DearVoyager, Can you believe it? As I write this, the calendar page is turning to December, marking our fourth issue together. Where did the time go? It truly feels like just yesterday we were opening this "safe space" fortheveryfirsttime. Thank you. Thank you for being here. Thank you for opening these pages, for believing in the mission, and for affirming that Her Voyage is indeed Your Voyage a shared journey of women, wisdom, and becoming. Your support is the fuel that encourages us to keep writing and growing, together.
As the year draws to a close, I want to give you the deepest reminder: You did it. You navigated another year. If things didn't go exactly your way, remember this profound truth: You are chosen to still be here. That resilienceisasuperpower.

This issue is a dedication to courage, especially the courage ittakestoopenyourheart. For my ladies who feel love keeps slipping away, I offer this manifesto: Keep falling in love. Love harder. Fall
Why would you step to the door of a beautiful, warm room and then refuse to enter? Why stand on the threshold of connection when the deepest joy lies within? It is okay if 2024 (or 2025) didn't deliver the lasting romance you hoped for. Remember that in 2026, you hold the open, blankchecktocashinontheloveyoudeserve. But before you sign that check, remember to always love you first. Fall in love with your dreams, date your passion, and celebrate your solitude. When the right person shows up, it will be easy to embrace their love, because you alreadyknowwhatgenuine, unconditionallovefeelslike. So take the time to fall for yourself before you fall for Mr. or Ms. Perfect. And when you get him or if you already have him love him so much. Because in life, we get back whatwetrulygiveout.

Wishingyouhappy, restful, anddeeplylovingholidays. See you next year! We're already cooking up the next issuea veryspecialValentine'sedition.

It’s December, and the world is holding its breath. For many, this month is less about celebration and more about silent, sometimes painful, comparison. The calendar demands reflection, and suddenly, everyone is a judge: Did you achieve what they did? Why aren't you where that person is?
This is the season when the Herd Mentality is at its strongest. We see the mass movement toward New Year's Resolutions, trend diets, and the pressure to have a "perfect" year-end, and our instinct is to fall in line, to follow the pack to safety. But I want to remind you that your best year starts when you refuse to be a sheep.
Look around you this month. We meet the dynamic dichotomy of the zodiac: Sagittarius and Capricorn. These "December Kids" offer a masterclass in how to embrace life differently how to simply not follow.
The Archer (Sagittarius) is the untamed adventurer, driven by philosophical freedom, spontaneity, and the quest for wisdom. They are always on the scenic, unpredictable path.
The Goat (Capricorn) is the master strategist, driven by discipline, structure, and the calculated climb to the top. They take the direct, deliberate route.

They disagree on the how, but they share a core value: unwavering ambition and independence. They don't look to the crowd for validation. They have observed the world from January to November, and when their season arrives, they
If we can take one lesson from these powerful signs, it is this: The best of you starts when you stop being a sheep.
Stop guessing yourself. Stop trying to eliminate that inner voice that whispers (or sometimes screams) when something is wrong, or when something is wonderfully right. That voice is not doubt; it is your power. It is the most sophisticated GPS system God equipped you with. It is your
If you are unsure, if you don't agree with the quiet nudge you're receiving, do not silence it. Instead, treat it like the
Acknowledge It: Take a moment to pause and breathe. Call the Meeting: Grab a cup of coffee, a pen, and paper. Start Talking: Write down what your inner voice is telling you. Write down your logical response. Figure it out together.
Your intuition is your unique map the one that will guide you to your true dreams, your necessary travels, and yo authentic success, not the success dictated by a ma cover or a social media feed.
Follow your dreams. Travel. Never guess yourself. L that power within.
Happy Holidays, and see you next year, my friend.

It’s that time of year again. The wellness industry hits peak fever pitch, flooding your feed with impossible demands: New Year, New You. Detox. Get Shredded. Hustle.
The result? Most of us are burned out and abandoning our resolutions by January 19th (A.K.A. "Quitter's Day"). And why? Because those goals are often fueled by shame, not self-love.
How about this year, the very first resolution is to dump the resolution? We are trading the restrictive, trend-driven checklist for five simple, sustainable shifts. As you close the door on December, take a breath. Did you carry heavy baggage through 2025? Leave it at the door. You don't need permission to start fresh. We're bringing the happiest, healthiest You into 2026 with a roadmap built on kindness, not criticism

Forget the grueling, two-hour "Director's Cut" of last year's failures. When professional athletes or directors want to prove their value, they don't show the missed shots; they show the Highlight Reel.
This year, your first job is to be the kindest, most selective editor of your own life. We're not dragging the weight of 2025's baggage into the new decade. We are packing only the strength, the sweetness, and the resilience you earned. Don't wait for permission to celebrate actively choose what you carry forward.

This gift is made of all your micro-wins and quiet victories. Did you make a difficult phone call you put off for weeks? Did you finally start saving that extra $50 a paycheck? Did you not spiral on a hard day? Every tiny accomplishment releases dopamine in your brain the same neurotransmitter that fuels motivation and happiness. We often wait for the "big win" to feel good, but science confirms that acknowledging these small steps is the key to building momentum and preventing burnout. Give yourself the gift of validation; start a "Done List" instead of a ToDo List, and recognize that the hardest steps often count the most.

