On June 10, nearly 1,000 union members and labor allies from across Pennsylvania gathered on the steps of the State Capitol in Harrisburg for the “Rally for Working People.”
Led by the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO, this powerful day of solidarity called for bold state and federal policies that put workers first—ensuring safe workplaces, strong public services, fair wages, and a sustainable future for generations to come.
The labor movement is alive and well in Pennsylvania. And we’re just getting started.
The future is better in a union.
“None of this work is about politics, but it is all about Policy – Policies that help working people thrive” said Angela Ferritto, President of the PA AFL-CIO. “Our fight is the same as the entire working class. We are all fighting for dignity, equality, fair schedules, safe conditions, health care – WE ARE LABOR!!”
“This is the most beautiful thing I’ve seen in my life — seeing labor come together from all over the state. This is what solidarity looks like, ” said Maurice Cobb, Secretary-Treasurer of the PA AFL-CIO.
Union leaders, members, and labor allies marched through Harrisburg with a clear and united message:
labor cannot—and will not—be ignored.
Union leaders spoke in support of policies that put working people first: federal clean energy tax credits, public sector OSHA, safe patient-to-nurse ratios, public education funding, the right to collectively bargain, and trade that supports American families.
This fight is bigger than just home care, I want to be clear, as a healthcare union, we fight not only for good jobs, but better care for everyone.”
Matt Yarnell President of SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania
“The labor movement must stand united. As we work to expand manufacturing capacity and grow trade, it’s just as important to stand in strong support of the workers who make it all possible,”
“It’s our job to lift Pennsylvania up, that’s what unions are about. The things we need fixed, to bring prosperity to Pennsylvania, can be fixed.”
Robert

“We’re here to tell the people in this building that labor here and we will not be ignored. I want to call on them to enact Governor Shapiro’s stark budget increase in public education.”
