LISTEN TO GOD’S WORD Pastoral Prayer & The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors, And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Lighting of the Candles Placement of the Bible Prayer of Confession God of wonder, we confess to you today that we like surprises when they do not disrupt our lives, but when your call interrupts the plans we make for ourselves, we can grow anxious. We like to play life safe and can become fearful when we do not know what the future holds. Give us grace to trust you with every dimension of our lives. Forgive our fear and the other sins in our lives which we now confess in silence… Assurance of God’s Forgiveness Affirmation of Faith The Apostles’ Creed  (see page 3) Congregational Response† Now Thank We All Our God  #9

Offering Our Gifts My Soul Doth Magnify the Lord  Hank Beebe

Postlude

My soul doth magnify the Lord, My spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior, For he hath regarded the lowliness of me his servant. Behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. For he that is mighty hath done great things, and holy is his name. His mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation. He showed strength with his arm, he hath scattered the proud, He hath put down the mighty and exalted the low. He hath filled the hungry with good things, the rich he sent empty away. He hath helped his servant Israel as he spake to our fathers Abraham and his seed forever.

Life of the Congregation My soul doth magnify the Lord… —Luke 1:46–55 Doxology† Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow  #544
