Penyagolosa Trails Xodos

Si has hecho la MiM o la CSP sabrás que la llegada a Xodos siempre impresiona. Porque a este pueblo se suele llegar ya con las fuerzas justas (km. 50 de la MiM y 90 de la CSP) y ese conjunto de casas casi colgando en la ladera de una muela junto al río sorprenden a cualquiera. Es un paso fundamental en ambas carreras y reponer fuerzas y sentir a la afición animando os ayudarán a afrontar con garantías los últimos kilómetros de carrera.

La localidad se encuentra a 1070 metros sobre el nivel del mar y tiene unas calles estrechas y empinadas al ubicarse en la ladera de la muela y está coronada por un castillo. Esta fortificación está declarada como Bien de Interés Cultural y aún conserva parte de su muralla. Está construida en estilo medieval militar y se puede visitar, aunque el paso del tiempo ha dejado en pie tan sólo la torre del homenaje y parte de la muralla.

Si acompañáis a vuestros amigos y familiares mientras hacen la carrera y llegáis con tiempo, os recomendamos callejear por la localidad y disfrutar de sus pintorescos rincones, sus vistas y su patrimonio. Así estarás disfrutando del encanto de esta localidad de ambiente rural que se sitúa cerca del pico del Penyagolosa, de hecho, a partir de aquí los corredores se adentrarán en el parque natural.

Su Iglesia Parroquial es de estilo gótico y además, tiene otros puntos de interés en las afueras, como la ermita San Juan Bautista, del siglo XIV y zona de peregrinación, la de San Cristóbal, erigida en una colina, o el Calvario, desde donde las vistas son espectaculares.

If you have run the MiM or the CSP you will know that the arrival at Xodos is always breathtaking. Runners get there out of strength (it is the 50th km of the MiM and 90th km of the CSP) and that bunch of houses almost hanging on the slope of a crag next to the river can amaze anyone. It is a vital step in both races and regaining strength and feeling the supporters cheering will surely help you face the last kilometers of the race.

Crowned by a castle, the town is located at 1070 meters above sea level and has narrow and steep streets given that it is located on the slope of a hill. This fortress has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest and still retains part of its wall. It is built in a medieval military style and can be visited, although the passage of time has only left the keep and part of the wall.

If you come with your friends and family because they are running and you arrive with time to spare, we do recommend strolling through the village and enjoying its picturesque corners, its views and its heritage. By doing so, you will be enjoying the charm and rural atmosphere of this village located near the peak of Penyagolosa. In fact, it is the entrance to the natural park.

Its Parish Church was built with a Gothic style and it also has other interesting sites on the outskirts, such as the hermitage of San Juan Bautista, from the 14th century, a pilgrimage area known as San Cristóbal erected on a hill and El Calvario, where the views are spectacular.
