Project one: Re-Design: Email Marketing

Ruxley Manor send out regular newsletters to a database of 30,000 subscribers, informing them of new seasonal products, events and special offers, when coming into my role as the businesses eCommerce Content Executive I was challenged with changing and updating the email marketing templates to reflect the business in a sleeker, modern style.

The design needed to take into account the volume of products that are promoted and the nature of various different offers both online and in-store, allowing for a changeable, impactful call-to-action at the head of the email.

Project two: Create: GCA Rising Star

The GCA Rising Star is an annual competition where members of the Garden Centre Association put forward their best candidate. Ruxley Manor chose Philipa Garth as their 2022-2023 candidate, and her project required assistance from the marketing department.

The Bug Buffet became her campaign, addressing the declining populations of insects critical to human existence. Philipa wanted to create a project that was visually attractive, especially to children, to encourage them to care for insects rather than frightened.

Following her brief, I created branding for The Bug Buffet to encourage children to take a look at the the flower beds and bug hotels on site at Ruxley Manor and to reflect her campaigns aims and goals.

GCA RISING STARS

Project three: Print: The Platinum Jubilee

The Platinum Jubilee was especially important to the business, having been one of many garden centres who in the past have had a royal visit from the now Duke of Edinburgh (Prince Edward).

The Jubilee at the business was a weekend full of traditional party games, competitions and charity fundraising. This project involved creating assets for social, competitions and print, therefore containing a wide range of various designs.

With a trail inspired by the Queens Green Canopy, it taught children about species of protected trees and various facts about the Queen to keep them involved in the celebrations.

VISIT

Nature Trail: A concertina fold booklet for print, designed to keep kids entertained through their adventure around the centre, discovering brass rubbings inspired by british nature to add to their booklet.

With hidden clues at each stop and by filling out their booklet completely, they could enter a raffle to win the prize of a family afternoon tea.

Project four: Re-Design: Website

The website required re-designing to make the customer experience and process simple and easy to use.

By ensuring the department pages displayed only relevant and informative information regarding in-store and online offerings, I was able to simplify the process and add additional content linked to the business Blog.

As well as re-designing the layout and including essential information regarding each department and their stock, they required a much needed update in terms of their images.

Final Result

Following multiple mock-ups, the template for department pages were set and follow the example shown to the left.

They included links to relevant blog posts to each department and specialities in each area.

Project five: Branding: External Work

NGS Heating and Plumbing is a local business offering specialist Heating and Plumbing Engineer services. Having had a temporary logo created as their business began trading, they approached me with a brief to create a logo that reflected them professionally and permanently.

Their business wanted a design that reflected their trade - plumbing and therefore had the initial idea to include or interpret the ‘typical flame and water drop’. I created a unique logo to advertise their domestic services, and from sketch to stitch (yes, stitch!) they had a finalised logo that they felt represented them in a unique but recognisable way.

This design was put into action and set up for print on new business cards and embroidery for new work uniform.

This was achieved by manipulating the typography and adapting it to reflect the domestic plumbing business NGS

Project six: Create: Virtual Reality

Having purchased a Virtual Reality ride, the business was looking for a fun and attractive way to entice families to the business with small children who would enjoy a full immersive experience during the holidays.

The Jungle Boat ride explored the depths of the amazon and aztec ruins, so the branding for this ride had to capture the riders before they thought about embarking on their journey through the jungle. The brief required the branding to be fun, yet simple, and could easily be read as a jungle adventure!
