The Maternity Department at Hackensack Meridian Raritan Bay Medical Center features new, upgraded resuscitation warmers in every delivery room and throughout the newborn nursery. The warmers feature radiant, warming light and resuscitation capability, providing necessary warmth and the ability to record a fast and accurate heart rate immediately after birth, which is critical in case the baby requires resuscitation. New parents and their families can rest easy knowing that the latest technology is readily available to meet their newborn’s needs right from the very start. We are grateful to our donors who support the Maternity Department in so many ways.
Generous donor support funded Raritan Bay Medical Center’s Addiction Awareness Day event. This multifaceted day featured presentations and community resources by health care professionals to support and supplement programs offered by the medical center. Additionally, personal stories and testimonials provided insights into the need to raise awareness, provide support and offer hope to those impacted by addiction
Thanks to donor support, Raritan Bay Medical Center’s addiction nurse navigator attended Addictions 2023, one of the industry’s leading professional conferences, to learn the current evidence-based practices for treating people with addiction disorders from the foremost authorities in addiction. The information captured at this conference is used in caring for patients, enabling them to confront and overcome their illness.
“This conference reinforced how important it is to provide these critical services and how critical donor support is to bringing them to this vulnerable population in the community who need it the most.”
ROBERT HENDERSON III, BSN, RN, PMH-BC, HN-BC, CARN, addictions nurse navigatorAn important part of treating patients with behavioral health issues is therapy. Therapy can often be intense, and patients may feel tired and anxious, seeking a diversion between therapy sessions. Fortunately, donor support funded the purchase of games, books and other activities to help entertain, relieve and distract patients working to address their behavioral health concerns. Our donors truly make an impactful difference for our patients.
“It is the best hospital in the world - excellent staff, excellent humanity and unique attention - and I feel very grateful.”population in the community who need it the most.”
Patients awaiting transfer from the Emergency Department to their room are provided with special donor-funded amenity kits containing personal hygiene items and comfort items, for both adults and children. Many times, patients feel the need to freshen up or are unable to relax in the emergency room setting. These kits preserve personal dignity, provide a much-needed distraction and improve their overall hospital experience. Team members appreciate these kits, as they often relieve their patients’ anxiety, improving communication and caring during a stressful time.
