Fish Island Village - May 2025

Welcome to your May Fish Island Village Newsletter

Communal doors

We know there have been ongoing issues at FIV with multiple communal doors.

Uncollected parcels

Home deliveries are a way of life for many of us.

If you’ve had a delivery made to the concierge, please ensure you come down to collect it as soon as you’re able to.

The concierge is open Monday to Friday 6am to 11pm and 8am to 8pm on the weekends.

Parcels, including dry-cleaning, will only be held at the concierge for 14 days.

Please remember to bring a valid form of ID when you come to collect.

Any items not collected after 14 days may be disposed of by the team due to limited storage space.

Reliable and secure door access remains a key priority for us at Fish Island Village.

We are actively engaging with both Hill and the original door manufacturer. We are also continuing to work closely with Hill to identify and implement a long-term solution to the recurring door issues.

In the meantime, we remain committed to addressing short-term concerns across the affected blocks to support a safer and more comfortable living environment for residents.

Gym access

The doors to the gym will now open at 5.55am. This is following previous issues with the gym doors not opening on time.

We’ve reported this issue to the system provider, but the exact cause of this is unclear. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and take further action if necessary.

Landscaping - Evolving Plans

OuterSpace, our landscape architects, are currently working up plans that address the current landscaping issues at FIV.

Heating and hot water

Max Fordham are continuing to look into the issues heating and hot water impacting blocks in Phase 3 (Capitol, Grovelea, Lanthorn, Murdoch and Suntrap Court).

They have started to review the original design of the central plant room that supplies FIV. We’re expecting feedback in June.

Works to provide hoarding around the temporary plant room in Wansbeck Yard has started and will be completed later this month.

Thank you for your continued patience as we work to resolve the ongoing issues with heating and hot water.

Two workshops about the landscaping plans have already taken place. OuterSpace will be holding a third workshop at the Trampery in June.

We’ll be in touch once a date and time have been agreed for this.

MVHR update - Making your home more comfortable

Getting your unit checked

Additional Surveys

There’s limited time left to let us know if your Mechanical Ventilation and Heat Recovery (MVHR) unit needs an additional survey.

If your unit has already been surveyed, but you believe there’s been a change in how the unit is working since the survey took place, your unit may need a follow up inspection.

Please get in touch with us by Friday 23 May, so that an additional survey can be booked in.

First Surveys

Ecolution are carrying out MVHR surveys where these haven’t been done yet. We expect that these surveys will be finished by the end of May. There are some residents who we don’t have up to date contact details for and Ecolution are currently getting in touch by letter to get these details where possible.

Keeping your MVHR unit in a good condition is also important to keeping it working right. You can do this by cleaning the filters regularly and making sure it is serviced according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Working to a high standard

Replacement programme

53 Mechanical Ventilation and Heating Recovery (MVHR) units have been replaced since the program started on Monday 14 April.

We really appreciate residents taking time out for appointments. To make sure everything continues going to plan we’d like to remind residents of the following:

Appointments are given in 3-hour slots

Your utility cupboard should be cleared out before the appointment, so that we can access the space. Washing machines don’t need to be moved.

Please give the team 72 hours' notice if you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment

The NHCC team are continuing to reach out to residents to book in appointments. They’ll be in touch with residents of the following blocks on a block-by-block basis:

Glow Court

Therm Court

Lampada Court

Phare Court

Wyke Road Court

Torchbearer Court

Icemaid Court

Halo Court

Whitemantle Court

Lanterna Court

Ardens Court

Winsor Court

Ignis Court

Murdoch Court

Suntrap Court

Lanthorn Court

Max Fordham, are helping us to ensure the work replacing MVHR units is carried out to a high standard. As part of this, some residents will be reached out to later this month, so that the team can do quality control checks.

These checks will only take about 15 minutes, and we’d really appreciate your assistance with them. If you have any queries regarding the MVHR replacement programme, please contact the NHCC team via email at nhcc@peabody.org.uk
