- Pewaukee Joint Parks & Recreation Board Overseeing the operation of the department is a joint Parks and Recreation Board. This advisory board consists of three city residents and one City Common Council Alderman, as well as two village residents and one Village Board Trustee. All of these positions are obtained through appointment by either the City Mayor or the Village President. This board typically meets on the second Wednesday of each month, and is responsible for overseeing the annual budget, policies, and hiring of full-time staff. Our classes focus on all sorts of fun activities but also on skill building in the areas of listening, following directions, and independence. Classes are not set up for parent viewing, but parents are encouraged to come ten minutes early for the first class to meet the instructor.

Learn To Ice Skate Ages 4-12 years

This class develops youths’ basic ice skating skills. Youth will develop confidence on the ice by learning forward and backward skating, turns and stops, and falling and recovery.

Artsy Kids Ages 6-12 years Participating in art activities is a great way for children to find new skills in self-expression, focus, confidence and communication! The following Artsy Kids classes are taught by certified art educators and artists, Richard and Cherrie Larson of Artbark Studios.

KidVentures KidVentures is all about giving children the chance to be kids! Each week will include fun activities including art creations, science projects, challenges like treasure hunts and puzzles and more! This program allows kids to explore many different themes such as investigating the Australian Outback, taking a safari tour through the African jungle, or a deep sea excursion all in one place! Each day will be full of new projects for the kids to enjoy and look forward to, and some to take home. Holiday Gift Making for Kids

This is a cooperative program with the Waukesha County Parks System and local communities. It is suggested that young children bring helmets (bike or other helmet is fine) to the class. Dress warm and come early to allow time to get skates on before class. Total class size is 30 skaters.

Future chefs will be introduced to kitchen basics and safety. Each week will feature an appetizer or main dish and a dessert that the kids get to prepare and sample!

Chess Scholars Grades 1-8

Chess is for everyone! Research has shown a strong link between chess and academic performance in a variety of areas and has been proven to enhance concentration, focus, social skills, and creativity. Chess Scholars, brought to you by AES, is a funfilled professionally run chess program for students of all levels, including complete beginners! During each class there is an interactive instructional period of 15-20 minutes followed by guided practice. Curriculum is well suited for young beginners as well as experienced students! Tree Climbing

Ages 7+ Fun, fitness, adventure! Peaceful and invigorating, recreational tree climbing allows climbers to ascend into and explore trees safely. Gain a new appreciation for trees, nature and your County parks. Recreational tree climbing is a unique activity that can be enjoyed by an individual or in small groups, and is especially rewarding to families. All gear and instruction is provided. Pewaukee Youth

Flag Football Grades 1-4

Welcome to Pewaukee Parks & Recreation’s Pewaukee Youth Flag Football league! We are excited to announce our new partnership with Pewaukee Youth Football. Our mission of providing recreational level flag football to our community remains the same, but with additional resources provided by Pewaukee Youth Football, your child will have even more opportunities to explore the game of football at all levels! Our Flag Football program is for children who are interested in learning the fundamentals of football in a non-contact environment. Emphasis is on beginning to intermediate football concepts in a positive and welcoming environment. Players will learn how to throw, catch, run routes and other aspects of the game that will keep them active and help them develop important sports skills. Volunteer coaches will lead team practices on Thursday evenings, and teams will have games on Saturdays. Head Coaches will have 50% of their child’s registration fee reimbursed at the end of the season. Interested in coaching? ESPORTS Leagues Ages 8-18