The hard parts of 2025 the heavy lessons you wished you hadn't learned are not failures; they are endurance training. This gift acknowledges the moment you felt like giving up, but you didn't. It's the resilience that became a new layer of your skin. Rather than viewing a setback as a reason to quit, look at it as a completed module in the Masterclass of Your Life. What did that painful situation teach you about your boundaries, your needs, or your self-worth? Wrap that lesson in the strength you showed and carry it as your new, unshakeable armor.

This gift is for the people who got you through. The friend who showed up with coffee when you needed it, the colleague who gave you crucial advice, or the book that shifted your perspective. Acknowledge and elevate your resources. We are not meant to do this alone. As you move into 2026, commit to actively nurturing the relationships that celebrated your rise and caught your fall. You cultivated this community, and it is the most valuable asset you own. Give yourself the gift of surrounding yourself only with people who inspire your growth, not those who require you to shrink.

We started this journey by dumping the resolution, and we'll finish it with the simplest, most powerful commitment you can make to yourself: Show Up. No crash diets. No extreme hustles. No impossible goal charts. Your happiness in 2026 won't be found by following the crowd or by chasing a trend that dies before Valentine's Day. It will be found in the quiet

The world will continue to demand you do more, be more, and have more. But Her Voyage is here to remind you that you are already enough. The only person you need to beat is the one who doubted you yesterday. This is your year to trade external pressure for internal peace. This is your year to build habits based on joy, not fear. Go forth, dear Voyager. Unpack your resilience, fall in love with your own strength, and let your genuine light be the only trend you follow.
Happy Holidays. Happy New Year. Happy You.

LANGUAGE IS THE NEW POWER CURRENCY
LANGUAGE IS THE NEW POWER CURRENCY

From the misty, mythic shores of Neah Bay, Washington, a quiet revolution is unfolding, led by a woman whose very being is a defiant monument to cultural survival. Meet Edith Johnston: The teacher, the grandmother, the fierce guardian of a language once deemed extinct, and your next greatest muse. The five-hour drive from Redmond, WA, to the northwestern-most tip of the contiguous United States where the Pacific crashes against the rugged Makah Reservation is a

journey into a different kind of American heartland. And in the town of Neah Bay, I didn’t just meet a woman; I met history, wrapped in a contagious smile.
Edith Johnston, born in 1960, is not just a community elder; she is a living library, a time capsule of wisdom.
Our encounter felt less like an interview and more like a reunion with a long-gone auntie a testament to the instant, deep connection she fosters.
But beneath the warmth of her embrace is an unshakeable, sophisticated pride, honed by generations of resilience.

Edith’s story begins in a way that is now tragically rare. Raised as the second eldest of eleven, she spent her early years living with her grandparents. This was, as she recounts, a "very lucky" experience. It was during those formative years that she didn’t just learn a language; she mastered Makah (Qʷi·qʷidiččaq), a severely endangered tongue belonging to the distinct Wakashan family.

The gravity of this fluency cannot be overstated. For decades, due to government-enforced assimilation policies the very history "we don't want to look deep with anger" but must acknowledge Makah was categorized by linguists as a "sleeping language" with no living first-language speakers. Edith, therefore, is not merely fluent; she is a reparative force, embodying a victory against cultural erasure.

As she explains, the language is her anchor. "It helped her identify with herself and learn how to accept education as a helpful tool." Her pride, she notes, comes from her Makah, Quillayute, Clallam, and Canadian ancestry, a rich tapestry woven across lands that knew no borders until they were drawn by others.

A rich tapestry woven across lands that knew no borders until they were drawn by others.
In 1979, Edith started working at the Makah Museum, sparking a passion for preservation that would define her career. But her method for survival is beautifully, powerfully simple: joy.
"We keep dancing, we keep singing," she explained, her face lighting up with fierce clarity.
"This is how we keep our history going on, we pass it through songs."
This is not quaint tradition; this is high-stakes cultural espionage. Edith’s forebears were often forbidden by the newcomers to practice their sacred ceremonies. Singing and dancing became a secret code, a vibrant, hidden curriculum passed down through generations to ensure the land’s original sounds would never be forgotten. "This land speaks our names, this land knows our sounds, this lands remember our tears," she stated, making the soil beneath our feet feel suddenly animate.

Edith’s journey through early education from day care in 1979 to completing her G.E.D. in 1994, which "opened the door to getting a better education in my career" put her on the perfect path to execute her mission.
Working with young children at Makah Head Start, she found her ultimate purpose: to "pass it [the language] through mouth by mouth down through the generations."
She is a pioneer in a hightech, high-touch movement, ensuring that the Makah language, which links her community to the famed history of their whaling ancestors
(Qʷidiččaʔaχ "the people who live on the cape"), does not fade. Her core belief is that the language must be kept "alive," an imperative she teaches every day.

