PUSH BUTTON ACTUATION VALVE All of Haws’ drinking fountain products have carried the NSF/ ANSI 61, Section 9, certification since the early 1990s. Haws NSF/ANSI 61 certifications, obtained through the internatio internatiodrinnally recognized CSA Testing Laboratory, for all of its drin king fountains, faucets and electric water cooler product lines are available online at www.haws.ch. To assure the public of Haws’ compliance with the new California law, Haws has also obtained independent third party verification of compliance with AB1953, through the CSA Testing Laboratory.
Haws’ patented Model 5874 ActiValve™ drinking fountain actuation assembly is yet another reason that wise specifiers choose Haws! The Model 5874 ActiValve™ integrates features that handle three separate operation and maintenance functions in one slick little package. The internal components of commercial drinking fountains can be subjected to significant forces during normal use, including a phenomenon called “Water Hammer.” Unlike most water faucets, where supply line pressure increases gradually as the faucet is actuated, drinking fountains experience maximum line pressures the instant the actuator button is pressed. The effects of this instantaneous peak pressure – and its instant cessation – can result in premature failure of internal components and leak situations. Haws’ ActiValve™ is designed with an integral buffer mechanism in its housing that cushions the effects of sudden pressure changes. It not only eliminates “Water Hammer,” but it also eliminates the need for separate in-line buffers that can leak or crack!
Many drinking fountains use an in-line screen which can become clogged by particulate matter before it reaches the valve or bubbler head. The patented Haws ActiValve™ features a sediment screen built right into the valve housing, behind the actuation cartridge and button. Removal of the actuator cartridge and screen from the front of the installed fountain for cleanout or cartridge replacement takes only minutes and uses minimal tools as no access panel needs to be removed! In seconds, flow control can be adjusted from the front of the fully assembled fountain. Simply insert the appropriate tool into the hole in the center of the push button and rotate it. The patented ActiValve™ actuation valve is ideal for any drinking fountain application. It is standard equipment on all non-freeze-resistant Haws drinking fountains and it can be retrofitted into existing non freeze-resistant drinking fountains.