Pewaukee Parks & Recreation is proud to announce our new partnership with GGLeagues to provide new gaming opportunities through Esports. Our competitive league will offer your favorite video games and consist of players across the state of Wisconsin. GGLeague referees organize, officiate, and monitor the game sessions in order to ensure proper conduct and sportsmanship. To participate, you must register first with Pewaukee Parks & Recreation Department. Instructions will be sent out via email on how to enroll with GGLeagues. Register by 9/22. Seeing and expressing visual thought processes are greatly developed by drawing. Representations of what we see can be created with graphic marks, dashes, lines, and strokes as we organize and identify our immediate environment and surroundings. Core & More This class is for everyone and anyone! The first 15 minutes of class we’ll focus on specific muscles like biceps & triceps, then spend the next 45 minutes on the Core, which consists of shoulders, chest, back, upper/lower abs, hips and glutes. All exercises run in 1 minute intervals and the instructor, Jenny, will be offering progressions so everyone, regardless of level, will be able to do the moves! There will be both standing and floor elements, but all can be modified as needed! Supplies like hand weights, balls, and bands are provided. Please bring an exercise mat if you have one. Vinyasa Flow Yoga Vinyasa yoga is a dynamic style of yoga which joins physical postures, or asanas, with inhales and exhales, creating a steady internal rhythm for the practice. Our Vinyasa Flow classes are designed to cultivate heat in the body with creative sequences involving sun salutations, standing and seated postures, and a strong focus on the power of breath awareness. This program offers the opportunity to move through the flow at a more rigorous level if the student chooses to do so. Instructor will also make modifications for students that request them. Gentle Yoga Blend Learn the basic postures, strengthen and tone muscles, enhance flexibility and balance, and learn breathing and meditation techniques. Hiking Club With Trish This hiking club is for Boomers+ who want to get out and enjoy some of the area’s beautiful trails with company. Most hikes are not strenuous, but because of the local terrain, one needs to be steady on the feet. Distances are usually in the 2-4 mile range, the pace is moderate, and the leader makes stops to view scenery. Information about where to meet for each location will be sent prior to the program starting. Participants will be responsible for park entrance fees if applicable. Preregistration is required. At the world’s largest Cranberry Festival, you will enjoy over 70 different food booths, 850 art and craft booths and over 100 farmers’ market booths! Door County Treasures

Join us as we head to Door County to see the beautiful colors of autumn. Our first stop on the way up will be Cherry De-Lite, Country Ovens where we will hear their history and have time to shop. Next we will have a guided tour of the Eagle Bluff Lighthouse in Peninsula State Park. We will also drive through the park. We will have a lunch of Swedish pancakes and Swedish meatballs at Al Johnson’s while we check out the goats on the roof. Making Spirits Bright

Waiting Lists

• Any  person who resides in/pays taxes to the City or Village of Pewaukee is a resident and pays the resident rate. • Any business that is in/pays taxes to the City or Village of Pewaukee pays resident rates.

The Department will make every effort to accommodate those on the waiting lists (adding classes if possible, etc.). If any openings become available, you will then be contacted.

All other individuals or businesses are considered non-residents.

The Department does not provide hospital/ medical insurance coverage for people participating in sponsored activities. Further, the Department does not provide hospital/medical coverage for Department sponsored activities. Participants are encouraged to obtain their own insurance coverage prior to and for the duration of the activity they take part in.

It is the policy of the Pewaukee Parks and Recreation Department that no person shall, on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age or handicap, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity, including employment.

Participants who request a refund not less than one week prior to the first day of the program will receive a full refund. Requests within one week of program start or after program start will not receive a refund except in the case of a medical reason documented by a physician or if the participant’s spot can be filled by an individual on the waitlist.

Help Gnorman find his eggs! Somewhere at the park, Gnorman the Christmas Gnome lost all his red and green eggs! Oh no! Each egg holds a very special prize – with the giving season in mind! Some of Gnorman’s eggs have candy, but some of them also have magic tokens! Remaining tokens will be used for additional donations or to exchange for prizes at Gnorman the Gnome’s prize store. Santa will be traveling through Pewaukee on

Sunday, December 19th! Pewaukee firefighters will be helping Santa identify homes with chimneys and homes with a magic key so he can plan his deliveries on Christmas Day! On his route, Santa’s fire truck will be stopping by some parks to say hello to boys and girls and to spread Christmas Cheer!