I visited Edith just before Thanksgiving, and her perspective was the epitome of wit and proud defiance. Do the Makah celebrate? "Yes, we do," she laughed, her eyes twinkling. "Yet our thanks is we are here... we still shine and cling to our land. Our grandparents fought to be here and here we are, so Yes, Thanksgiving is our way to on your face kind."
And as for Columbus Day? She laughed again, a delightful, resounding sound. "Girl, we were here way before he showed his face."
This is the power of Edith Johnston. She is a mother, a grandmother, a teacher, and a living, breathing history book, and now, my new auntie. Her history is the history of a people who never knew borders, whose land was their identity is one every modern woman needs to internalize. It is not a story of victimhood, but of supreme, unapologetic survival.

If you seek to understand the true, resilient heart of America, skip the dusty texts and drive to Neah Bay. Talk to the women who keep the songs secret and the languages alive. Auntie Edith’s voyage is truly our voyage.

Well, new year, new you, new boyfriend! If you’re single and ready to mingle, let's talk strategy. Her Voyage dug deeper to find the five dating apps that will bring you that high-quality connectionthe hope, the husband to be. If the Mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, met his wife on Hinge, why not you? It’s about time to get your soulmate!

1. Hinge: The App Designed to Be Deleted
Hinge is still the undisputed champion

toward people seeking relationships, not hookups.
Bumble remains a powerhouse, particularly for women who appreciate having control over the first move.
The Reason: Its core mechanic requires women to message first in heterosexual matches. This instantly filters out low-effort messages and encourages a more respectful environment. Its features are constantly being updated to align with modern dating needs.
Why It's a Winner: Bumble is excellent for busy, professional women. Its updated "Snooze" feature is ideal for setting boundaries when life gets hectic, and its robust filtering options (for lifestyle, education, political stance, etc.) ensure high relevance.

Perfect for the Her Voyage woman who values ambition, education, and career success. The Reason: The League, while exclusive, maintains its prestige by verifying profiles through LinkedIn and focusing on matching users with similar professional and academic backgrounds. Why It's a Winner: It’s known for high-quality, curated matches and a user base that is serious about finding a partner who matches their driven lifestyle. Its video dating feature allows for quick, low-commitment screening before meeting in person.

Match.com has evolved far beyond its desktop origins and is making a huge comeback with its commitment to personalized matchmaking.
The Reason: After decades in the industry, Match has the most robust database and most complex behavioral matchmaking algorithm. It utilizes data on your past swiping and communicating habits to deliver increasingly accurate suggestions.

Why It's a Winner: It's a great choice for women who feel overwhelmed by free apps. The paid subscription model acts as a filter, ensuring all members are financially invested and serious about finding a relationship. They also offer dating coaches and events, providing structured support.

Tinder is still the largest platform, and when used with extreme intentionality, it can be a goldmine.
The Reason: No other app has Tinder’s sheer volume of users. For women living in less populated areas or those seeking the widest possible net, it offers unmatched reach.
Why It's a Winner: The key is the profile and the first message. Use your profile to clearly signal your relationship intentions (e.g., "Seeking an intentional partner, not a penpal") and only engage with those who have detailed, serious profiles. It’s a numbers game, but the right numbers can lead to a quality meet-cute.

Mastering the dating app game isn't about what you're looking for; it's about how you present what you're offering. These three tips will scream "I am confident and intentional" without a hint of desperation:

Your profile should be 80% about your life and 20% about what you want in a partner. What to Do: Write prompts that celebrate your specific hobbies and passions ("I’m happiest when hiking the Cascades," or "My Sunday ritual involves a crossword and an oat latte"). This creates organic conversation starters. Why It Works: It proves you have a full, exciting life that a man would be joining, not completing. Specificity is attractive; vagueness is passive.

Avoid becoming a digital penpal. Your goal is to move the conversation to an in-person meeting quickly.
What to Do: After 3-5 highquality, back-and-forth messages, pivot directly to the date. Use a confident, pre-planned line like: "I’ve loved chatting, but my schedule is nuts right now. How about we switch to a quick coffee next week so we can see if this chemistry works in person?"

Why It Works: This is the ultimate "I’m not desperate, but I’m all in" move. It respects both of your time and clearly signals that you are focused on real-world connection, not validation scrolling.
Your photo gallery should convey confidence, approachability, and an active life.
What to Do: Use a clear, smiling, main photo (no sunglasses, no hats). Include at least one picture of you doing an activity you love (skiing, cooking, with a pet). Crucially, ditch all group photos and selfies taken in poor lighting.
Why It Works: A diverse gallery communicates social proof and an exciting lifestyle. The smiling, clear first photo is key it screams approachability, which studies show is the number one predictor of getting a match.

Where the Cheese cake Has a Master's Degree

You know those places that don't just serve you a drink, but pull your heart in and welcome your soul with a fresh brew? That's the Native Grounds Espresso experience. Located at 1081 Bayview Ave, this spot is a visual feast social media ready, with the Pacific light streaming in, waiting for you to capture the moment.
The magic is brewed and baked by owner LeAnn Tyler, a culinary powerhouse who chose ancestral roots over city lights. A professionally trained pastry chef, LeAnn honed her skills at a highly regarded culinary institution in Bend, Oregon.
And darling, when I say her cheesecake had graduated with a master's degree, I am not kidding. I have tasted cheesecake across continents, but I truly fell in love with hers. It was heaven on earth, an elevated slice that lands you somewhere between Neah Bay and a New York City bistro.

