A New, Healing Space for Behavioral Health Patients Hackensack Meridian Carrier Clinic’s Behavioral Health services have expanded to Hackensack Meridian Raritan Bay Medical Center, which includes dedicated units and programs for adults needing care for mental health and substance use disorders. By expanding from 24 beds to 81, the team is able to meet the ever-growing need for behavioral health services in the community. Designed to create a uniquely tranquil, comfortable and safe environment, the space features warm, soothing decor. A full-time, donor-funded nurse navigator provides support and resources for patients as well. This critical role elevates the care already being provided by our teams of clinical experts at both hospitals, and we are grateful for our donors’ compassionate support.

Long Term Acute Care Close to Home The Hackensack Meridian Long Term Acute Care Hospital (LTACH), located inside Raritan Bay Medical Center, is a separately licensed, 30-bed, private room specialty hospital that cares for patients needing longer hospitalization who are unable to be transferred to a nursing home, subacute or rehabilitation facility. The LTACH’s goal is to care for these medically complicated patients to the level where they can be transferred to a more permanent facility. This “hospital in a hospital” model enables patients to remain close to home. LTACH team members derive a tremendous sense of satisfaction from their work, especially when they see a patient who has a poor prognosis exceed their original recovery expectations. We are grateful for our donors who support this specialty hospital.

Improving the Patient Experience in the Infusion Center Team members at Hackensack Meridian Old Bridge Medical Center strive to make each patient’s time in the hospital as comfortable as possible. Thanks to donors partnering with us in this work, televisions were upgraded in the infusion center, bringing comfort and diversion to patients receiving treatment. With countless movies, TV series, documentaries, news and everything in between, access to such entertainment enables each patient to relax in a more comfortable environment, relieving the boredom and emotional discomfort many people experience when undergoing treatment for serious illness.

With great enthusiasm, I intend to allocate the awarded funds towards furthering my education and pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in nursing. This opportunity will not only enhance my knowledge and skills, but also empower me to make an even greater impact in the field of health care. I firmly believe that continuous learning and advancement are crucial in providing the best care for patients and contributing to the betterment of the nursing profession.” —Nursing award scholarship recipient

Nursing Awards Develop Next Generation of Professionals The Middlesex College Associate in Science Degree Nursing Program, in association with Raritan Bay Medical Center, is designed to educate the nurses of tomorrow who are preparing to take on the many challenges of the profession. Through the generosity of donors, awards are presented each year to program graduates to recognize academic and clinical excellence throughout their nursing education. In addition to the awards, each year one scholarship is given to a deserving student seeking to further their nursing education. Awards and scholarships play a pivotal role in advancing nursing, as they help alleviate the financial stress that often accompanies education.

Caring for Our Youngest Patients The Maternity Department at Raritan Bay Medical Center is a special place where our youngest patients receive the care necessary to begin their lives on the right track. Premature babies, however, require additional care. Thanks to your generosity, the team received the training and certification required to care for complex cases of medically-fragile and very small premature babies. Now, newborns who would have been transferred to another hospital for advanced care are able to remain at Raritan Bay, and not be separated from their mothers and families.

Education is the most powerful tool we can use to change the world. Your generous donation towards education in the Special Care Nursery empowers and inspires future generations of medical professionals, ensuring that every newborn receives the best possible care. Thank you for making a lasting impact on the lives of these little miracles.” —Stephanie Lance, BSN, RNC, C-EFM, CLC, nurse manager, Maternal Child Health
