Fall 2023 – Let the Leaves Dance and the Snow Fly!

“I cannot endure to waste anything so precious as autumnal sunshine by staying in the house.” – Nathaniel Hawthorne

Here at PRPD we’re trying to give you no reason to stay in the house. This is the 75th anniversary of the founding of PRPD and while we just came off a fun summer event at Bille Park with a few hundred hotdogs and ice cream bars, there’s still more to come.

The ice rink will be back and open on November 10th, I can report that it will return better than ever. There are some changes that we’ve implemented with a beginner friendly approach, new lighting, room for spectators and events, and a more energy and water conservation approach.

These changes will support the activities off the ice. Our staff has really loaded up with the activities and events surrounding the ice rink and even if you are not a skater, stop by, there’s an amazing community welcome that you will find nowhere else.

By the way, we host the Community Tree Lighting on December 2nd. On that day, we will also host Tiny Voices, Holiday Craft Faire (by some of those Christmas presents on the Ridge!), and Santa’s Arrival!)

We’ll continue to plan and initiate some of the construction projects in 2024. We invite citizens that want to have a say in the future of recreation in the District to connect with us, we’re planning for new opportunities in Butte Creek Canyon, Concow, Paradise, Magalia, and beyond.

Browse through the rest of the Activity Guide, our crew has done an amazing job of providing a variety of activities and programs for all ages.

So do not waste any of that precious sunshine and get out and enjoy!