"I want people to experience the joy of baking," LeAnn explained. This joy is evident in her commitment to craft: everything in the shop is homemade, from peeling potatoes for grilled patatoes to baking the mini biscuits, all created by her hands and supported by her children.
LeAnn’s return home and her journey to open the shop was a classic story of entrepreneurial hustle and heritage. She started at this very location years ago, faced setbacks, navigated challenging moves, and pushed through the pandemic with a trailer shop.

"Sometimes you gotta do what you got to do," she said, "but my ambitions never changed. I just want to keep the light of our community shining bright, I want people to talk about this town after they are gone."
Yes, LeAnn, mission accomplished. A piece of her cheesecake is worth every mile of the five-hour drive.

What she is most proud of is not the high rating or the perfect espresso shot, but the strength of her community specifically, their unwavering support system.
"We keep each other, we see each other. Especially when one loses, we make sure the people who lost never feel alone," she recounted.
"We cook and bring everything for them to make sure the only thing they have to worry about is their pain of loss, not food, not funeral. We come together and lift each other up."
As a trained chef, her most proud moment is cooking for family gatherings and community events. It's the reason she left the city's bright lights: to bring her own light back to her people.
Visit Native Grounds Espresso. Grab a cup of coffee that tastes like the history of the people of the land, and a cheesecake that tastes like hope.

Darling, let’s talk taboo. You may remember that our summer issue of Her Voyage featured a deep dive into VJJ health and happiness. Now, as we end the year and ring in the new, we're focusing on the essentials for protection and pleasure: intimate hygiene and boundaries. Your body will thank you for enforcing these simple, non-negotiable health boundaries it’s not about removing the fun; it's about adding awareness to ensure your pleasure is protected. You will thank us (and yourself) later!
Your body will thank you for enforcing these simple, non-negotiable health boundaries:

Don't let a new man (or even a long-term lover!) go down on you before you know their habits. Does he brush his teeth? How many times per day? His mouth is home to a complex ecosystem of bacteria, and introducing that to your delicate environment can lead to problems.
Darling, do not trust a man's finger. The skin, particularly under the fingernails, harbors bacteria from everything they've touched. Before the fun starts, please insist that your partner wash their hands thoroughly. It's a sign of respect and care. You don't know where it's been and you don't want to find out the hard way

After you are done claiming Mount Kilimanjaro (or any other intense activity), skip the hasty wipe. We’re talking about cleaning with water. Stand up and rinse off with warm water. Why this works: Water helps remove residual fluids and bacteria that can irritate the sensitive vulvar skin. This simple rinse maintains the vaginal area's natural pH balance and prevents external irritation far better than dry wiping.

This is not just great advice it’s medical fact. The bacteria in a person's mouth are vastly different from the bacteria required to maintain a healthy vaginal microbiome. Medical Quote: "Oral bacteria, particularly those related to periodontal disease (gum disease) like P. gingivalis and T. denticola, can be transmitted during oral sex."
Dr. Lauren Streicher, Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, notes that introducing foreign bacteria can lead to Bacterial Vaginosis (BV)or yeast infections by upsetting the vagina's natural environment, which is dominated by protective Lactobacillus bacteria.

The vagina has a naturally acidic pH (typically between 3.8 and 4.5), and introducing highly concentrated oral bacteria can easily disrupt this delicate balance. The Bottom Line: Your mouth contains hundreds of different types of bacteria, and while most are harmless to the mouth, they can wreak havoc when transferred. BV, a common result of such transfer, is a painful imbalance that requires medical treatment. Happy New You, indeed. You have a new, well-informed VJJ!

Speak His
Amplifier: Speak His Amplifier: Speak His Love Language

The Power Move: Identify what makes him feel most masculine, confident, or competent whether it’s his ambition, his ability to provide, or his sheer physical strength. Integrate this into the quiet moments, especially after intimacy.
The Dialogue: Instead of a generic "That was great," whisper something specific: "I love how focused you are when you talk about [his work project]; it makes me feel so safe and excited for our future." Or, "There is nothing in this world that makes me feel as protected as I do when you [hold me, lead me, touch me]."
The Result: You are not just complimenting his performance; you are affirming his role as the "head" in his life, linking his masculine power directly to his desire for you. This devotion is the ultimate form of control.

This is about controlling the narrative of desire by making last night's pleasure bleed into tomorrow's routine. It ensures he carries the memory of you all day.
The Power Move: During post-coital pillow talk, briefly reference a hyper-specific, favorite moment from the experience, but frame it as an anticipation for the future.

The Dialogue: "When you did that thing with your hand right before we fell asleep? I'm going to be thinking about that all day tomorrow... and I have a feeling we need to try that again on Thursday, but maybe with the lights on."
The Result: You are subtlety setting a date and dictating the scene ("lights on," "Thursday") while making him the architect of the pleasure ("when you did that thing"). This gives him a specific memory to replay (the flashback) and a goal to look forward to (the forward), making him utterly distracted in the best way at the boss meeting.
without it knowingit'sbeing turned.Usevulnerable, suggestivestatements thatareactually invitations for him to stepupand lead.

