AW22 Crafted by Nature Crafted by Nature is a collection designed for the new normal, where we value our connection to nature more than ever. Our AW22 range embraces this new way of living, where we’ve learned to cherish a life more local. Grounding our senses and emotions in the soil beneath our feet, the rough bark and cool leaves we skim with our fingertips, we let go of days spent in the virtual world and seek restoration the outdoors, from small parks to open countryside. The AW22 collection embraces this, with easy to wear styles that are good for people and planet, enveloping us with texture and colour as we journey through to spring.

Autumn Our autumn pieces provide comfort and cosiness for the change in season. Hand woven fabrics, intricate ikats, embroidered applique and luxurious quilting throughout the collection celebrate the artisanal skills of our Fair Trade producer partners. New for AW22, we introduce floral printed jersey in a burgundy berry shade. Signature People Tree shapes have been reimagined in new organic fabrics and colours.

Hand-weaving Swallows was set up in 1971, after the war of independence, to provide opportunities for women to support themselves and their families following the devastating massacre of all the adult males in the village. Swallows’ mission is to empower the poor and underprivileged population by eradicating illiteracy, creating health awareness and selfemployment, raising awareness among the landless for the rights of land and empowering women by creating economic and social independence. As a women’s project, even hand weaving, which is normally considered men’s work, is done by women. The natural and azo-free dyed yarns are hand woven into fabrics, then hand embellished with embroidery and tailored.

Wool People Tree partners with KTS in Nepal to create hand-knitted garments and accessories made with sheep’s wool. People Tree is committed to sustainability in every aspect of our business. Wool is a natural material that has been used for thousands of years. It provides warmth, breathability and all-weather protection. Also, wool is beautiful and durable. Unlike synthetic materials that are extremely slow to degrade, wool is a natural material that will biodegrade when disposed of. It can also be readily recycled. Wool is a sustainable, renewable resource. Every year new wool grows on a sheep’s back and can be removed without any harm to the animal.

V&A Collaboration Glendale Print Based on a furnishing fabric held in the V&A’s collection, the Glendale print was originally created in the 1920s by artist-designer, Sidney Mawson (1876–1941). The finely drawn pattern reflects the Arts and Crafts Movement’s interest in native British wildflowers and woodlands and has been updated in a pleasing colour scheme. These garments were was made by Creative Handicrafts, an organisation which supports women in India by providing employment and fair wages. The fabric is made from TENCEL™ branded Lyocell fibres. The fibre production itself is extremely eco-friendly due to the closed loop manufacturing system used. TENCEL™ is a trademark of Lenzing AG.

V&A Collaboration Mallow Print This beautiful pattern is based on a floral wallpaper from the V&A’s collection, originally designed by Kate Faulkner (1842–98), a member of Morris & Company’s design studio, in 1879. Mallow conveys sophistication and originality thanks to the combination of timeless Arts and Crafts appeal and a versatile monochrome palette. These garments were made by Creative Handicrafts, an organisation which supports women in India by providing employment and fair wages. The fabric is made from organic cotton using methods that have a low impact on the environment. Organic cotton helps to combat climate change and uses less water.

Organic Denim Our collaboration with SARP JEANS on our GOTS certified organic cotton denim collection continues to go from strength to strength. Building on the success of our undyed and black denim ranges, this season we have introduced a dark wash that reduces the amount of processing required: it looks great while being even better for the environment than our original blue denim. Our AW22 Denim range also introduces removable buttons, making it easier than ever to recycle or upcycle garments at the end of their life - all you need is a screwdriver to safely remove the buttons. And of course, all our denim is made from GOTS Certified Organic Cotton, with recycled polyester sewing thread, to ensure the range is as eco-friendly as possible. SARP have been audited by FWF (Fair Wear Foundation) and have guaranteed us their laundry partners are GOTS certified. Employees are trained about the environment, and efforts are made to protect both water and energy. In addition to this, SARP run a tree planting project in the arid regions of Turkey, and so far have planted more than 1000 trees.
