Declare Your Goals

When we set goals for ourselves we want to be very specific. The clearer the end-goal, the easier it is to stay on track and to know when you have reached your goal. For example, a goal of buying a home may sound specific enough but setting the goal as "buying a 2 bed, 2 bath home in a short list of specific zip codes" will help to keep you focused and will allow you to ignore distractions. Take some time to list some specific goals you want to hold yourself accountable to.

It is natural for humans to think that we have more time than we do in reality. This is an easy way to fall behind and get off-track. Below you will set some measurable ways to keep track of your progress. As you set these metrics ask yourself "how much by when". List what you are committed to hold yourself accountable to each month.

Predict the Future

Chances are, the goals you ' ve set are not completely new to you. You may have attempted to reach them before and you may have made some progress or maybe you feel like you have failed big time. The past is in the past and it is out of our hands. But the past can also be a great teacher. Take some time to acknowledge what you have learned from past experiences.

Because we live in our communities with our families, friends, neighbors and colleagues, we have the ability to ask for help from people, which can be hard if we aren't used to it Learning to ask for help gives us an opportunity to get more done faster. Being in community also means that some of the people you surround yourself with will bring obstacles instead of assistance. You know best of all who are the people in your life that you will need to set boundaries with. Many of us miss reaching our goals because we don't have a clear picture of what our lives will look like if we became a different version of ourselves.