The Power Move: Instead of giving direct commands, express your desire as an effect of his presence or a fear you want him to overcome.
The Dialogue: Instead of "I want you to try this position," try: "Darling, I have this fantasy about [describe the new element, location, or act], but it feels so intense... I need you to be the one to decide when we're ready to try it." Or, "I love the feeling of you being completely in charge of me. You should tell me exactly what you want me to do next."
The Result: You are putting the desired action on the table but explicitly giving him the authority and control to initiate, making him feel masterful and desired. He thinks he's calling the shots; you know you set the whole magnificent play in motion.

The drive to Neah Bay is a journey to the edge of the world; the Makah Cultural and Research Center (MCRC), founded in 1979, is a journey to the dawn of a culture. Outside, the great long wooden figures greet you, sentinels of a history that precedes the map. But stepping inside is where the revolution begins.

This is no dusty collection of relics; this is a sanctuary of resilience, showcasing the 55,000+ artifacts recovered from the Ozette archaeological site often called North America’s Pompeii. When a mudslide buried part of a Makah village centuries ago, the clay created an anaerobic (oxygenfree) miracle, preserving tools, textiles, and art that should have vanished. The Makah Tribe, through the MCRC, retained custody, transforming the disaster into a cultural triumph..

Inside, the past doesn’t just sit still it moves. I entered the life-size replica of a cedar plank longhouse. The floor was not level, but it spoke volumes, telling a history in a million ways, providing an authentic, peaceful glimpse into life before contact. The feeling is less about looking at history and more about stepping into the flow of a people who never left.
This sense of continuous life is the core mission, as explained by Janine Ledford, the Executive Director.
"This museum is continuing to tell stories that were collected from our own community members, that kept their culture, that passed down generation after generations," she shared. The MCRC is the administrative and physical hub that protects the linguistic, cultural, and archaeological resources of the Makah Nation a far cry from a simple exhibition space.

The commitment extends beyond the artifacts. Just like Edith Johnston’s work with the Qwi·Qwi·diččaq language. Ms. Ledford embodies the mission of direct transmission. She told me how she continues to teach what she knows, including the meticulous skill of traditional basket making, ensuring the thread of the tradition will continue to give, generation after generation.

If you are craving history that keeps writing itself, if you want to connect to a spirit of unwavering heritage, your next pilgrimage is clear. Visit the Makah Museum in Neah Bay, WA 98357. For just $10 per person, you can witness history fought and history kept. And while you’re there, grab a $20 Recreation Permit and hike the rugged trails breathe the fresh Pacific air, and feel the land that remembers its sounds.

She’s a Brie cheese e powerhouse, and a filmmaker wh true art require Annie Blumenstein is rewriting the script on what it means to be a modern creator. It takes a profound level of courage to choose a career where the guarantee of a paycheck is replaced by a professor's warning. As Annie Blumenstein, a recent graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Directing Actors for Film and Television from the Academy of Art University, knows: you have to carve your own path.

"Doctors will graduate, lawyers will have their degree, engineers will have their degree, knowing they will get jobs," she reflects. "Yet in film school, even a professor will remind you that there is no job guarantee after walking out of those doors." But Annie has been chasing the light since she was ten, filming "detective thrillers" and fantasy epics like "The Secret World" with her sister and crew (who were convinced Hollywood would call any day). That childhood optimism, mixed with the discipline of an Academic All-PacWest volleyball player, is the fuel for her journey.

Annie’s first professional act was a masterclass in resilience. After earning her degree, she moved to Los Angeles in 2023, only to arrive just as the 148-day WGA strike began, halting nearly all production. Rather than panic, she pivoted, joining Universal Studios' Costume Operations while creating user-generated content (UGC) for major brands, a true creative entrepreneur's hustle.

Eventually, the Hollywood studio system felt restrictive. "That was not it," she says. She craved the freedom to create art with meaning and share her personal vision. Her professional work, which includes her film Voices being nominated for Best Cinematography at the 2022 NXT UP Fest, has given her the technical credibility.

by

Annie learned the value of leading with kindness under the mentorship of Melissa Zurcher, who showed her that kindness isn’t a weakness, it’s a reflection of genuine humanity. Her ultimate leap launching her own venture, Annie Rose Film, in November 2025 to offer social media management and videography, was supported by her first great lesson in belief: her parents.

"They honored her wishes of becoming a dreamer, a filmmaker," even knowing it would be a difficult path. This foundation of support allowed her to build the selfconfidence necessary to weather the industry's storms, including the modeling industry, where she wore the 97 percent rejection rate "as a badge of perseverance." Her highest-profile moment? Walking in the I Am Inclusive Inclusive Runway show, walking for Rebirth Garments, NYI, and Aerie, hosted by Selma Blair.

When asked about the looming wave of AI, Annie offers a perspective that is both pragmatic and soulful: "I think if you can't beat it, join it. Use it as a help to uplift your craft, do not depend on it to direct your craft."

