Obituary
Kevin Lenell Thompson of Marlborough, MA, formerly of Boston, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 26, 2024. He was the devoted husband of Beverly (Clay) Thompson, with whom he shared 30 beautiful years of marriage. Born in Brookline, MA, on December 2, 1951, Kevin was the beloved son of the late Harold R. and Claire (Stickney) Thompson. He was raised and educated in Boston, graduating from Boston English High School. A proud Dartmouth College alumnus, Kevin earned his degree in Political Science, Class of 1973. Furthering his education, he received a graduate certificate in Business Management from Harvard University.
A man of honor and dedication, Kevin enlisted in the United States Navy, serving his country with distinction as a Lieutenant. During his tour he received a Humanitarian Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, and a National Defense Service Medal. He proudly served as a CIC Watch Officer on the USS IWO JIMA (LPH-2) and on the Beachmaster Unit 2.
Kevin enjoyed a successful career in sales and received multiple awards throughout the years that twice included the Chairman’s award for outstanding performance, The Customer Vice Presidents Award 2006 and Sales Excellence four times with Dixie (Georgia Pacific). He retired from CORE Foodservice as a Distributor Account Manager.
Kevin enjoyed watching any movie related to ancient war, military, or trains. He enjoyed interviewing high school students applying to his Alma mater Darthmouth College. He opened his pool to the neighbor’s children who waited for the “opening of the gate,” that signaled Kevin was “getting it ready for summer.” Affectionately known as “Uncle Kevin,” he was available to speak with anyone and loved his weekly “Google Meet” conversations with 6-year-old nephew Jayce Kilgore.
