential genius.”
- Michael J. Gelb
“The quote ’ by Michael J. Gelb serves as the foundational inspiration for the Thai Fabric Museum. It encapsulates the belief that learning is an eternal pursuit woven into the fabric of our daily lives, much like an infnite loop without conclusion.
The museum is meticulously designed across three floors, each structured with a circular circulation that guides visitors along a continuous journey. This architectural layout allows for an enriching experience where visitors can begin and end at the same point, enabling them to embark on multiple exploratory paths within the museum’s confnes.
Within its six dedicated rooms spread across these floors, the museum unfolds a narrative that spans the breadth of fabric’s signifcance and evolution. It starts with an exploration of fabric’s origins in Southeast Asia, delves into the intricacies of traditional Thai fabric styles, showcases the craftsmanship of fabric makers, and elucidates the journey from raw thread to fnished cloth.
Moreover, the museum illuminates the diverse uses and cultural signifcance of different fabric materials, underscoring their role in shaping societies and traditions. The fnal room reflects on the future of fabric, offering insights into innovative applications that transcend conventional notions of cloth, exploring possibilities for fabric in realms beyond traditional textiles.
In essence, the Thai Fabric Museum embodies the timeless pursuit of knowledge and innovation, inviting visitors to delve deeper into the rich tapestry of fabric’s history, craftsmanship, and future potentials.”.

NORTHERN’S ARTISAN FABRIC MUSEUM
ACADEMIC TERM: THESIS | 2024
PROJECT TYPE: MUSEUM
SITE: MAE-RIM, CHIANGMAI 50180
TASK: CONCEPTUAL, DESIGN, RENDERING
PROGRAM
The Northern’s Artisan Fabric Museum showcases handcrafted textiles from four indigenous groups in northern Thailand: S’gaw, Lahu, Akha, and Hmong. These fabrics are known for their authenticity, made using traditional methods with natural materials. Through their unique prints and techniques, each fabric reflects the cultural heritage and identity of its makers. The museum serves

SUAN MA LI
COMPETITIVE +GROUP PROJECT
PROJECT INTENTION
Suan Ma Li is a project spearheaded by the president of Bangkok to rejuvenate the old town area, centrally located and once popular with tourists but now in need of renewal. Our team’s strategy focuses on preserving the central iconic building while addressing sustainability. The site includes TCDC, a main art center, alongside spaces for a bicycle community, hotel, offces, and a market. The concept emphasizes promoting a healthy lifestyle with
interconnected bicycle lanes and green pocket gardens providing shade and a natural feel, revitalizing the urban environment.
“ARCHITECTURE ENCOMPASSES MORE THAN JUST STRUCTURES; IT SHAPES ENVIRONMENTS TO ENHANCE QUALITY OF LIFE.”
POCKET GARDEN
We’ve strategically added green pocket gardens along the bicycle lanes for shade and aesthetic enhancement, aiming to create a vibrant, sustainable urban environment that promotes well-being and connectivity.
Additionally, rooftop areas provide sweeping views of Wat Saket Ratchaworamahawihan, enriching the project with local flavor and honoring the area’s cultural signifcance. This blend of modern sustainability and local heritage aims to foster community pride and connection.
THE LOOP
In the main building of our program, we’ve implemented a large loop of bicycle lanes that serve as a central circulation system. This innovative design not only facilitates movement from ground level to the building but also encourages physical activity. By integrating these bicycle lanes into the building’s structure, we aim to promote exercise and health among users while creating a dynamic and engaging environment. This approach not only enhances accessibility but also reinforces the project’s commitment to fostering a healthy lifestyle and sustainable urban design.
+ Learning how to collaborate effectively in teams and manage time effciently.
+ Conceptual design, drafting, and rendering.
Project description:
Suan Ma Li represents a competitive project proposed by the president of Bangkok, aimed at fnding the optimal solution to revitalize an old town area known as Suan Ma Li. Situated centrally in Bangkok, this area was once a prime destination for tourists due to its easy accessibility, but has since aged signifcantly. Our team’s approach emphasizes preserving the central iconic building to maintain the area’s historical charm and address sustainability concerns.
The site comprises fve buildings, including TCDC (Thailand Creative & Design Center), which serves as the main art center, along with spaces for a bicycle community, a hotel, offces, and a market. The community’s concept revolves around promoting a healthy lifestyle for the new generation. To achieve this, we have integrated bicycle lanes that connect all buildings, facilitating easy movement and promoting sustainable transportation.
Furthermore, we have incorporated green pocket gardens that provide shade and enhance the natural ambiance along the bicycle lanes. This design not only revitalizes the space but also revitalizes the overall aesthetic, creating a vibrant and sustainable urban environment.