.
Her warning is clear: "Art has soul, humans have souls, so make sure we don't leave it to AI that doesn't have a soul." .

This commitment to authenticity defines her advice to her younger self: "Never follow a trend, be your own trend." It's a philosophy born of selfcare (loving skincare and home-cooked meals, like her favorite brie cheese) and comfort in her favorite fantasy worlds like Harry Potter and Alice in Wonderland.

YOUR HOME, YOUR PEACE, YOUR POWER

Darling, we live in color, and each shade holds a vibrational key to our mood and energy. As the world strides into 2026, the global mood board is clear: we are seeking stability, sophistication, and intentional renewal. The color of the year is more than a trend; it's a dual spirit that captures elegance and purpose. Let the color that shines bright lift your spirit!
The reign for 2026 belongs to a beautiful, grounded balance between nature's elegance and deep sophistication: Universal Khaki and Transformative Teal

This is the primary vibe for 2026. Championed by trendsetters and confirmed by fashion runways, Universal Khaki is not a dull army green; it's a mid-tone neutral that blends classic, warm beige with a sophisticated, earthy green undertone. The Meaning & Vibe: This color embodies timelessness, functionality, and grounded luxury. It's the shade of a woman who is secure, focused on quality, and quietly confident. Khaki promotes feelings of peace, balance, and stability, acting as an elegant anchor in a chaotic world.

Wardrobe: Invest in a Khaki trench coat, tailored trousers, or a versatile silk blouse. These pieces provide a sophisticated neutral backdrop that instantly makes every other color you wear look more expensive. Home & Décor: Use Universal Khaki on the walls of a study, bedroom, or living room. It's the perfect neutral foundation that reads as warmer and more complex than standard grey or cream, promoting tranquility.

This is the essential accent, introducing necessary depth and a sense of vital change. Transformative Teal is a fluid fusion of deep, aquatic blue and sophisticated emerald green. It is rich, saturated, and powerful.
The Meaning & Vibe: This color symbolizes regeneration, resilience, and an Earth-first mindset. It encourages a holistic, mindful perspective on your goals. Teal delivers the drama and depth necessary to feel alive, providing emotional resonance and high-end sophistication to any space or outfit.

Wardrobe: Use Teal for statement pieces like a luxury handbag, high-heel pumps, or an elegant silk scarf. In fashion, this shade is seen on bold evening wear, signaling confidence and emotional depth.
Home & Décor: Bring Teal into your home via velvet throw pillows, a large glass vase, or a piece of abstract art. In the office, a desk blotter or accent chair in this saturated hue can inject creativity and tranquility.

: These two colors are designed to be layered. Pair the solid, grounded structure of Universal Khaki with the deep, intentional focal point of Transformative Teal. For the final layer of classic luxury, always introduce a rich Espresso Brown (via leather goods or wooden accents) to complete your 2026 aesthetic.

The Voyage of the Heart: Finding Love in the Wild with Prisca Kagirwa
Have you ever closed a book and whispered, "Does the author know my life?" That is the irresistible feeling Prisca Kagirwa brings to her debut romance novel, My Facebook Inamorato. In a dating world that often feels like the untamed Serengeti a wilderness where only the strongest survive Kagirwa offers a beacon of hope, humor, and heart. Reading this beautiful novel is an invitation to smile, gasp in an "Aha!" moment, and finally open your mind back up to the possibility of real, enduring romance.

For those flying from Seattle to New York, or simply curled up on a rainy Sunday, this is the captive and utterly enjoyable read you'll want to grab.
The Dreamer from Dar-esSalaam
Let’s meet the extraordinary woman behind the words.
Prisca Kagirwa, a new voice in romance fiction, was born and raised in Dar-esSalaam, Tanzania, in the heart of East Africa. Her love affair with storytelling began long before her teenage years; the smell of ink and the flip of a page have always been her love language. What began as a hobby quickly blossomed into a profound passion, a gift she began nurturing seriously in high school. Her lifelong dream was simply to publish a book.

When asked about the deep, personal stake that fueled her dedication, Prisca spoke from the heart, revealing the vulnerability of a true artist:
"I have been making up stories since I can remember... so after so many years publishing a book was my long life dream. I was scared, terrified and so cautious with getting a wrong publisher... So when I thought of this story which was inspired by my online dating experience it specifically motivates me to publish it because it is reflecting a lot of dating life that is in effect at this time of our life."

Illuminating the Single Mother’s Guilt
My Facebook Inamorato is more than just a charming love story; it is a novel with a powerful mission to expose a cultural "blind spot" that too often burdens women.

Prisca Kagirwa bravely shines a light on the unconscious guilt for single mothers that can completely hinder their love life. Through her characters, she seeks to rewrite this limiting script and offer a message of empowerment:
"The book explains and shows the possibility of finding love and give it a chance while keep being there for your kids. Also the importance of having a supporting system as a single mother even though they are strong and have been doing perfectly the duty of being a parent."
This message alone makes her book a vital conversation starter for book clubs and personal reflections alike.

