IN FOCUS THE THUMBS Thumbs up to the team at Sainsbury & Automotive. When we went to pick up our new car we were pleasantly surprised to find it decorated with a blue ribbon and a sign saying “thanks”. They staff also gave us extra gifts including a Subaru esky pack with travel mug and cap. It was so wonderful to have all these unexpected extras when we went to drive away in our new vehicle. They even took a photo of us with the new car and emailed it to us as a keepsake. Thank you.

Thumbs down to the rubbish being thrown along Joira Road. There’s no better word to describe you but “tossers”.

Lovin’ summertime at the zoo MOTHER and daughter Louise and Claire Clarence braved the heat to visit our zoo before Christmas. They loved it!

Thumbs up to the people who regularly & grab a garbage bag and walk along the same Joira Road to pick up the rubbish left behind by others. Thumbs up on behalf of the Kintyre & Living Residents to Delroy Chemmart Pharmacy for their kindness in once again giving each of the residents a Christmas present this year. It was very much appreciated, and also thank you to all the staff for looking after us so well during the year. It is a pleasure to shop there. Thumbs up to Rod Pilon Transport for & their exceptionally efficient service over a number of years. I have found them second to none. Thumbs up to the team taking Santa & photos at Orana Mall before Christmas. At times there was quite a long line-up of eager kids and parents, but the staff thanked everyone for their patience and the photos are great. Apex Oval more presentable for the New Year’s Eve fireworks. But why can’t the area be kept in this condition all the time? Thumbs up to the police and to the very & nice young man who pushed my car off the roundabout when it broke down at a very busy time just before Christmas. It was very much appreciated. Thank you.

COLLEAGUES and friends attended Andrew Slater’s farewell held at the Commercial Hotel on Monday, December 19. Andrew has been teaching in Dubbo for nine years, most recently at St Johns College for three years, and prior to that at the Dubbo College. He is moving to Maitland. Thumbs up to the Dubbo Neighbourhood & Centre. They are an organisation that has listened to the concerns of the elderly and disabled of the Dubbo region. They’ve not only listened but also helped fix the problems. An enormous thank-you from all the people concerned. Last but not least…

Thumbs up to the volunteer organising & committee who brought us the NYE Fireworks Show at Apex Oval/Caltex Park. It was simply the best!
