Open day celebrations hailed a great success! S
aint Cecilia’s held two successful days of celebrations to mark this year’s Care Home Open Day. The company opened the doors of its two care homes; Saint Cecilia’s Care Home and Normanby House, to mark Care Home Open Day. Then the following day, Saint Cecilia’s Nursing Home held a special joint open day and garden party to mark the occasion and Armed Forces Day. Managing Director Mike Padgham said: “We had an amazing two days of celebrations to mark Care Home Open Day and we are really grateful to everyone who came along and to those who worked so hard to put on the events. “It was great to celebrate care and at the same time, the next day, to mark Armed Forces Day too and salute those service men and women, past and present, who do so much to preserve our freedom.” Normanby House on Belgrave Crescent welcomed the Deputy Mayor of Scarborough, Councillor Roberta Swiers and Deputy Mayoress Dr Dianna Swiers at its celebrations. Then the civic party went on to join in the fun at the Care Home.
BBC Look North’s Harry Gration joins residents and staff at the nursing home garden party to celebrate Care Home Open Day and Armed Forces Day Both homes had entertainment, events, activities and refreshments throughout the day. They were also joined by a team from CU Scarborough, marking the links between the university and Saint Cecilia’s Care Group. The following day, the Nursing Home held a special garden party to mark the open day and Armed Forces Day. It welcomed BBC television personality Harry Gration and Tonics bar and enjoyed games,
entertainment, activities and refreshments during the day. Our ‘Tommy’ soldier memorial was in the garden to mark Armed Forces Day. Care Home Open Day is a UKwide initiative encouraging care homes to open their doors to showcase the care provided and to help create links between those homes and their local communities. Each year more than 4,000 homes take part. More pictures on pages 4, 5 and 6.