LOVE AND GIVE IT A CHANCE
The voyage of a novelist is never without its storms. Prisca revealed that her most complex challenge lay not in creative blockage, but in the need for truth and reality when tackling a difficult subject:
"I face some challenges on the legal part when my main character had to fight for the custody of her kids with her ex. I had to first research and read about children custody law in Houston... I did not want to be out of reality. The whole process delayed even my writing goals for few weeks." Her dedication to accuracy, even at the cost of delay, speaks volumes about her commitment to giving her readers a story that is not only moving but grounded in authenticity.

... I DID NOT WANT TO BE OUT OF REALITY.

As we conclude our conversation with Prisca, she leaves us with a priceless piece of unconventional wisdom for every dreamer setting sail on their own voyage. It's the kind of advice you won't find in a standard manual, but that lives deep in the heart of every creative soul:
"I would told myself to be a little more confident and believe on my creativity a little bit more. Because even if I knew from my heart that the story was good I still felt scared on how it will be received and terrified to finally share my imagination with the world."

So, to your next flight, or your next girls' book club gathering, grab My Facebook Inamorato. Let's laugh, learn, and love out loud, with our heads held high. Thank you, Prisca, for your time and for sharing your beautiful voyage with Her Voyage magazine. Your journey is, truly, our journey.

Welcome the heart of Her Voyage

Forget what you think you know about rice. This isn't just a side dish; it is the most consumed staple food on the planet, with over 40,000 varieties. As your culinary historian, I specialize in the truth: the secret to transforming a dish from good to magnificent lies entirely in choosing the perfect grain for the perfect preparation. Let's break down the world's most luxurious and versatile rice grains and exactly how they should be utilized in your kitchen, making you a master of global gastronomy.

These grains are four to five times longer than they are wide. Their structure ensures they cook up fluffy and separate, perfect for dishes where you want defined texture.

These grains are four to five times longer than they are wide. Their structure ensures they cook up fluffy and separate, perfect for dishes where you want defined texture.

Basmati (Aromatic Indian/Pakistani)
Best For: Biryani, Pilafs, Persian Chelo. Why It Works (The Science): Basmati is non-starchy (low amylopectin), meaning the grains do not clump. During cooking, it elongates significantly, resulting in the desired fluffy, distinct strands essential for absorbing complex spices without becoming mushy.

Jasmine (Aromatic Thai)
Best For: Plain Steamed Rice, Coconut Rice, Thai Curries. Why It Works (The Science): It is slightly stickier than Basmati (due to slightly more starch) but still cooks up soft. It releases a beautiful, pandan-like aroma and is the perfect everyday, slightly tacky base for sauces and stir-fries.

Best For: Healthy Bowls, Grain Salads, Simple Fried Rice, Steaming.
Why It Works (The Science): The bran layer is left intact, giving it a dense, nutty flavor and crucial fiber. Its robust texture holds up perfectly in salads or simple stir-fries.

Medium grains are shorter and plumper than long grains. They become soft and tender when cooked, retaining moisture and sticking slightly, but not dissolving into mush.

Arborio (Italian)
Best For: Risotto, Rice Pudding. Why It Works (The Science): Arborio is a high-starch grain. When agitated (stirred, as in risotto), the outer layer of amylopectin starch dissolves, creating that hallmark creamy, velvety liquid, while the inner core stays satisfyingly firm (al dente).

Calasparra (Spanish) Best For: Paella. Why It Works (The Science): This Spanish rice is prized because it absorbs a massive amount of liquid (and flavor!) without splitting its kernels or turning sticky. It is essential for achieving the perfect texture in Paella without becoming soup.

Short grains are nearly round and possess the highest starch content, making them the stickiest of all. They clump and absorb liquids beautifully, ideal for dishes that require cohesion.

Sushi Rice (Japanese Japonica)
Best For: Sushi, Onigiri, Sticky Rice Dumplings. Why It Works (The Science): This is a high-amylopectin grain. When cooked and seasoned, the grains bind together firmly, making them easily moldable for rolls and balls, yet still tender to the bite

SSweet Rice/Glutinous Rice (Southeast Asian)
Best For: Mochi, Mango Sticky Rice, Congee. Why It Works (The Science): Do not be fooled by the name; it contains no gluten. It contains virtually onlysticky amylopectin starch. It becomes translucent and extremely sticky when cooked, making it the perfect base for desserts or thickening agents.
For Frying (Fried Rice): Always use day-old, refrigerated long-grain rice (like Basmati or Jasmine). The chilling process removes surface moisture, ensuring the rice fries into individual grains and not a greasy clump.
For Bread (Rice Flour): Use Sweet/Glutinous Rice flour or short-grain rice flour. The high starch content provides elasticity, making it ideal for pastries, thickening sauces, and certain gluten-free breads that require a chewy texture (like mochi bread).
The Rinse Rule: Always rinse most long and medium-grain rice (like Basmati and Jasmine) until the water runs clear. This removes excess surface starch, preventing unwanted stickiness and ensuring the fluffy separation you desire.

