ENHANCING BREAST CANCER DETECTION

Hackensack Meridian Riverview Medical Center has added a new layer of technology in the fight against breast cancer. Patients receiving a mammogram now benefit from advanced software that generates a risk assessment and provides physicians with critical information to better identify those at high risk for breast cancer. This helps determine which patients may require enhanced, or more intense, screening. According to the Centers for Disease Control, one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. This new technology helps understand an individual’s risk of developing breast cancer so that they can transition to additional care if necessary. Thank you to our donors!

“We want all our patients to have the chance to know if they are at high risk, and then together we will make a plan for prevention strategies and devise personalized early detection screening plans.”

REIMAGINING ONCOLOGY CARE

In 2016, Riverview opened the doors to a newly expanded, comprehensive Cancer Care Center, with beautiful floor to ceiling windows and patient rooms overlooking the Navesink River. Since then, the demand for expert, compassionate oncology services has increased quickly, and the need for additional expansion was clear. Thanks to philanthropic investment, the Cancer Care Center will again expand to another floor in the hospital, adding 20 additional private oncology rooms - doubling the total currently available. This space will create a calming and comfortable environment for our oncology patients

while they receive treatment. Riverview is grateful to partner with our donors in offering state-of-the-art cancer care for the local community.

GROWTH OF RIVERVIEW’S NURSES

Every day, Riverview’s nurses invest their time, talent and compassion in caring for their patients. We are proud to invest back into our nurses by supporting their continuing education needs. With financial support made possible by donors like you, many of our nurses are pursuing higher degrees, including doctorates. As our nurses continue to pursue further education, they also bring back new skills, techniques and knowledge that advances patient care throughout the hospital. For all that nurses have done for us, the hospital is proud to support their career goals in this way.

A STATE-OFTHE-ART EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT

As the Red Bank community continues to grow, so does the need for access to the full spectrum of health care, including emergency care. The reimagined Alton A. Hovnanian Emergency Care Center will feature 40+ patient rooms and treatment bays, including specialty rooms for trauma, decontamination, electrocardiograms and phlebotomy. The reimagined Hovnanian Emergency Care Center will allow for more efficient operations and provide spaces designed for specific medical needs. Additionally, the space will have specialty rooms for trauma, resuscitation, decontamination, examination and isolation. As the population of the local community grows, we are happy to have an emergency department that offers a full range of care.

Be The Difference is a transformational effort focusing on four key pillars: enhancing the delivery of patient care, accelerating groundbreaking research and discovery, expanding access to advanced care and revolutionizing medical education while supporting the nursing profession.

Through this ambitious initiative, Hackensack Meridian Health Foundation aims to reshape health care for patients, clinicians and the diverse communities it serves, paving the way for a brighter, healthier future. Thank you for making a difference!

EMERGENCY PSYCHIATRIC SERVICES

COMING TO THE COMMUNITY

Thanks to a generous donation, as part of Riverview Medical Center’s expansion of the Alton A. Hovnanian Emergency Care Center, the new H. Hovnanian Family Foundation Emergency Psychiatric Services unit will offer emergency behavioral health care to those in need. The dedicated space will contain six beds, with half the unit reserved for adult patients and the other half for pediatric patients. The unit, built specifically for behavioral health patients’ needs, will create a safe environment for patients, families and team members, while also ensuring patient privacy and dignity. A private nursing station will allow for patients to be monitored at all times to ensure safety and proper care.

“We have designed a space that will be a safe environment for behavioral health patients. The team is trained specifically for this, from social workers to nurses. We are honored to be able to offer this specialized emergency care to our community.”
