Compositions In Wildlife Photography

The Rule of Thirds for Balancing Images The rule of thirds in wildlife photography is the same in every other genre. This technique or principle helps to organize your image appealingly. To accomplish this technique, Patrick McCann advised that you divide your image into three-by-three grids (for beginners, you can try to include grid lines, but most professionals can have imaginary grid lines on the image). Then put the important elements in your image along the grid lines at the intersections of the lines. Imagine an image of a koala in the forest, with the body of the koala lining with the grid lines and the head at one of the intersections of the grid lines. Make the Subject’s Eyes your Primary Focus. The eyes of your subject attract your viewer’s attention more than other parts of the body. Hence you need to focus more on your subject’s eyes and try as much as possible to get it sharp enough to capture the attention of your viewer. If your subject is on the move, you can put your focus on an area close to the eyes of your subject, which can also make the eyes of your subject be in focus. Use Negative Space to Focus your Viewer’s Attention on your Subject. Having lots of noise in your background can take your viewer’s attention away from your subject. You need to employ the use of negative space or blurring out the background to keep the focus on your subject. Patrick Ryan McCann believes that if you fail to remove a noisy background from your image, your subject will compete for attention with the background. But, using negative space or eliminating noisy backgrounds brings all attention to your subject. Negative spaces like nearby plants, or natural white sky can help you compose amazing images.

Tips to Improve Your Wildlife Photography Either for a beginner or enthusiast in the wildlife photography industry, these tips by Patrick Ryan McCann can help improve your skills greatly.

Set your shooting time to Coincide with The Golden Hours. Golden Hour in photography is a term for a couple of hours before and after sunset. You get a perfect scene for wildlife photography during these golden hours as the environmental light is soft and attractive. Since your camera tries to balance the warmer tones, the image will come out more pleasant by adding elegance to your images. Choose your Spot and Lure The Animals in. Select the spot where you would love to capture the images of your animal, then lure the animals to this spot. You can lure birds by either offering sun owers, fruits, or jelly worms. You can lure koalas with the leaves of eucalyptus trees. Getting to know your subject and what you can lure them with is a very important tool in wildlife photography Eliminate Distractions. Being focused is another important tool in wildlife photography. If you have the best cameras and gadgets, you are prepared for the shots, and even with the best knowledge about your subject, you can miss great images if you are distracted. Always eliminate distractions when you are trying to capture moments in the wild. Patrick McCann points out that you can miss out on important and amazing pictures in just a split second. Make Yourself Invisible To Animals, either by using blinds or camou ages. It would be dangerous if a wild animal observes you and comes to attack you in the wild, so you need to blend in with the environment. You can use Blinds or camou ages to remain invisible
