Bod Executive Session Notice

Wednesday,

Board Of Directors

April is National Keep America Beautiful Month

April is a month filled with many observations t h a t c e l e b r a t e , b i r t h , r e s u r r e c t i o n , g r o w t h , sacrifice and peace. Celebrations of the Spring Equinox, Palm Sunday, Passover, Ramadan, Good Friday, Easter, and Resurrection Day, capture our attention as we reflect and enjoy our family and friends. April is a time for planting, fertilizing and watching nature produce the most beautiful colors and the return of wildlife to our region.

April is also National “Keep America Beautiful” month. Where better to begin this celebration than right here in our community possibly even in our own backyards. As I walk our amazing community, I am always overjoyed when I see the beautiful landscaping our neighbors have done to keep their property looking beautiful. From the Blue Palo Verde trees to the Olive Trees near the community center, the roses throughout the community and the beautiful Ocotillo, when it is in bloom, let you know it is springtime. Then there are those beautiful garden sculptures that truly attest to the varied personalities that live in our community-gnomes, butterflies, hummingbirds, tortoises, rabbits, dreamcatchers, coyotes, windmills, flamingos and more.

As a stakeholder in our community, it is important that all of us help in keeping our community beautiful. There is no harm in lending a hand to discard litter and debris that you may come across while strolling through the community (bring gloves and hand sanitizer). Pet-parents who walk their dogs should also be diligent about picking up after your pet relieves itself (always carry your doggie bags).

As I embrace this time of year, I reflect on the words of a poem originally written in the 1890s by Katherine Lee Bates.

O beautiful for spacious skies, For amber waves of grain, For purple mountain majesties

Above the fruited plain!

America! America!

God shed His grace on thee

And crown thy good with brotherhood

From sea to shining sea!

If you look around our community you will realize that this stanza of the poem describes Sun City Aliante very well. We have beautiful skies and majestic mountains. If you are up early enough or viewing the sunset looking toward the hills, you may capture the beautiful purple and red reflections from the sun rising and/or setting.

Enjoy all the festivities that this season brings and let us do our part to keep America beautiful as we continue to work together to keep Sun City Aliante a beautiful place to live, work and play.

Respectfully,

Sonja Bankston-Cullen, Secretary SCAL Board of Directors
