tep inside the Messika flagship store on Paris’ rue St.Honore and you will discover a universe dedicated to diamond jewellery set to please every fancy and almost every budget: from dainty wedding bands to million Euros colliers flaunted on the red carpet by Hollywood A-listers of the likes of Beyonce, Doutzen Kros or Cara Delavigne. Abuzz during last July’s haute couture fashion week, PASHION met up with the lady behind the glitz and glam. Valerie Messika grew up watching her father Andre build a diamond trading business. While other little girls played with dolls, Valerie played with diamonds. Her passion for design and love of precious stones was all it took to grow the family’s business model from supplying other famous brands to creating a brand name for themselves. At 15 she designed her first piece of jewellery for her mother. In 2005 she launched the namesake jewellery brand. In 2014 she opened the Paris Messika flagship store. For the 10th anniversary of Messika Joaillerie, she opened her first Fine Jewelry Atelier. Her concept of “everyday diamond pieces” has become a huge success amongst women who once only fancied diamonds on occasions. Young and rocking rings, bracelets and chokers are catering to a new generation of affluent clients. The Messika highjewellery collection is a celebration of the family business, merging the fabulous stones of one of the most important diamond traders in the business and the creativity of the woman who wanted to create jewellery suited to the fast paced life of modern women.
