PLC Scholarships
Peace Lutheran College offers limited Scholarships from Year 7 onwards to existing and prospective students. Scholarships are offered to students with a demonstrated high degree of excellence in his or her chosen area, combined with a strong academic performance and dedicated personal commitment.

Scholarships are available in the following areas:
Academic Excellence Scholarships
General Excellence Scholarships (Leadership, Community Service, Excellence exhibited across several areas)
Cultural Excellence Scholarships (Dance, Drama, Music, Visual Art)
Sport Excellence Scholarships
We recommend you review the criteria that best suit your individual strengths as you may only apply for one stream.
A scholarship will normally be held from Years 7 to 9 or from Years 10 to 12. Students entering at other year levels within these brackets e.g. applying for Year 8, would be eligible only for a two-year scholarship to the end of their Year 9 studies. Year 10 is the last entry point for scholarships.
The College also reserves the right to terminate the scholarship at any time in the event of gross or continued breaches of expectations, unwarranted decline in academic achievement or application, or persistent failure to support the College in its co-curricular program.
All scholarships are a remission of the tuition fee component of a student’s school fees. The remission amount is determined by the Principal.

Application Process Guidelines

Please read the following important information before applying for a Peace Lutheran College Scholarship:
STEP 1 - Application Examination Registration
The examinations for all scholarships for the 2025 school year will be held at the College on Friday, 5 July 2024.
The closing date for registration is Friday, 28 June 2024.
The cost of the scholarship exam is $100 including GST. Online payment must be made at the end of the registration process. If the payment is not made, your registration will not be valid.
Testing is open to current and external students who will be in Years 7 to 10 in 2025.
Alternate testing dates are not available. Please ensure you are available on the prescribed date. Please note: The time of the exam will not be communicated until the week before the exam.
Late applications will not be accepted.
There are limited places available for the examination. Registration will close before the published date if places are filled.
The examination is both online and paper-based. There will be four online multiple-choice tests of 30 minutes each and a 15-minute written test. Students will be given rest breaks.
More information will be sent to registered students in the week before the examination date.
Practice exams can be purchased from EduTest when registering online.
Short-listed applicants who are invited for an interview will be notified of the date and time via email. Non-attendance at the interview will result in the application being voided.

Application Process Guidelines

STEP 2 - Application Form & Portfolio Submission
Complete the Application Form for your chosen scholarship and submit your portfolio.
We accept both hand-written and typed submission forms and ask that the student complete the application form in their own words. Portfolios, with the attached application form, can be emailed to scholarships@plc.qld.edu.au or delivered to College Administration for the attention of the ‘Head of Marketing and Enrolments’.
The closing date for Application/Portfolio submission is Friday, 21 June1 week before the examination registration deadline. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Scholarship conditions will be outlined in the letter of offer for successful students. These conditions may include the following:
Maintain a high academic level (GPA).
Remain in good standing with the College concerning:
- Effort
- Behaviour
- Attendance
- Compliance with other College expectations
- Participating fully in the co-curricular activities of the College in so far as their abilities allow.
Show support for the leadership role that is implicit for all scholarship holders. This includes being a positive role model for younger students, displaying leadership by encouraging and supporting other students, and fostering team and College spirit.
Selection Criteria
Academic Excellence Scholarships

Academic Excellence scholarship recipients will either have or have the potential to demonstrate high academic achievement.
Student selection is based on external academic examination results, written application/portfolio submission, and, if shortlisted, subsequent interview.
Scholarship Conditions
Scholarship conditions will be outlined in the letter of offer for successful students. These conditions may include the following:
Maintain a high academic level (GPA).
Remain in good standing with the College concerning:
- Effort
- Behaviour
- Attendance
- Compliance with other College expectations
- Participating fully in the co-curricular activities of the College in so far as their abilities allow.
Show support for the leadership role that is implicit for all scholarship holders. This includes being a positive role model for younger students, displaying leadership by encouraging and supporting other students, and fostering team and College spirit.

General Excellence Scholarships

General Excellence scholarships are awarded to students who exhibit excellence across several areas including leadership, community service, service to the school community, and cocurricular involvement.
Student selection is based on academic examination results, written application/portfolio submission, and, if shortlisted, subsequent interview.
Scholarship Conditions
Scholarship conditions will be outlined in the letter of offer for successful students. These conditions may include the following:
Maintain a high academic level (GPA).
Remaining in good standing with the College concerning:
- Effort
- Behaviour
- Attendance
- Compliance with other College expectations
- Participating fully in the co-curricular activities of the College in so far as their abilities allow.
Show support for the leadership role that is implicit for all scholarship holders. This includes being a positive role model for younger students, displaying leadership by encouraging and supporting other students, and fostering team and College spirit.
Selection Criteria
Sports Excellence Scholarships

Sports Excellence scholarship recipients must be performing at a high level and participate regularly in school or club representative sports. Applicants should be capable of achieving at a regional or state level.
Information about specific achievements in competition/representation should be submitted via the application form and portfolio. This information must include details of representation in school and/or club sports programs and be evidenced in the portfolio.
Student selection is based on examination results (to establish commitment and effort towards the process) application form/portfolio submission and, if shortlisted, subsequent interview.
Scholarships are available for sports that are a part of the Peace Lutheran College sporting program. The following is a list of sports in which applications are being accepted:
- Swimming
- Athletics
- Cross Country - Basketball
- Netball - Volleyball - Soccer - AFL / Touch Football

Scholarship Conditions

Scholarship conditions will be outlined in the letter of offer for successful students. These conditions may include the following:
Maintain a high effort level (EPA).
Remaining in good standing with the College concerning:
- Effort
- Behaviour
- Attendance
- Compliance with other College expectations
- Must participate in nominated school-based sporting activities, such as training sessions, competitions, and other activities and events as notified.
- Agree, within parameters determined by the Principal/ and/or Head of Sport, to participate in College activities before outside engagements.
Show support for the leadership role that is implicit for all scholarship holders. This includes being a positive role model for younger students, displaying leadership by encouraging and supporting other students, and fostering team and College spirit.
Selection Criteria
Cultural Excellence Scholarship

Cultural Excellence scholarships are awarded to students who have achieved a high level in Music, Dance, Drama, or Visual Art.
Student selection is based on examination results (to establish commitment and effort towards the process) application form/portfolio submission and, if shortlisted, a potential audition (Music, Dance or Drama) or a portfolio submission (Visual Arts).
Current students at Peace Lutheran College need to have achieved at least a Cultural Award the previous year to be eligible for application. The criteria for a Cultural Award are to:
Successfully achieved Grade 5 or above in Music, Dance, and Drama exams, together with involvement in cultural groups/activities throughout the year.
OR
Be the recipient of a Major Award at a Regional level (Drama Festival, Eisteddfod Championships, Capture Photography Competition/Energies Exhibition, etc.)
For students not currently attending Peace Lutheran College, they must be of a similar standard to the above criteria and be evidenced in their portfolio submission.

Scholarship Conditions

Scholarship conditions will be outlined in the letter of offer for successful students. These conditions may include the following:
Maintain a high academic level (GPA).
Remaining in good standing with the College concerning:
- Effort
- Behaviour
- Attendance
- Compliance with other College expectations.
Elect to study subjects that are in line with the scholarship offer.
Participate fully in the co-curricular activities of the College in so far as their abilities allow, contributing to the College Arts program.
Maintaining a Cultural Award annually.
Show support for the leadership role that is implicit for all scholarship holders. This includes being a positive role model for younger students, displaying leadership by encouraging and supporting other students, and fostering team and College spirit.