Kombucha the fizzy, fermented tea that tastes like a sweet-tart cocktail and promises a healthy gut is not a fad; it’s an ancient elixir making a very modern comeback. But what exactly is in that beautiful, bubbling bottle, and what’s real versus just marketing buzz? We're diving deep into the science and the style of this fermented favorite

Kombucha’s history is as complex as its flavor. Its origins are believed to be in China (specifically Northeast China, around 220 B.C.), where it was reportedly prized by the Tsin Dynasty and earned the regal moniker "Elixir of Immortality." The drink eventually spread across trade routes, becoming prominent in Russia and Eastern Europe. Though its journey is murky, one popular theory suggests its name derives from Dr. Kombu, a Korean physician who allegedly brought the tea to Japan in 415 A.D. to treat the ailing Emperor Ingyo. The key takeaway is clear: this isn't a modern health invention it's a time-tested tradition.

Kombucha is essentially fermented sweet tea. The magic ingredient is not the liquid itself, but the organism used to create it: the SCOBY. The term SCOBY stands for Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast. It looks like a beige, rubbery pancake and is the powerhouse that drives the fermentation. The process is a twostep dance: the yeast in the SCOBY consumes the sugar and produces alcohol, and then the bacteria consumes that alcohol and converts it into organic acids, specifically acetic acid (which gives it that signature vinegary tang). This fermentation process also produces carbon dioxide, making it naturally fizzy.
Kombucha is a source of probiotics (beneficial bacteria), B vitamins (like B1, B6, B12), and beneficial organic acids(glucuronic, lactic, and acetic acids). However, it is not a medical cure-all and does not guarantee consistent probiotic strains across every home-brewed batch. It does contain a small amount of alcohol (legally non-alcoholic, under 0.5% ABV, but be aware of home-brews).

The central hype around kombucha is its benefit for the gut microbiome. Here’s the reality:
Probiotic Power: This is TRUE (Conditionally). It contains live cultures that can aid digestion and diversify gut flora. However, since the strains vary, the benefits are less predictable than a pharmaceutical probiotic supplement.
Antioxidants: This is TRUE. Since kombucha is made from black or green tea, it retains the valuable polyphenols and antioxidants of the base tea, which help fight free radicals in the body.
Detoxification: This is largely FALSE. While it contains glucuronic acid, which assists toxin neutralization, your liver already performs this function efficiently. Kombucha is a supplement, not a magic detox agent. Energy Boost: This is LIKELY. The combination of B vitamins (key for energy metabolism) and the small amount of caffeine from the base tea can provide a gentle lift.

Why settle for generic flavor?
This signature recipe maximizes both taste and benefit for a beautiful, refreshing start to 2026. Your signature blend is the "Boabao Zest" Blend (perfect for secondary fermentation). You'll need finished, unflavored kombucha, and then you add the crucial ingredients for flavor: Baobab Fruit Powder (for tart citrus flavor and vitamins), freshly grated or minced Ginger (for a cleansing kick), and a small amount of Honey or Brown Sugar(to feed the yeast and boost fizz place in a warm side of your house for 3-5 days). The key step: the squeeze of fresh Lime Juice should only be added just before serving over ice, not during the secondary fermentation, to keep the flavor bright and crisp.
Whether you go for the benefit or for the happy fizz, Kombucha 2026 is officially on!

forget what you think you know about resolutions. 2026 isn't just a new year; it is a cosmic signal. In the simple math of the universe, 2026 reduces to the number 1, symbolizing new starts, leadership, and rebirth. This is not a year for waiting. The universe demands that you claim your vision and take the lead in your own life.

The biggest event shaping 2026 is the rare shift of two major planets Saturn (discipline) and Neptune (dreams) into Aries, the sign of the beginner. Astrologers call this the "Big Bang" of the collective mood. This shift acts as a divine call-to-action:
Letting Go: Neptune gently dissolves the old stories and roles you’ve outgrown. The universe is forcing you to be brave enough to be your true self.
Building It: Saturn demands courage and commitment. It requires you to commit to your biggest goals. If you have a true vision, Saturn will give you the structure and discipline to build it, step by step.

This powerful energy is designed to fuel you the woman who leads with intentional elegance. Here is your roadmap for living the new year:
1.
The energy of Jupiter, the planet of luck, is focused on building your foundation and home life early in the year.
The Action: Focus on home stability and building your inner strength. Use the Universal Khaki color trend the energetic color of stability and grounded luxury to anchor your physical space and your emotions.
The Mantra: "My home is my sanctuary, and my intuition is my truest guide."
Since the entire year is ruled by the energy of Aries (new beginnings), the focus is on original, bold action.
The Action: Start a passion project, launch the idea you’ve been sitting on, or take a leadership step you’ve avoided. This is the year to finally embody that new, clear self we achieved through The Guru's Gospel. You have cosmic permission to make the first move.
The Mantra: "I am the leader of my own destiny, and I choose bold, authentic action."

2026 is about taking your biggest, most soulful dreams and making them completely real and tangible.
The Action: Blend your dreams with practical plans. Choose the Transformative Teal color, which represents resilience and deep renewal. Use this color in your life to remind you that your emotional depth is the foundation for your material success.
The Mantra: "My vision is sacred, and my commitment is unwavering."
Darling, 2026 is the year you stop seeking permission and start taking the lead. Your journey your Her Voyage is about to begin again, stronger and more beautifully authentic than ever before
