DepEd records 417,000 learners in early registration prog (PIA) -- As of March 8, 2019, their early registration program. the Department of Education (DepEd) The early registration covers has accounted 417,000 enrollees in Kinder, Grades 1, 7, and Grade 11 or Senior Highschool. Creative Revolution is in Siquijor! Dubbed iLAB Siquijr Creative Workshop Series, it is an online / offline platform that empowers schools, mentors, creatives, communities and students to access and create programs outside the traditional education system which is aimed at empowering and inspiring a generation.
According to DepEd Order No. 3 issued by Sec. Leonor Briones last year, the early registration is conducted “to ensure that all new entrants for Kindergarten, Grades 1, 7, and 11 learners are registered and to locate, identify, and register out-of-school children and youth in the community.” In 2018, DepEd data showed that there were 2.2 million enrollees. For this year, they are targeting around 2.4 million enrollees. “This early registration program is our approach to reach as many learners as we can, to make true of our promise that there will be a universal participation rate among the 5-year-olds, the Kindergarten,” DepEd-7 Regional Director Dr. Juliet Jeruta stressed. The early registration also clarifies issues on school capacity. Wi t h t h i s , s o m e h i g h l y urbanized cities and semi-urban areas implement a zoning system that assigns particular puroks and barangays into a school. Dr. Jeruta said that while parents have a choice as to what school they wish to send their children, DepEd encourages parents to follow the zoning system for their children to maximize their potentials when availing their basic education. This system ensures that schools are able to accommodate each and every learner in a comfortable, convenient way in a conducive learning environment. (Bridgette May Bayhon/ PIA7)

DepEd inaugurates new building SIQUIJOR, June 10 (PIA)--The Department of Education (DepEd) here has inaugurated its new building to serve as new division office located at Helen, Larena Siquijor. Chief, Policy Planning and Research Division of the Department of Education (DepEd) Regional Office, Dr. Maria Jesusa Despojo, said the new division office building aims to provide an enabling and supportive environment for the service providers and inspire the employees to fulfill holistically its mandate which is to provide free and compulsory elementary and secondary education for all Filipinos “A safe and sound working place will motivate workers to do their jobs well. In return, DepEd’s valuable stakeholders can expect more convenient, fast and efficient government services from the DepEd people,” she said. Narrating the history of the old division office, Division Superintendent Ronald Gutay said the Old Office has served as the venue for the various activities and transactions related to DepEd’s aspirations for 41 years. “The new two-storey DepEdDivision Office building timely responds to the demand for a working ambience as the number of teaching-related and non-teaching personnel in the division grows with the implementation of the rationalization program,” Gutay said. The building aims to inspire all Siquijodnons to continue to dream and work for the advancement of the province of Siquijor, he said as he thanked the provincial government for its continued and all-out support to the department. He specially thanked the local government unit of Larena for donating the lot property to DepEd. Governor Villa on his inspirational message expressed his full support to the whole DepEd family. On the same hand, Municipal Mayor Dean Villa through Vice-Mayor Cyrus Vincent Calibo also extended his all-out and continued patronage to the people of DepEd.
