When we looked back on 2022 we had to give you all a virtual pat on the back for helping us to have such a fabulous year; a record number of shows, a record breaking panto and an incredibly busy programme of events, workshops and private parties in Stage Left. Across the country there are theatres struggling and we are so proud that, with your support, we are looking at a very bright future.

This lovely old Victorian theatre always needs a bit of TLC and we have lots of improvements planned for 2023.

Budapest Café Orchestra

Refreshingly unconventional and snappily attired boutique orchestra, Budapest Café Orchestra, deliver Balkan and Russian traditional gypsy and folk music in their own fresh and surprising way.

Admired for their artful distillations of masterpieces by the great Romantic composers their infectious music will get into your veins and stay there forever. A small, but impeccably formed, orchestra of just four players, the BCO combines violin, guitar, accordion, double bass, saz & balalaika to dazzling effect, creating an awesome aural alchemy normally only characteristic of far bigger ensembles.

Totnes School of Dance presents their annual showcase featuring performances by local talented dancers.

Totnes School of Dance has been teaching people to dance since 1995, and holds classes in Totnes, South Brent and Ipplepen.

An Evening and A Little Bit of A Morning with Mark Steel

The critically acclaimed Mark Steel’s in Town was voted the 6th best radio comedy ever and Mark is a regular on the BBC’s Have I Got News For You, QI and BBCR4’s News Quiz.

Mark has been named newspaper columnist of the year and is author of the award-winning audiobook, Who Do I Think I Am. This is stand-up, so whatever has happened in the room, in the town or in the world that day will almost certainly be in the show. Strictly 14yrs+ (Likely to be swearing and adult content.)

Three Little Pigs

Once upon a time, in a muddy field by the sea, there lived Three Little Pigs.

Join Lost The Plot Theatrical and our three pigs as they excitedly leave the family stay in search of new adventures! Will they make a pig’s ear out of it, or will they raise the roof? It’ll take brains, bravery and curly-tails to build bridges and forge friendships with each other and those they meet along the way. Get those trotters tapping and those snouts a-squealin’ with new catchy songs, dancing and plenty of audience participation for piglets of all ages. A Sting in the Tale

A Bijou Theatre Production

A thriller by Brian Clemens and Dennis Spooner. Two once successful crime writers trying to write a play to pay off their mounting debts. As the plot develops, they realise who better to accomplish the perfect murder than themselves.

Bijou Theatre Productions produce four plays a year here at the Palace plus the annual Agatha Christie Season.

Come and celebrate the weekend of the Coronation with plenty of celebratory fizz and sparkle in an evening of famous opera solos, choruses and incidental music.

Jive Talkin’ Perform the Bee Gees

Agatha Christie’s The Hollow

An unhappy game of romantic follow-the-leader explodes into murder one weekend at The Hollow.

At the home of Sir Henry and Lucy Angkatell Dr Cristow, the Harley Street lothario, is at the centre of the trouble when, assembled in one place, we find his dull but devoted wife Gerda, his mistress and prominent sculptor Henrietta and his former lover and Hollywood film star Veronica. As the list of romantic associations grow so does the list of potential suspects when Cristow is shot dead. Nearly everyone has a motive. A Bijou Theatre Production.

The Bootleg Shadows

An outstanding tribute for a night celebrating the music of The Shadows and Cliff Richard.

A must-see concert tribute to the world’s greatest instrumental group with plenty of humour to make it a night out to remember! You can expect to hear the hits, from Apache in 1960 up to Riders in the Sky along with Summer Holiday and Bachelor Boy. With a few ‘wild cards’ like The Beatles or Fleetwood Mac! The Unravelling Wilburys

This top tribute show is more than just a tribute - they are the complete package!

The fabulous Unravelling Wilburys are made up of Sticky Willy, Walter, Thumper, Blind Melon and Honky Tonk Wilbury, the “real” Wilbury brothers, who first presented their songs in Nashville back in 1987. The show tells the story of how their songs were (allegedly) stolen by Messrs Orbison & Co. at Nashville’s Tootsies Bar and the hard road they had to tread to get ‘em back. Their great combination of brilliant musicianship and tongue in cheek humour has had rave reviews throughout the UK.

The Freddie and Queen Experience

The internationally and critically acclaimed Queen & Freddie Mercury Tribute Band

Shadow of Cliff

Jimmy Jemain, the UK's Number one Cliff tribute artist, is indeed the very Shadow of Cliff. Age 14 he performed as part of a support band for Cliff at a charity event and was inspired to follow a career in music. His amazing act won Stars in the Eyes and he performed at Cliff’s 70th birthday party. ‘I have achieved all this after being inspired by the great man himself all those years ago. He is a wonderful role model and a true gentleman.’

Crazy Comedy Company

The Mersey Beatles

The band members boast impressive pedigrees, having played with such musical giants as Asia, Ian Gillan, T’Pau, The Sweet, Robin Trower and Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds.

Paul Young broke into the big time 40 years ago when No Parlez went to number one and iconic hits like Wherever I Lay My Hat (That’s My Home) followed with the number one album, The Secret Of Association and the worldwide hit Everytime You Go Away, not forgetting an appearance at Live Aid and more. Now, on the 40th anniversary of No Parlez, he’s releasing a remarkable new record and publishing his extraordinary memoir; both called Behind The Lens.

An Evening with Sir Geoffrey Boycott – A Brand New Knight Out!

Geoffrey shares personal film footage from an incredible career – some which has never been seen before. He recalls hilarious anecdotes featuring the larger-than-life personalities he has encountered on the way – among them Brian Close, Fred Trueman, Ian Botham, Harry Secombe and his great pal, Brian Clough. Join Dorothy, the Scarecrow, Tinman, and Lion, (and yes Toto too) as they seek the Wonderful Wizard to find that there’s no place like home! The Wizard of Oz is a two act, full-length, ballet adaptation of the iconic tale by L. Frank Baum, told through the magic of classical dance. Join us for our exciting series of monthly daytime talks throughout the year.

A time and space to socialise and discover fascinating facts and hear interesting stories on a Thursday morning. Doors open 10am for a 10:30am start - Ends 12pm. £6 per talk (a cup of tea or coffee included) with some concessions available.

Thursday Dates: 11 May (Dr Todd Gray) - 15 June (Alison Huntingford) - 13 July (Peter Marsden and Jenny Ridd) - 14 September (speaker tbc) - 12 October (Don Evitts) - 9 November (Chris Mackenzie-Thorpe) and 7 December (Paignton Heritage Society Quiz event) An opportunity for those who enjoy creative writing to have fun sharing work, ideas and motivation.

Suitable for beginners as well as those with some experience of writing who would welcome guidance, encouragement and feedback. Led by Chris Woodhouse, who has created and taught many courses and workshops in the subject over some thirty years, the weekly sessions will include sharing work, discussion, writing exercises and suggested topics. Whether you are a short story writer, a poet, a teller of anecdotes, want to write your memoirs or novels or just want to explore different forms of creative writing you will be made very welcome.
