Neighbourhood Manager update

As you may already know your Neighbourhood Manager, Vicky CareyDuff, recently left Peabody to start a new role. We hope you’ll join the team in wishing her all the best for the future.

We are pleased to share that the role of Chingford’s Neighbourhood Manager has already been filled. Your new Neighbourhood Manager will be joining the team from Monday 15 December. Please keep an eye out for her introduction letter.

In the meantime the usual drop in surgeries will continue to be covered by members of the Neighbourhoods team. These are every Thursday, 10am to 2pm at the Ching Way Office ( 5 Ching Way, Chingford, E4 8YD). Drop in to discuss any issues, concerns or support you are looking for with us.

If you need to raise a repair or get help with an issue, you can also get in touch with the Contact Centre by calling 0300 1233 456 or filling out an online form at peabody.org.uk/contact-us.

Your myPeabody account can also be used to raise and track enquiries. If you don’t have one yet and think it might be helpful, you can sign up at peabody.org.uk/your-home/my-peabody

Meet the team

Eleanor Ward, Community Investment Lead for Waltham Forest

We’re pleased to share that Ellie Ward has joined the Waltham Forest team as your new Community Investment Lead.

Ellie has previously worked as the Community Investment Lead for Peabody in Waltham Forest, as well as over in Hackney, so brings a lot of experience as well as new ideas to the area.

As Community Investment Lead for Waltham Forest, Ellie will be supporting residents and local groups with their ideas to bring people together and help make things happen locally.

This might mean working with partners to deliver activities you’ve said you’d like to see and making sure that the services available to you are good quality.

Ellie will be working alongside Doug (Youth and Community Coordinator) and a fantastic group of volunteers. Do say hi and have a chat if you see her around in Ching Way!

What’s on Salisbury Manor Primary School Community Hub

4 Burnside Ave, E4 8YJ

In your September newsletter we shared that we were hoping that works to improve the new community hub at Salisbury Manor Primary School would be underway in the October half term.

There’s been some delays with finalising the plans, so work hasn’t started yet. The new aim is to start works in February. We will keep residents and hirer’s up to date with information once we have more news to share.

There are still a wide range of activities taking place at the community hub to get involved with.

Food Pantry Returns

The Ching Way Food Pantry has returned following an extended break, while the team settled into the new space at Salisbury Manor Community Hub.

You can now visit Salisbury Manor Primary School Community Hub to collect a food parcel every week which includes fruit, vegetables, meat, some ready cooked meals and more.

The food pantry costs £4.50 for a parcel and aims to help your weekly food bill go further.

If you’d like to sign up or find out more, please pick up a membership form at the Salisbury Manor Primary School Community Hub.

Councillor surgery

Friday 28 November

Salisbury Manor Community Hub

Community Clean Up, 1pm - 1.45pm

Your local councillors have heard from residents the streets need to be cleaner, so they’ll be out and about picking up litter in Chingford Hall at the end of this month. Please come along and get involved with tidying up your community spaces alongside your local councillors and Peabody team members.

We’ll meet at the Community Hub at Salisbury Manor Primary School at 1pm. We’ll provide litter pickers, gloves and bags. Please wear sensible shoes, as we’ll be walking over both paved and grassy areas.

Councillor’s Surgery, 2pm - 3pm

After the litter pick the local Councillors will also be holding a surgery. Just drop by, share your experiences and get support. There’s no need to register. Free tea, coffee and cake will be provided.
