New Mansion Square

August 2025

Resident space now open!

Since 11 August, all residents at New Mansion Square have access to a new resident amenity space, complete with cinema screening room.

This area gives residents the opportunity to work, or catch up with neighbours over a coffee, and offers a number of desk-style areas as well as some more relaxed seating

Our bookable screening room offers residents a place to relax with family or friends in a cinema setting, and watch shows and films through their own streaming accounts.

There are some gentle rules in place to make sure that the room is accessible to everyone, and that everyone is safe and secure there, and residents will be asked to agree to these when they book to use it.

If you have any questions about the use of the co-working area, or would like to book time in the screening room, please speak to any of the staff in our concierge office under Foots Row Mansions.

Did you know that Wandsworth is currently the Mayor of London’s chosen Borough of Culture for 2025?

Running until April 2026, a huge cultural programme is being created with local people and organisations, with many events free for everyone. From a mass dance event to a choral spectacular, people will be coming together to share experiences and celebrate the local area.

It’s going to be an exciting time for Wandsworth, and the whole borough will be involved.

Events close to New Mansion Square include:

23-25 August - Battersea Park in Concert, featuring Jools Holland and the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.

4-5 and 11-12 October - Wandsworth Artists Open House provides an opportunity to see inside the home studios of Wandsworth-based artists, showcasing the talent of painters, photographers, jewellery designers, and more!

26 November - Palace of Varieties at Clapham Grand theatre. From Charlie Chaplin to Charli XCX, the Grand’s 125 anniversary is a bold and brilliant celebration of the venue’s history.

Change begins when we listen and work together, and the newly-formed South Forum is one way Peabody residents can help shape their communities.

This resident-led group brings together people from across South London to share ideas, raise concerns, and hear from Peabody teams. Supported by the Resident Engagement and Neighbourhoods teams, the Forum gives all residents the opportunity to discuss the issues that are important to them with representatives from Peabody, and have an open conversation with them and other residents about the neighbourhoods you live in.

The group is chaired by Sue, who, despite being a long-term resident in a South London Peabody home, was, until recently, Chair of the Forum’s sister group in North East London. Until this summer, Sue was a steady and passionate voice in the group and her masterful leadership helped shape the North East Forum. She’s now stepped aside from that duty to help Peabody’s Local Engagement team in the South region set up the new group.

With a newly-formed group, and a new Chair in place, now’s the perfect time to get involved. If you’re a Peabody resident in South London, you’re welcome - no TRA (Tenant & Resident Association) membership or experience is needed. Just bring your voice, your ideas, and your passion for your community. Come along, ask questions, and help shape the future.

Dealing with ASB

Anti-Social Behaviour, or ASB, occurs when someone is causing harm or distress to people outside their home in the neighbourhood.

Everyone should feel safe and secure in and outside of their home. We take issues of ASB very seriously and know the impact it can have on you and your family.

It can include, but isn’t limited to things like:

Intimidation, physical, or verbal abuse

Dangerous or uncontrolled animals

Shouting, swearing and fighting

Noise, including playing loud music, having loud parties, or making noise very late at night or early in the morning

Graffiti and vandalism

We typically don’t investigate one-off incidents (unless there’s a crime or abuse reported to the police or another agency) or routine daily sounds and activities such as:

Everyday living noises (footsteps, doors closing, lights turning on/off)

Household activities (cooking smells, appliance use)

Babies crying, people talking

Low-level sounds from TVs or radios.

If you have a problem with your neighbour, or your neighbour has a problem with you, it is important to try to resolve it as early as possible.

You may be able to resolve disputes and everyday nuisance problems by talking to your neighbour. Your neighbour may not be aware that they are causing a problem.

If you have spoken to your neighbour and matters do not improve then please contact us here.

New parking regulations

We know that parking in and around the development can be tricky, so we’re asking residents to be mindful of some new parking limitations that have been bought in around the area by Wandsworth Council.

Sleaford Street:

Yellow lines have been painted and ticket enforcement is now in place along the street.

Blue Badge holders:

Blue badge holders should be aware that there is a 3 hour limit, including on Sleaford Street. The Council’s enforcement agents can issue tickets if vehicles are left overnight.

Water sources:

It’s important that all drivers take care not to park in any way what will stop fire services accessing emergency water hydrants. Always check when you park that your vehicle is not covering floor level water access points.

Get free doggy treats!

This National Dog Day, 25 August, Control Room B in the Power Station’s Turbine Hall B will be giving away 200 free dog collars, handmade dog birthday cakes, and canine liquid health supplements.

From 10am, the celebration of our canine friends will last all day – until stocks last.

Simply request to be seated, receive a Control Room B collar, which will act as a VIPooch card, and your pup will receive complimentary treats!

Emergency repairs

If you rent your home from us, we have a duty to repair issues within a reasonable amount of time.

We classify repairs as either emergency or routine. With emergency issues, such as a major leak or electrical failure, we aim to make them safe within four hours of the report. Of course, if the problem can be fixed completely in that time, we will do so, but often we do need to arrange for parts to be delivered, and this takes more time.

With routine issues such as minor leaks and blockages, or replacing a broken tap, we aim to repair them within 30 days.

Whatever the issue, safety is the most important thing, and we will visit, assess, and make safe any emergency repair as quickly as possible.

You can report all repairs by calling 0300 123 3456 or through the My Peabody portal.

Fire safety

We know that there have recently been issues with fire alarms being set off without reason in some of the blocks

While it’s annoying when this happens, it’s important that you don’t ignore any alarm you hear.

Please, if you hear an alarm sounding, call 999 and ask for the fire service. Both we and the emergency service would prefer a false alarm rather than lives being put at risk.

The advice for residents at New Mansion Square is to stay put in your home. There is no need for you to evacuate unless directed to by the emergency services or Peabody staff.

It’s always better to be safe than sorry.

Staying e-bike and scooter safe

As e-bikes and e-scooters are increasing in popularity, the number of incidents, including fatal fires, is also rising. That’s because the lithium batteries can overheat and catch fire, spreading very quickly.

If you or anyone in your household has an ebike or e-scooter, please follow these do’s and don’ts:

· Charge your scooter/e-bike inside your home where you are able to keep an eye on it - most accidents happen while they are charging.

· Only use the charger that came with your device and make sure it meets safety standards.

· Check for damage if the battery is swollen, cracked, or overheating, stop using it immediately.

· Avoid leaving your e-bike or e-scooter charging overnight or when you’re out. As soon as it’s charged, unplug the charger.

· Make sure there’s a smoke alarm in the area where you charge your e-bike or e-scooter and test it regularly.

You can find more information about e-bikes, e-scooters and other fire safety information and advice on our website www.peabody.org.uk/fire-safety
